Sign me on for the next wall hanging..

Teen 07-10-2018 08:26 AM

Thanks Ube.... This will be fun.

Anna....I've been drawing out some options but haven't decided yet. I'm working on a quilt now using my hoarded collection of polka dots, so, since these are already out, I may use them for WH. Not sure yet, tho.

ube quilting 07-10-2018 10:11 AM

I love polka dots, Teen, nudge, nudge.:D

Sounds promising. I really like polka dots too. Can't wait to see what you create.

Teen 07-10-2018 02:35 PM

You guys...so funny.... I hope you like bright cuz that is what someone is gonna get. I figure by November, clouds start rolling in for winter so we are going to need a bit of bright by then...

Rumbols 07-10-2018 04:26 PM

Just love seeing all the wall hangings flying thru the posts. So many talented quilters.

I started mine. Scrappy large applique flowers with machine embroidery using special stitches on my machine and some hand sewing. My hands are reverting back to being cramped and sore again (at least my left one is) so I thought I would go large. Using my scrap basket. I figure if I start now, I will be done by shipping time. LOL

Thank you, Rhonda. So glad to be hanging with you'all. I've got my creativity running wild, right now but no fixed plan. So far, I've decided on polka dots and bright.....and, I may do something whimsical. I'll share more when I decide.

Armylady2012 07-13-2018 03:55 PM

I am in this month hopefully nothing will get in the way again this time.

Since I'm new to the swap, I'll share the first progress picture.....this is the background. By the way, I'm an appliquér.... You can probably guess there will be floral's...but, something more too...teehee... I am unable to share fabric picks because I have no idea what color, shape etc. of my vast polka dot collection I'll be using. It's a pick as I go project..

ube quilting 07-14-2018 05:08 PM

Teen, I am watching real close!:D I have made two applique pieces for the swap so far and really enjoy the picking and choosing, from the fabric, pattern and finishing. This last one was the more complicated of the two and was fun from beginning to end.

Teen 07-15-2018 05:34 PM

Ube...I love to applique for that very reason that being the fun in choosing colors and fabrics. I do turned edge and machine applique because I don't really enjoy handwork. I am having so much fun with this wall hanging.

Linny 07-16-2018 08:04 AM

No ideas yet. It will be fall, officially, but not sure if a fall theme is what Will inspire me. There are so many beautiful colors for that time of year. Guess it could be winter too. Waiting for inspiration. Any input on what you all are thinking?

Something will come up and inspire you, Linny. As you've read, I'm doing whimsical and it will likely hang in someone's craft room.

I've been wanting to do this guy forever....I just love him and thought this swap is the perfect reason to make him. Still need to do the face detail and thinking about adding a butterfly. I have one embellishment I'll add when completed but I think he is so cute.... Anywhoo....hope, whoever receives him, will like him as much as me. He makes me smile so I'll be making him for my craft room, too.

Annaquilts 07-16-2018 03:32 PM

Teen, he is adorable and I would think anybody would love him, whoever receives him. Great work and amazing eye for colors and patterns.

Annaquilts 07-16-2018 03:34 PM

I really like to do applique and I also like the look of it especially when it's combined with piecing.

Linny 07-16-2018 04:34 PM

Teen, He is the cutest ever. I would hang it in my dining room to give it some pizazz. Your colors are perfection.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. It will be special for sure.

Teen 07-16-2018 05:58 PM

Thank you, Anna & Linny.... I am going to focus on finishing him up in the next few weeks because I am in the process of packing for a move and I don't want to not have it completed in time.

Looking forward to seeing both of your creations. I loved the ones you all did last swap.

This old lady is playing again too, don't forget me!:D

ube quilting 07-18-2018 12:26 PM

Teen, that is just way, way cute.

Teen 07-18-2018 12:58 PM

Thank you, ladies! I had to put him away this week so far....prepare for gripe.... I had to have my 1 year old carpeting re-stretched cuz it was bubbling.... As you can imagine, this involved dismantling and emptying 3 rooms, one of which is my office/sewing nook. Ugh! I had stuff everywhere. They came today and the work is done....just getting my rooms back in order but, what a mess. Flooring and painting work are always nightmare messes... Glad it's over...fingers crossed this fixes it.

Added a butterfly....going to quilt it next... This is my favorite butterfly applique pattern. I shrunk it down for this project...

Wilbur grabbed his quilt and is ready to come to someone's home.

In case anyone is interested, he is a block from the Raggedy Farm quilt. I didn't have a pattern...just created him from a photograph. All the animal blocks in that quilt are adorable. The butterfly is from the pattern, Secret Garden, from craftpassion.com, and the flowers are from Jen Kingwell's, Green Tea & Sweet Pea pattern, which I just finished using my dots... I shrunk the patterns for this wall hanging. The quilt in his mouth was inspired by a farm animal pattern I saw but in their case, it was a goat. I always thought that was a fun embellishment....so here ya go..

skaduzy 07-19-2018 05:12 PM

Teen, That little guy is so cute! I hope he comes to my house :D

Annaquilts 07-20-2018 02:36 AM

He brings a smile to my face. Maybe Wilbur likes to live with me on the farm? He is adorable! You did an amazing job designing and picking fabrics and colors.
