I received the last 2 packages today in the mail. So I have gotten envelopes from everyone now! Yeah! Thank you so much girls! This is so much fun. :)
WMUTeach I'm sorry that you washed your ipod, I'm sure hoping that the rice works. it has worked for me in the past. Happy birthday to all the September birthday girls! I'm still ill with stomach issues... ugh... |
LoQ, Glad all your packages are in, and a week before your birthday, too! Hope you are feeling better soon.
|
All, thanks for the good thoughts and crossed fingers but the rice did not work. No, way, no how. So off I went to Best Buy late this afternoon. Ibex and i-Pod Touch is actually an old tech tool that now has some of the featured of a phone but I can call any one with it. I use is primarily for some of the Apple features that are better than on my android phone. Originally it was only used for listening to audio books and music downloads - an MP3 player. It is small and I can save music and books on it. I also like the maps feature. Obviously, I like it since I replaced it.
I am waiting for one more envelope. Then I will be all set. |
Two more arrived yesterday!! Thank you! The grandkids are getting excited about the mail, too. It is crazy how long some of the mail is taking to get to me as compared to everyone else. Today is likely the day for my last treasure to arrive. :-)

Hi everyone - I've been out of touch for a while. I am finally getting my sewing area ready to do some sewing again! We are fully using the studio kitchen, and now that we finally have a hood/vent, I've got less cooking smells in my sewing studio than before. The air currents in the house worked so that any cooking smells from the main kitchen went right up the stairs to the studio. We've already moved the front door and installed the kitchen window, but the windows for the new bathroom and dining room are delayed, they may be here end of October but that is still a guess. At least that won't hold us up on the kitchen work. Don't know what I've shared on the remodel - we are flipping our kitchen from the back (east) side to the front (road) side of the house. this way our new French doors will look out on our garden pond and private backyard, and the small kitchen window will look out to the street. We use to have a big window on the street side, which we kept the shades pulled most of the time for privacy. Not only was it easy to see inside from the road, anyone walking to the front door would walk right past that big window to get to the door.
DH almost had a wet phone incident. Last night, right before bed he realized he didn't know where his phone was. He does not carry it around with him and he does not normally bring it into the bedroom with him, so it was kind of strange that he even missed it. Knew it was home somewhere as he had called me after getting back from shopping. Ended up using my phone to call his, and we couldn't hear it ringing in the house, so went into the garage and I could just barely hear it. Turned out it was sitting on the back bumper of DH's truck in the driveway. He has set it there after calling me and then forgot all about it. And it rained hard for a bit last night, so it's very good he went looking for it. |
Macybaby, that is a huge rennovation! Congratulations on getting it wrapped up and NOT losing that phone to the rain!
All my bundles of joy have arrived. Thank you Hav4Boys! Thank you everyone! This is one exciting sewing birthday for me! I am so happy to share your birthdays, too. Speaking of birthdays, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WMUTEACH!! |
Ta-Da all Birthday envelopes have arrived. The last one was sitting by my door when I arrived home last night. The package was looking like it had been run over by a truck! Black smudges all over it, crossed off address, new address label (same address) and more more black smudges. Any way, just it time delivery. The grand "opening" will be later today!!
|
Happy birthday, WMUTeach!!!Woohoo!!! Time to celebrate! Wishing you a wonderful day!
|
Macybaby, that renovation sounds huge! I can't imagine moving an entire kitchen or completely resizing windows and window frames. How to do make the exterior siding blend so it doesn't looks patchy when you do that? My hats off to you and your husband!
|
Happy Birthday, WMUTeach! Sounds like the post office's fancy new machines have mostly been just chewing up the mail. Have a wonderful day!
I'm off to sew little dresses. I'm trying to make some to go into the Christmas boxes our church donates to South America. |
Happy birthday WMUTeach! Hope you enjoyed your special day and all your candles. :)
Macybaby, that kitchen relocation sounds very intense, but it sounds like it's coming along wonderful. Hats off to you guys. I'm starting to feel better, so hopefully I'm on the mend finally. Thank you for the well wishes. |
Happy Birthday, WMUTeach.

Birthday Treats

The day arrived and the day went, so today I opened my envelopes. Much oohing and ahaaing was heard. Thank you all, ever so much, for the the beautiful little candy treats and those special surprises that I won't mention specifically. Don't want spoil the fun for others.
I had a three day birthday rolling party. Friday, dinner and games with friends (Catch Phrase and Sequence, our favorites.) Saturday was Farmer's Market to buy my favorite grapes, concord and niagara. Yum, Yum. Then shopping with brother and sister-in-law and Chinese for dinner. But wait there's more.... Brother hurried dinner along and we went to his house. He had one more surprise. His neighbors were having a driveway concert with a small Irish band and he thought I would like it. Yes, Irish music is a favorite and my feet wanted to dance. But then he brought out a cake and tray of mini cupcakes for all to enjoy. A wonderful day. Today I had breakfast with my son and an afternoon gathering with a group of "mature" single gals from church. Two birthdays in the group. I brought Peanut Butter Chocolate Ganache Pie and.... some of my grapes for those who wanted to eat healthy. Just a splendid three days. I am thinking I will make one quilt with your candies or at least some from each dear little package. Just need some time to think on which pattern to use. Thank you all again and for the kind words. I have so loved the Birthday Swaps. You are all so kind. Big Hugs to all! Before,Treats, Treats and off to the recycling bin. |
The October Birthday Gals list was sent out this morning. If you were missed or if you found an error, let me know ASAP. Happy Monday to all! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Any of you ever watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse videos for todays kids? Daisy tends to say "oh goody goody goody" When she gets really excited. That was me today opening up all those beautiful candy packages. This was so amazingly fun. Thank you one and all for the lovely cards, humungous diversity in fabric, and the thrill of wondering what was going to be in those piles. Lots of treasures in those envelopes. Thank you!

Cuppy, just to protect our privacy list only screen names. We don't want any of the Bad Guys finding our swapping friends information. Thanks.
Thanks BarbraKibler23 for answering the missing name question for Cuppy. I have decided what to do with my birthday squares. A picture will be coming later this week. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wink.png Wink, Wink, Wink. |
Sorry abt the no id on my package, been having a trying time getting my brains back. Brrrraaaains. If anyone finds them, please return in a zombie proof box.
WMUTeach - your very good about moving things along, personally I think I'm becoming a hoarder. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/eek.png Got in the first parcel this year and I'm looking at the name ( was in bed unable to do more then stare) and I'm like I know that name. Can't be a return cause it's too small for yarn (biz). Finally I was like, it's my b-day month! DH had no idea what I was going on about,,, until a few more came in. Thank you everyone, sure does brighten the days. I used to have a birthday week, now it's a birthday month and it starts before my b-day even hits... the month before. I've not opened them yet and I think I might do what I did last year, open them on the day. Now I'm off to make the center of my Round Robin quilt, we are doing a swap on that board, I'm in group B (I think) and I'm doing birds. (sqwack!) |
WendyMcD, please use board names only in your tallies. No real names. Some of us don't want our real names posted, for safety sake. Thank you.

Getting my cards out today. Had a few "fall" weather days then rain. Feels nice and great sleeping - even pulled another quilt on last night!!

Birthday gals, when you update your post you can remove the names and just use the screen names. Thank you every one. |
I have reported all the posts with real names, for removal. Please, in the mean time, do not post or QUOTE posts with real names in them. It gets tougher and tougher to clean this mess up.
So far real names have been posted or quoted by cuppy, BarbaraK and Wendy McD. Please be more careful, my friends. We all get enough spam as it is, and identity theft is on the rise, too. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/shock.png |

Swappers, here is my latest finish. Nothing new just a UFO from last year that was quilted early this month and I got the binding on last night. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/boy.gif I have used this pattern, Fading Charms from WeddingDressBlue, previously but never this scrappy. Tried to just reach in the bin and add and add and add. Uses about 500 squares. It will be sent off to Project Linus later this fall with some others. I have been donating larger quilts for their older kids and teens who still need that quilty hug and some comfort.
