MacyBaby - love what you did with your round and those extra special triangles - perfect.
Here is your quilt with round 2 on it. DGD really helped me pull this together. Tried to bring the other colors into the round and used the smaller size squares. Than I could not resist and added the friendship stars all around too.
I always amazes me what colors are available and not available. just like JABAs very light blue, fuchsia was not readily available in a blender. But oh my what fun we had looking!!
BTW - did you have any log with your block. I don't recall seeing one.
I will send it along when Mona gives me the go ahead.

jaba 08-01-2020 12:39 PM

Looks terrific TG, love the friendship stars. I'll mail to you next Monday or Tuesday, it's ready to go. Macy send away....I'm ready for another one.

sewbizgirl 08-01-2020 02:42 PM

Thanks for those pictures, you busy RR-ers. Love seeing all the pretty growth on these quilts! Everyone is doing such a nice job.

givio 08-01-2020 05:07 PM

Wow! More round 2s done early! These are great!
Travelinggramma, your little size pieces in lots of shades were a really good idea to be a complement to everything, nicely done!

Macybaby 08-01-2020 05:12 PM

Travelinggramma, that really looks nice. It's turning out to be a very vibrant quilt so far!

I did not send along a journal, I know that once the quilt is done I'd never look at the journal again anyway, but that is just me lol! I've still got to write something for Carrie before I send it off.

I haven't received a quilt with a journal yet, nor did I send one with mine. Just never even thought of it, but as you say, once the quilt is done the journal may be forgotten. But I'm happy to write in any journals that come my way! There's always a story with every quilt round.

LAF2019 08-01-2020 07:30 PM

Loving all the pictures, keep it up!

Iceblossom 08-02-2020 07:08 AM

All this wonderful work and everything so different! I'm still looking at books and trying to get ideas and plan ahead and such but it goes out the window each time I see the next rounds -- and I can hardly wait to see what Mary adds to Bonnie's center once she gets it even though it won't come back to me. I'm going to miss having this center around, it is just so awesome to show other people, but I know I felt like that with Rebecca's center and that I'll feel the same when the next one comes so it will be all ok.

Yesterday we picked up the parts machine very easily and nicely and smoothly. They had signs on the road and they had the sold items basically arranged in the pick up time slots, we were a little early but no one was before us so we showed the receipt, picked up the machine and left, under my allotted 5 minutes of time. On the way back we picked up the fresh eggs for this week, plus an extra dozen for one of my Tuesday group ladies.

I've been cleaning up my cutting and sewing areas a bit. Feels good to do it, I like to work in wide open spaces and not just little cleared spots. Not only was cutting fluff piling up, but some how furniture around here starts growing fabric like moss on trees... You can almost see the couch, or at least you can tell it is a couch!

Hubby enjoyed the road trip last week and took another day off and we are going to do a shorter one on Monday. I think my knee is in better shape this week than last (last week didn't hurt but I sure didn't move well), but that changes on an hourly basis. He/we were both quite large when we met on-line many years ago, he now weighs half of his max weight and is in better shape than when he was in high school. So old Todd didn't go on walks and stuff -- new Todd does :) When we went out/did something it usually involved eating, so instead of eating for an hour now we go for a nice walk.

Still planning on going to the post office either Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning, so still time to prepare some things for mailing. Mona, would you like some random greens or do you have some specific desires? Easy enough for me to share pictures too. I need to know sizes you want as well as colors, most of my fabric now is less than 3 yards but over 6.5", I no longer save the little bits and cutting fluff goes to a crumb quilter here on the boards.

Macybaby 08-02-2020 07:17 AM

Today is a big day for me, plan on getting the LA running, I've not done more than make sure it would turn on , and have not used it since we started packing up back in November. Hard to believe I've not wanted to use it for this long, but I've spend most of my sewing time this spring/summer making masks so I don't have several quilt tops "yelling" at me to get finished.

random is fine it will be like Christmas. PM me your address so I can mail you the yellows, once you get mine you can send me the greens.

Iceblossom 08-02-2020 02:10 PM

Mona, A random set of greens can be done between now and the post office! My green box has been gotten out and played with for awhile so it will be fun for me to see what's currently in there...

I saw your PM with your address first and then came here. Back when I used to do a lot of fabric swapping we called envelopes with fabrics "squishies" and it is generally known that the best days are when unexpected squishies come. You'll be expecting it sort of but a bit of fabric in the mail is rarely a bad thing...

Thanks for the kind words about my center... and the others. I'm sure I'll love working on yours too, once it finally gets to me.

Bugaroo 08-02-2020 06:46 PM

Macybaby and Travelinggramma, wonderful additions. I am just amazed at how the quilts so look like they are going in one direction... just to show up in a post all recreated and again transformed anew.

sewbizgirl 08-03-2020 05:14 PM

Pics of what I've been busy with lately... clothes for my GD. If you are interested, they are here:

maryb119 08-03-2020 06:08 PM

Sewbizgirl, I looked at the pictures of the little dresses. Great job, Grandma!! I am so glad they are all OK. Things can be replaced but people can't.

givio 08-03-2020 06:36 PM

SBG, You've got a lot done in a short time! Darling prints. We've had hot weather for so long that this week's forecast of some cooler weather sounds so refreshing to me. The sleeveless dresses might need grandma's skill with the knitting needles? Those shrugs you made were so darling. Do you think they will still be the right size? Did you ask for measurements?

We've been so busy at work, overtime this week again! I'm looking forward to Friday already, and it's only Monday. Ugh.

sewbizgirl 08-03-2020 08:56 PM

Thank you Mary and Giv!

The shrugs, along with several hand knit sweaters that were hanging in her closet, waiting for her to grow into them, are all burned up. She lost every stitch of clothing she had, including many dresses by me, and the sweaters. The sweaters make me the sickest... all that time spent for nothing. Of course it's nothing to compare with losing my loved ones. Thank God that didn't happen! I can knit more sweaters.

travelinggramma 08-04-2020 05:59 AM

SBG - your dresses are priceless. Start taking pictures and when she has her own children she can look back at herself in all the homemade outfits. Kids do not realize how much time and work and love go into them - but now my daughter looks at all the things her grandma made and wants that for her daughter! And of course I love making twirly dresses for my GD! My mother had crochet my GD and baby blanket and sweater which was way too big. When she was 4 she finally fit into her sweater and was delighted to wear her soft warm blanket

Keep the pictures and chat going - it does help those who are housebound. (and lurking)

We had another lovely road trip day yesterday, we went to Ocean Shores and my husband has finally touched the Pacific Ocean for the first time after living here for some 17 years or whatever its been now. I kept telling him that the Sound, while salt water, is not the ocean. I didn't make it quite all the way to the water but I could see it and hear it and feel the strong breeze, it had already been a bit of a walk and the sand was difficult on my knee, so eventually I stopped at a handy log and waited as the hubby and dogs went on to the water.
https://parks.state.wa.us/554/Ocean-City

Another part of the State the hubby hadn't been to, we also drove by the Whoops towers (failed nuclear power plant)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WNP-3_and_WNP-5

Dogs were lovely, weather was cooler than its been (so that was extra lovely, plus the car has AC), traffic was lovely. It was rather comforting in some ways to see even the rural areas and park trails with masks on. We are all trying to do our part.

Today is back to quilting, three of the ladies in my Tuesday group have husbands with end of life concerns. One of those is not in a good place and we hope to start on a comfort quilt project today so I'll be loading the car with more fabric than usual.

I think that means that I will be going to the post office on Wednesday instead of after group today, but I will have the packages with me. I will have the center going to Mary, and fabric going to both Rebecca and Mona. It's been awhile since I've been in the green box and I'm having fun slicing up a variety pack.

jaba 08-04-2020 10:53 AM

Sounds like a great day you had IceBlossom, my youngest son lives in Nooksack. It's beautiful weather there in the summer, love all the greenery. Winter not so much, don't like the "gloomy" skies :)
TG, I sent Bugaroo's center to you yesterday so you should get it soon. Hoping my next one will arrive from Macybaby soon. I feel lost without one here....

IC, sounds like a great day. Thanks for the squishy!!!! If you need anything let me know.

I've ridden my bike about 200 miles in the last 2 months, I'm part of a miles challenge as a fundraiser for Alzheimers, it has helped me get out and walk or bike 3 to 4 times a week. If my hubby goes with I usually walk but the days he doesn't go I ride my bike.

Here is a photo of the finished curved log cabin quilt, I did fix the bottom corners, just didn't take another photo. This will be going to the quilter once I get the pineapple blossom quilt done also.

Bugaroo 08-04-2020 11:11 AM

Mona that is just gorgeous! Love the colors.

Macybaby 08-04-2020 01:07 PM

Jaba, if my husband did what he was suppose to do, the package should be in the mail - and if not, it will go tomorrow. I left it sitting on his computer chair when I left for work this AM, so I'm hoping it will be gone and the tracking slip will be there instead.

I pulled out another UFO to start working on (blocks are done but not put together), and got the backing pieced and mounted on the LA for another one of the floppies I found in the closet. It's a lap quilt made from machine embroidery blocks. If I work hard on the quilting, I may actually get to the point I have no floppies on hand! That would be a real accomplishment, since that has not happened since I got the LA!

I finished Jaba's round 2 today.

Carriem let me know when I can ship it to you.

carriem 08-04-2020 02:42 PM

Mona, looks great! You can mail any time. I have a safe place to keep it while finishing my current round. :)

sewbizgirl 08-04-2020 02:51 PM

Mona, love your quilt tops and your round on Jaba's quilt! Curved log cabin is on my bucket list.

Hey Group 1, Group 2 is about to pass us up and they started 2 weeks behind us. Good job, Group 2!

Mona, I love the Curved Log Cabin. I made one a while back for the day bed in our living room.

I am ready to mail to LeeAnn. I hope to get to the post office Friday. I'm in Group 1. Round three will begin soon!

carriem! Love the curved log cabin quilt! It's on my long and growing 'to do' list.

travelinggramma 08-04-2020 03:56 PM

Mona and Carrie - love those layouts and colors of the curved log cabin. It is also on my bucket list !!
And I love the row on Jaba's center - it is really coming along. So hard to see her original block!

SBG no race here. Just have the time without distractions! Its like the boomerangs - can't wait to get into the next sandwich bag and begin the process. And with my mom coming in early I don't have as much quiet time.

givio 08-04-2020 04:28 PM

Mona, I've loved the pineapple pattern for a long time. I haven't seen the pineapple blossom, but it has the same feel, just more simple. It looks so nice!! I hope I see a picture of it put together. Your round on jaba's center is nice in the darker colors like that. It gives a look of depth. Great job!

Hope your wrist gets stronger soon. Love your curved LC too! Very similar Fall colors to Mona's.

yep, that's why I like the blossom, a lot less steps.

Macybaby 08-05-2020 07:50 AM

I figure if we are a bit ahead right now, that will give us a bit more time when we get to the larger rounds.

Jaba, my DH did get the floppy in the mail yesterday, but I forgot to send you the tracking, so I'll be doing that when I get home tonight - provided I don't forget again!

Iceblossom 08-05-2020 09:34 AM

I made it to the post office today with packages for Rebecca, Mona and Mary. I'll have to have the hubby read me the receipts and post private messages but they were all sent flat rate and I'd expect them Saturday or Monday.

Our friend's husband is undergoing another heart valve operation as I type. He's been in the hospital all week getting him good enough to have the operation, so it's a good thing and we hope will give him greater life satisfaction. I need to whip up a quick few blocks between now and tomorrow for the comfort quilt. Group projects are always a dynamic to themselves, whether on line or in person. We started yesterday, almost got derailed last night but back on track this morning with a substitution fabric that makes most of us happier.

Macybaby 08-06-2020 05:29 AM

Now that I've got Carrie's center off to Jaba, I've started thinking of ideas for Mona's quilt.
Now I just have to be patient until it shows up and I can start picking fabric.

travelinggramma 08-06-2020 07:14 AM

Macybaby - your center is on its way to MonaG. I agree with you that I would rather be ahead of schedule - just never know what will happen in next few months.
I have ideas for bugaroo but have to wait to pick out fabrics.
Carrie - again, no stress as center doesn't have to be to next person until first of month!(Although, I am waiting to see what you are doing with my center)

Iceblossom 08-06-2020 07:22 AM

Just my daily I'm still here post :) Friend's husband came out of surgery well. Have the last of the fabrics prewashing now, hope to deliver the blocks in a couple of hours -- got to get sewing once I get off the computer.

Today we have a bit of rain and a drop in temperature. All I can say is aaaahhhhhh. I might even be able to spend some time in the sewing room in the afternoon, typically by around noon-2:00 it's already over 80 and only gets hotter as that side of the house is faces directly west. Did a bit of clean-up and putting away fabrics in there already, took the fabric that shouldn't be in my bedroom back to the sewing room. Still have a bit more ironing to do and a stack of mask making to deal with.

When I did my shopping this past week for the first time since February, there are actually disposable masks in the store! There were also supplies of hand sanitizers and wipes in various sizes (ok, prices are higher than they used to be but hey they are in stock). Mostly no limits or quite large ones on the masks and such. It may seem small, and I only go out weekly under the guidelines, but this was the first time in months that there were no gaps in the shelves and no limits and everything that you might want in stock.

sewbizgirl 08-06-2020 07:44 AM

Reba, I'm mailing a top to you today. Sent the the tracking # in a pm.

Ice, very glad your friend made it through his surgery.
Our weather also got gorgeous today. It's only about 70 degrees and much drier air than we have been having. I wish every day of summer could be like this.

Got all the granddaughter clothes sewn too, and will ship those off today as well.

Mona G 08-06-2020 07:52 AM

I'll be riding my bike over to my daughter's house today to get some tomatoes from the garden. I like to do a 12 mile bike ride when I go, she is about 5.5 miles via the bike trails so I always have to go around the block once or twice to hit my 12 miles.
I'm about 45 miles away from my 200 mile challenge goal (bike miles are divided by 3, so this will ad 4 miles to my total) with 4 weeks left.
It's been very comfortable weather this week here also, so don't have to go out early morning, but it sounds like it will be hot and sticky this weekend.
