2.5” “CANDY” swap!!! Oh Sew Sweet! ***Closes October 15, 2012***

I was in my favorite Quilt Store and saw a display of 2.5” square sets. The display was nicely labeled “CANDY Oh Sew Sweet!” I couldn’t help but name this swap likewise.

This swap is for 2.5" squares (another size of postage stamp) in sets of 50 different 100% cotton fabrics. Please send what you would like to receive. Limit is 20 sets per swapper.

BUT WAIT there’s more! I am adding a swap “TWIST”. This even sweeter CANDY Twist will be 2.5” squares of 20 different BATIKS. Again, please, send what you would like to receive. Twist limit is 5 sets.

If you'd like to join this Candy Swap PM me your information (Real name and address) to sign up, and let me know how many sets (and twists, if you choose) you would like to swap.
For example:
SheriR - 20 sets, 5 twists
Sheri R…
1234 Quilter Road
Quilting City, Texas 77222

Use quality 100% cottons only! NO flannels, NO polys, NO homespuns, NO eyelets. If in doubt of fiber content, leave it out! Washed or unwashed are acceptable.

 All sets do not need to be identical. You can use what is in your stash! Each set does need to contain the right amount of DIFFERENT squares. (50 DIFFERENT cottons and/or 20 DIFFERENT Batiks) Please double check your counts…then count again. Remember, MORE is better than less.

 MAKE SURE to trim off selvages before cutting your squares. Also try to be accurate in your cutting of the squares, so they DO measure 2.5".

 Put each set of 50 (or 20 for batiks) squares in its own small, snack size baggies. LABEL each baggie with your board name and state you are from. For example, my baggies will say: SheriR – Texas

 Put all of your sets in a larger baggie with your board name, real name and address. This way if your mailing envelope gets damaged the PO can return the contents to you.

 Include for me an address label with your return information so I can easily stick it on your return envelope.

 Include $5.30 for return postage and $.75 if you want me to put a Tracking Confirmation on your return envelope. I will not return your swaps until I have exact postage from you to cover the charges. $6.05 total. You can send me cash or stamps, which ever you prefer. Put this postage in a seperate envelope along with your return address label.

 Mail your swaps to me anyway you choose. If you use the PO flat rate envelopes, reinforce the seams with tape so they are more durable while being shipped.

 *PLEASE* I will REQUIRE you send your swaps to me WITH a Confirmation Number. This will alleviate any questions as to where your swap is. I cannot be responsible for swaps that do not make it to my mail box without a confirmation number.

 I will return your swapped “Candy” in a bubble padded USPS Flat Rate Envelope which I order from USPS for free. The cost to mail this is $5.30.

If your sets cost more than what you sent me, I have no choice to hold them until I get the difference. Thanks for your understanding.

 Sign-ups close October 15, 2012. Sets are due to me by October 31, 2012. I will swap them out, and get them in the mail no later than November 15, 2012. Anything received after October 31 will be returned to sender.

 ** If you’re shipping from outside the USA, please mail 10 days earlier (Oct. 5) to make sure I get them in time. ** Send me a PM and we can make arrangements for payment of return postage if you will have a problem acquiring US$.

Please feel free to mail your sets early, if you wish.

General rules for swaps: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm

If you have any questions or concerns, please send me a PM

Now, LET'S SHARE CANDY!!!

I've got you down for 20 cotton and 5 batiks. Washing NOT required. I have already mention that to Patrice in case any more questions about it arise. Some people (ME) cut 2.5" squares from pre-cut strips.

Yummmm... sounds inviting. Let me see how many sets I can cut before I commit. When I first read the title of your thread I thought you were going to do a swap of 50 different candy fabrics. Now, wouldn't that be yummy!?:D

Currently, I am in the process of cutting 6" squares.

marybrace 08-25-2012 04:20 PM

SheriR or anybody else in the know.... Question...can these fabrics be floral, stripes, dots, solids, blenders, hearts etc.?

marybrace

Jannie 08-25-2012 08:01 PM

So I just want to know I am reading this right. In each bag, you put 50 all different 2.5" squares. Each bag can be the same or different depending what you have in your stash. And the twist is 20 all different 2.5" squares of batik fabrics. It sounds like an interesting swap but just want to know I am reading this right.

MathTeacher1980 08-25-2012 08:50 PM

This sounds like fun. I may have to jump right in. Time to check my stash. :)

SheriR 08-25-2012 09:21 PM

Marybrace, you can use anything you want to trade as long as it's 100% cotton. Floral, stripes, dots, solid, etc.

And

Jannie, 50 DIFFERENT prints in each cotton baggie and 20 Different Batiks in the Batik baggies. Each set can be different. And up to 20 sets of cotton and up to 5 sets of Batiks

luvTooQuilt 08-25-2012 09:26 PM

just think of all the scraps we can use up !!!!! Ive got a pile of scraps that I plan on using for this swap.. Just trying to figure out which and How im going to let my batiks go.... Those are going to be tough ones to let go.. Batiks are my favorites !!!!!! (besides 1930's that is )

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 08-26-2012 07:02 PM

I would like to swap. I'm sorting sets right now, so I'm not certain how many there will be. I will let you know soon. Mine will be all cotton -- no batiks. I have zillions of 2.5 inch squares in a tub and never really knew why. I guess I have a reason now!

...but, you said NO flannels! :D

Just before reading about this swap I pulled out all of my flannels and decided to cut them into 6" squares and make lap quilts from it all. When I start in on my cottons I will cut the 2.5" squares.
