Jaba you got me in stitches. I was thinking the same but then an applique quilt from me. I would love that Buggy Barn chicken quilt though from Beth.

Now I'm really in trouble, what's a buggy barn chicken quilt? Maybe we just need to be partner's and wing it!

Whigrose 01-17-2014 08:45 PM

Hi all, just popping in to say "Hi" to some quilting friends from past Quilts for quilters swaps. Also, can't wait to see all the great quilts that will be swapped.

Best,

cry foul everyone! or is it cry fowl (quack quack).. what? YOUR NOT PLAYING? ha! but of course you are Yosamitesa! we need you, we want you.. we love your fabrics (grin) and your creativity! you could get a cool quilt for the little man out of this! Ok you could get a grand quilt for you but know the little man will suddenly want to use it or like in my case the big man steals right out from under your fingers.. join for goodness sakes!

I am almost ready today I say goodbye to the kids again for a few months and then tomorrow I get to put my sewing machine back where it belongs ... ON THE DINNER TABLE. sheesh its not been used for dinners in so long I cant tell you lol its almost naked looking without a cutting board, a machine, and all the fun things that go with it. it wants to be draped in fabric again I just know it. talk about itchy fingers... hate to look at the clock like hurry up lol but I have projects to work on! ANDALE ANDALE! (spell check).. maybe rapido rapido! would be wiser since I can spell that one lol

Yosamitesa 01-18-2014 11:25 AM

Lol. I'm working on a quick Star Wars quilt. It's for my best friend from college's girlfriend. She is having a total hysterectomy in February. My best friend called last night to see how fast I can get it done. Her sister was in a really bad wreck a few weeks ago and yesterday her brain activity stopped and she passed away. When lil man goes down for nap I'm layering and basting to quilt tonight and tomorrow.

I'll probably end up playing. I have a batik quilt I'd like to get together. If I'm not needed to play I've got plenty to work on right now. ;)

I'm not in any of your swaps right now as I still have a lifetime supply of 6 1/2 and 10 1/2 inch squares from your and luv's past swaps and am now collecting 2 1/2 inches. (diminished eyesight so tell me why I'm going smaller) I'm not surprised to learn that you are making a special quilt for a friend.....You are a true friend!

Just a quick question....How's the Dr. Suess quilt progressing? Mary Ellen

Have to start and finish celtic solstice for him for Christmas. Lots to do. Not enough time. Hubby working today...lil man decided no nap. Got a cranky lil man. About to order pizza then early bed.

I don't know if this the right thing to throw out there but, I would like TO DO an oriental print quilt if anyone is interested in wanting one. I am a surprise me person. Just putting out feelers to see. Thanks

oldcatlady 01-18-2014 04:16 PM

Oh my, it is funny how things just drop in your lap or fall in your path right in front of you :) :) :)
I would love an oriental/Asian quilt. My nephew married a lovely lady from Japan and I have been wanting to make myself a quilt with that theme.
PS. I also have collected some faere material, named the baby quilt I made for my great niece 'Butterfly Kisses' and collect angels-the prettier the wings the better! this is so strange but in a very good way :)

Boop56 I am trying to send you a pm and it says you don't accept them?

Nexxus831 01-18-2014 05:08 PM

I am so sorry to hear about your friends sister. Your young so I am presuming she was young. It's very tragic to pass on so young. Would it be possible for you to post a picture of your Star Wars quilt I have about 10 different Star Wars fabric just can't think of what pattern to do with them. Also I would be up for a group of three if we end up with even numbers. I really would enjoy you joining us.

Thank you I would greatly appreciate that

Elisabrat 01-19-2014 07:25 AM

You are a good friend Cindy. also your one heck of a busy woman .. mom, wife, working full time.. other than that bored too death I know. I think your doing grand myself but maybe you should hold off. And a three way is easy to do A sends to B B sends to C and C sends to A. tada! you don't have to join afterall. just herd us as one of my other swap groups calls it. Herding cats, not an easy job at all :) but super you .. you can do it!

now everyone sign up, play straight and we can make it a whole lot easier on dear Yosamitesa! she might even enjoy this :)
tick tock tick tock sign up and work on blocks! this will be fun, this will be great, come on in and find your date! (a quilty one at that!).

Yosamitesa 01-19-2014 07:39 AM

Thanks le brat!!! It has been a rough time lately. Hubby working 7 days a week. My work is about to turn upside down this week...big announcement coming that only me and another know. Hate that type of knowledge. Top it all off...lil man is acting out because he misses daddy. As for pairs...y'all are making this really easy. I was worried, but not now. ;) I'll work on everyone's information this week so it'll make sending names, likes, etc easier to send out. :D

jaba 01-19-2014 07:43 AM

I'd love an oriental quilt too, I've seen some beautiful ones in the aqua tones

Elisabrat 01-19-2014 06:49 PM

oh Jaba you cant have one. Period. Nope .. only novelty quilts for you. lots of bears and hearts and cats lots of cats too all your favorites (evil grin). I know how much you love those novelties :) Oriental? hum... guess if it was the right fabric with the right colors.. I don't care much for people on my quilts. no clue why (probably something Dr. Phil can help me with). oh right it wasn't much about me was it? nope it was about picking on Jaba. yeah that was what it was about! I get easily lost lol..

Gannyrosie 01-20-2014 02:52 AM

The closer it gets to the starting line and the more I read the comments, ya'll are getting me nervous. I sure hope I don't disappoint anyone. I have a quilt in mind but colors, well, I'll have to shop cause I really don't have a stash. Jaba I don't like people either, not unless it's a kids quilt with characters they like. I love animals, but not in a quilt. I"m country, but not that kind.

CarolynMT 01-20-2014 03:09 AM

GannyRosie, I am sure you wont disappoint anyone. The beauty of these quilts is they are made with love. All else is secondary. :) I am getting excited too, very hard not to go shopping till I have a name :p and style.

My LQS had some of the most beautiful deep red and ivory fabric with roses on it. A whole collection! I am so very tempted but no one (including me) that I know has red in their home. I so want to work with these fabrics, they are too pretty to just leave on the shelf. Am hoping that my partner will love a deep red/ivory feminine quilt. :p If not, guess I will have to redecorate :p cause these fabrics are too pretty!

oldcatlady 01-20-2014 04:00 AM

That sounds gorgeous to me, right up my alley also. I painted my dining room a very deep blood red, dark red not the bright kind. It took 5 coats of paint but so worth it with high glossy white trim :)

Elisabrat 01-20-2014 04:00 AM

ok carolynmt sold me. I want one! my bed has a white down quilt and a red down quilt on it. I think it will work lovely :) and in fact the last time I worked off only the colors in my home was... never. I love what I love and I play with it as often I can :)

Last night after going to bed to only realize I wasn't just 'quiet' tired I got up. decided time to refold, color code my fabric shelf. so pulled the whole top shelf down and redid it. now to redo the bottom well its half done now so bet it will take me half an hour which I happen to have today and wow I can now go to specific sections and find something! pinks! whites! three yellows (guess its not my happy color?) and so on. I kept thinking Jaba was standing behind me saying its about time! lol she was so good as to have her hubby build me these two shelves and to bring me all the card board, cut mind you, so I could stand my fabrics up .. and well I did use them just sorta fold it shove it on the shelf .. now its a rainbow! just like my scraps. Yahoooo! and once again find I have a couple 2 yrd pieces which is marvelous to use as starters.. but oh yes I am finishing, I need finishing pieces. got those too :)

sewmany 01-20-2014 04:08 AM

oldcatlady 01-20-2014 04:12 AM

If you note Whigrose's avatar, that is the applique quilt she made me two years ago. It is so lovely. Hangs in my stairway.

No need to be scared. Plenty of experienced as well as new quilters like me in the swap. Please sign up and have fun with the rest of us. :)
August is a long way away so it shouldn't be too hard to fit a small quilt in and as already mentioned I think everyone here will be happy knowing their quilts were made just for them.

egad what the heck is that? photo please

Tam...Moo 01-20-2014 01:24 PM

Those of you who are nervous about just please join. The members of this board are simply the most amazing people you will ever meet. You will make new friends, learn so much and receive a quilt of your very own. I am not a very experienced quilter and this will be my third quilt for quilters swap and I can hardly wait. The experienced quilters are kind, helpful and so Caring. I learned so much. I work 50 hours or more each week so I have to plan out my projects. Once I pick a pattern, I will divide the amount of blocks needed by 4 so I will know how many blocks I need to make, allowing a month for quilting and binding and getting ready to mail. I hope you will reconsider and join in the fun!

I googled Octonauts w/gup-E---lot of options come up--including ebay

Yosamitesa 01-20-2014 06:52 PM

I found on amazon for $37. It is a $15 toy!!! I just shook my head. Found an eBay for 15...with $11 for shipping...I give up. :(

sewmany 01-20-2014 08:06 PM

Ty, you guys are very convincing. I am in. Mainly because I would like to meeting new people.
What really convinced me is reading this thread:
so many sad stories, warning you ahead of time.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t187599.html

Because I know, deep inside I know none of you guys would put my quilt in the dog house with the dog.

Gannyrosie 01-21-2014 12:31 AM

thanks CarolynMT, you're right, it's the love and friendship that's important. Thanks for the wake up.
