October Pincushion/Needlecase Swap - Breast Cancer Awareness Month
#201
The hexagon I used is 2 3/4" on each side and then I put 1 1/2" strips around it. It's already been sent to NH so I couldn't measure it. That's how I did put the binding on but I had too much fabric in some of the points. I'm going to try the pillowcase because my binding leaves a lot to be desired. My LQS is having a class on binding that I really should take but I don't have the time. I had the moose fabric and it's going to NH where we have moose.

I just wanted to say thanks to Lynnie and show the adorable zippered bag she made me. I love it. It's big enough to keep my camera in or my insulin and test supplies in. No Sis you can't have it. I know it has a ladybug but NO. I'm sure it took quite awhile to make all those hexies. Very nice job. Thanks again Lynnie.

Just to let you know that I have not received my October Pin cushion / needle case swap yet. If you are my partner could you please let Karen know when it was posted. Air mail to Australia generally takes 10 to 14 days, and that time is almost up if it was not posted until the 20th. I am so looking forward to receiving it.

My October swap arrived today from Nan62. Thank you so much Lois, it is really lovely and I am so happy with it. The extras you sent are all very nice and will be very useful. Seems this package went on quite a trip, better to turn up later than not at all. I love your card, I have my Gran's treadle machine just like the one on the card. She earnt her living on it as a dressmaker after being widowed when my dad and his siblings were quite young. This machine holds so many dear memories to me as I was my Gran's shadow when I was a child.

This is a picture of my Gran's sewing machine. She purchased it new in 1940 and sewed on it until her mid 70's as a dressmaker. My Gran was born in 1900 and I often wonder what she would think of the sewing machines of today. I leant to sew on a treadle machine a little older than this one that she kept as a second machine. I used to sew dolls clothes for my Gran's elderly clients grandchildren in the school holidays for pocket money.
