Just a caution for those of you still cutting, please make sure that your charms are cut accurately. I've started sewing mine and am disappointed to find that many of them are too small. Let's check our cuts! |

I live in St. Louis (U. City the ethnic melting pot of MO) also and have been most saddened by what's going on in Ferguson. It is disheartening the way those protesting have been exhibiting provoking behavior. The looting, the destruction of local businesses what a mess and some of it is being done by those who do not even live in Ferguson. They are criminals and used this opportunity to took advantage. Stay safe.

Florissant is a neighboring community to Ferguson. Where the rioting erupted was a distance from us but it has moved closer. The news really doing an injustice to the many police officers that are trying to control the crowds. I saw one piece on Facebook say that armed officers in riot gear are pointing guns at people with their hands raised. What they failed to report is these individuals have been asked to move along and go home. The so called catch phrase is the rioters raise their arms and say don't shoot as they approach the officers and try to provoke them. The worst part is the people rioting don't even live in Ferguson they are coming from the inner city. My quilt guild meets at a church in Fergsuon and today we will decide if we are canceling our meeting next or not. It's really sad how this community is being torn apart. Well Hello Ladies....
I am finally back from my family reunion then my husband and I went camping. Sorry I did not get a chance to check in between the events. My family reunion was wonderful. So only 1 person threw up (4yr old), one person pooped on the floor, (2yr old) one person got lost (49 yr old), one person slept the entire weekend (30 yr old), 1 person walked in tie die paint (11yr old), and 1 person got buried in the sand (9yr old), a few of us cried, but all 44 of us laughed ! We stayed in 1 cabin that had 8 bedrooms so each family had a bedroom with a bathroom. The rooms were filled with bunk beds so they slept up to 12 people each. We had a very busy 4 days with....paddle boat, water boards, kayaks, frisbee golf, real golf, campfires, smore making, tie-dye shirt making, card playing, hay ride (minus the hay it had carpet..so we called the magic carpet ride), paint ball and zip line. And we ate....we ate a lot!!!!!!! I guess some of the highlights of the weekend would be that my mother who is 86 years old zip lined!!!!! and so did I. I have a terrible fear of height and was not planning on zip lining but as everyone was hotdogging down the wire I figured how bad could it be. So I walked up the side of a steep hill (thought I was going to die) Then after we (one of my sisters went down with me. Got to the top we had to go up on a ladder. Then turn around on the ladder. As my sister turned around she lost her balance and fell down which made her go down the zip line. So I jumped after her trying to catch up to her. So I did not have time to chicken out...Guess that turned out ok! Also there was suppose to be no drinking (alcohol) at the cabin. I put it in the memo (many times) but none of my siblings thought that I was talking to them...so everyone brought alcohol (but me). But one thing a family of 8 learns to do is share (so they did :) I don't drink very often so they all thought I was kidding :) I said in the camp letter of what to bring or not bring. "No red drinks or alcohol ...so no one brought red wine." :) I was proud of my dad (91yr old) that he participated in a lot of the games , mostly cards. He really just watches tv all day and Tiger baseball but our cabin did not have TV! So he was a real trouper. I did not tell him that before he the reunion because he probably would not have come. Our magic carpet ride (hayride) was a lot of fun....lasted about 45 minutes and actually went really fast. And for the grand finale on the hayride the drive took the wagon into the lake. We saw the lake, we saw the lake get closer, we thought we were gonna turn.... but no we went into the lake. And everyone screamed, laughed and cheered! I have tons of pictures from our reunion that I need to go through I will try and post just a few. soon. Barb |
