I've always loved Arkansas Crossroads for 2.5" candies....

travelinggramma 09-01-2021 06:12 PM

I love scrappy...but am always drawn to the rainbow color blocks. I guess because with this swap I have a wide variety of colors

NZquilter 09-02-2021 12:51 AM

I love your two quilts, WMUTeach! That pattern is a great one for candies!

ibex94 09-02-2021 07:44 AM

One more arrived at the end of August! I should say that I am listing the day that I find them in my mailbox. My maillady doesn't come until late in the evening sometimes. None came yesterday. Thank you for my newest surprise, Giajin! Thank you for the beautiful quilt pics for these candies, WMUteach!

opened up all my wonderful cards the other day and this one was from Patricks Mom. My first thought was - that would make an awesome quilt!! Am I the only one??
Thank you again one and all - everyone sent such wonderful cards and candy

ibex94 09-04-2021 08:05 AM

Happy Birthday Travelinggramma! You have such a great eye for what works with quilting. If anyone can design figure out how to quilt that complicated of a pattern, you can!

Loveofquilts 09-04-2021 04:10 PM

Happy birthday TravelingGramma! Hope you enjoyed your candies and maybe a cake. :)

WMUTeach 09-04-2021 04:32 PM

Rainbow Hydrangeas. You mentioned in an early posting that you liked rainbows. Design away dear swapper. We will all stand in awe at your marvelous way of perhaps using some of our little 2.5s.

Can't believe they mis-routed my card to you for this long, Ibex! It was sent with all the others for the same month. Glad I mailed early!

ibex94 09-05-2021 04:22 PM

Sewbizgirl, I am going to talk to my mail carrier and see if she can figure it out. Then I will ask all the people around me to see if perhaps they got it and haven't bothered to bring it to me. I suspect it was misdelivered and the person getting hasn't returned it to the carrier.

Whoopie! I got the Jacob's Ladder top finished. Guess I should count the number of 2.5's, 576 little treats out of my stash. This one will go the a longarmer later this week or maybe next. Now on to the Wedding Dress Blue sew along with 2.5's and 4.5's.

I did get another top quilted this weekend that used are 2.5's but will post when it is bound.

sewbizgirl 09-07-2021 09:07 AM

Thanks for checking, Ibex...

WMU, great Jacob's Ladder! Can't wait to see your others when you get them together.

NZquilter 09-08-2021 05:02 AM

That is a beautiful Jacob's Ladder, WMUTeach! I love how you used all one color way candies, it's so pretty.

Oh, thank you! The colors just don't show well in the many photos I have taken. The colors are purple, blue and green. I tried to keep them all to the darker, jewel tones. This one will be difficult to give away but I know who it is to go to. That "still small voice" made it quite clear who should have this quilt.

WMUteach, I love the jewel tone. My Jacob's Ladder did not get very far..

LoveofQuilts -- I hope you feel better soon!! It's not fun being sick.

Also, my cards went out in the mail yesterday.

sewbizgirl 09-09-2021 09:17 AM

Ibex, if my candies don't get to you by your birthday I will send a new package... no big deal, I have plenty!

hav4boys 09-09-2021 10:45 AM

My cards went out in the mail today. Should reach everyone with plenty of time. This is the latest I have mailed in the 5 years I have done this swap. I got so involved in house hunting in Arkansas time flew by.

WMUTeach 09-09-2021 04:07 PM

Thank you every one for posting when you drop your little packages in the mail. Then we birthday gals know to watch for your contribution to our birthday fun. Oh, yes, and don't forget to put our screen name on your envelope. Thanks, bunches.

Sewbiz, don't fret about it. I know it is going to show up. It may be in bits and pieces, lol, but either you or I will end up with it. I suspect mangling of the envelope in Jackson occurred. Somebody was sure surprised if little fabric squares were raining down in the machine.

Whoopie! I'm feeling much better, the sadness has lifted a great deal. It helps that the kids will be here for Thanksgiving.

Good on ya WUTeach for the top completion. Way to go.

I'm really excited! I'm reclaiming my house. The last of Mom's stuff is leaving next weekend. I seem to have a scrapbooking room and the sewing room is almost there. We painted both rooms, still haven't done much to the mural wall. And another table is coming here tonight. It's one of those, here's the wood, you play Lincoln Logs now, Ikea. It's got an extention to make it 6' which is perfect for the space. My butcherblock work bench is up and my sewing machines going there. I tried one of the plastic folding tables but it moves and bounces too much. Hopefully I'll be able to unpack all my fabric and organize it into the massive closet... then away we go. Used to be I could pack, move, unpack myself and my child in a weekend. The good old days of high energy and fortitude. Hey, I'm old but I ain't dead yet.
Have a great weekend.

ibex94 09-14-2021 04:29 AM

Wendy, please post pics of the scrapbooking room and sewing room and mural when you are happy with them! How exciting to redo your living zone!!

ibex94 09-14-2021 04:35 AM

Since I last wrote, five more envelopes have arrived including yours, Sewbizgirl! Ripped a bit and the bar code marked out so it obviously has been on some kind of journey. Nothing wrong with the address you wrote but it looks like it may have gone to 39847 zip code first.... wherever that may be if it exists at all. But it is here and intact! Thank you!

So happy the candies to Ibex have been delivered! That was about 3 weeks in transit, but it sounds like the envelope got stuck behind the sorting machine or something... It's always good to mail early.

hav4boys 09-14-2021 10:23 AM

Hoping mine get there soon.

Looks like I am waiting on just two to arrive by Saturday. Whoo-Hoo!
Ibex94 is waiting on three.
Lovofquilts is waiting on 7.

Sewbizgirl, if that envelop could only talk. What a story it would have to tell! Glad all is well and it arrived with time to spare.

Hav4boys, I bet yours will be arriving soon, since my envelope arrived today. Hang tight and watch for your name on the other two lists.

Guess what I did today? I washed my ipod, twice. Changed bedding and couldn't find the little divice. Laughted and looked in the washer. Yes, indeed it was in the bottom and had gone through two wash cycles. It is now resting in a bag of rice. Finger crossed but I am also planning on a trip to Best Buy in the next few days. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wave.gif By the way, it did not shrink nor did it fade it beautiful hot pink color. I have to smile, really I do.

aborning 09-14-2021 06:18 PM

I mailed the September birthday packages yesterday.

That's something I'm always afraid I'll do. Or I will accidentally wash my phone... I'm sorry that happened to you!

ibex94 09-15-2021 10:07 AM

WMUteach.... so sorry to hear about the demise of your phone. I'm glad the color stayed intact. The lesson learned is don't wash your linens, right?

Ha-Ha-Ha and a Tee-Hee-Hee. My iPod is clean and so is that set of sheets. My iPod Touch, not my phone, is my sleep buddy. I listen to audio books to lull me to sleep each night. Had to dig out an old CD book last night. Better than nothing. Mr. Goggle suggested covering the iPod Touch in rice and let it sit for 24-36 hours to see if the rice will draw out the water. I'll give my sparkly pink iPod a try in the morning.

ibex94 09-16-2021 05:20 AM

Sooooo.... did the rice do the trick? I know nothing about Ipods. Touch? hmmmm. I better catch up to today's world and see what the new technology is. I'm happy to just keep up with the quilting world technology. I'm a lookyloo, not a purchaser. My moneypit house gets my spare funds.

But there is always money for great fabric! I found some Marcia Derse fabric on sale at Rossville quilts that I couldn't resist https://www.rossvillequilts.com/category/the-opposite I need to start making things with my stash!

Sewbizgirl, I found some of your fabric from this last Boom on another site and am planning on playing with it to try my BOOM block for you again. After it was ironed I realized I didn't link something up properly and it is driving me crazy knowing that!

WMUteach -- Happy Birthday ahead of time. I fear this weekend is another one of those too full weekends and I may not be online.

WendyMcD 09-16-2021 06:04 AM

WMUTeach-Ouch on the Touch. Mines been flashing black screen whenever I used the camera. It's like my 4th in 6 years? Something like that. This last time I bought an Otter Box. Old dog, new tricks... I still dump it on it's head from time to time.

My scrapbook room (recent purge of my people) has been getting a great deal of use. Back in the day I'd have had the sewing room put together and had a quilt finished by now. Currently I need to remove all the stuff we put into the closet (who's idea was that anyway) reorganize it, rebox it then put it back in. Leaving room for the 5 XL totes full of fabric. Which needs to be reorganized, refolded? re-ironed? never goona happen that. :https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/hunf.png Course the stuff to finish up the floors came in yesterday. Sigh, it will all get done... someday. Meanwhile I keep adding to the list of stuff I wanna get done in my sewing room. weeeeee this lil piggy is going to have a hefting weekend. "Tote that barge, lift that pail"

Did I tell you? DD is coming home for Thanksgiving. Yes!

Happy birthday ya'll.

Ibex... your block looks perfect and is already sewn into my quilt top. The top is almost done and ready for show. But that's another thread... https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/tongue.png
