Attachment 639360helped a friend ( ex coworker) and covered a wooden cigar box for her fund raiser. jShe volunteers at a church which has daily activities for the elderly. Little challenging, but i;m happy with it, and i was able to get rid of more scraps. Yah.

Happy Birthday, Irishmom! Have a wonderful day!

Very cute box, Gannyrosie!
|
What a cute little box! Looks perfect with those little 1930s prints. A labor of love is often so very fulfilling. ;) A charming addition to the organizations efforts to work with the elders of their community.

Happy, happy birthday, IrishMom! 🎉🎂🎈

What a cute box, Gannyrose!
I haven't had much sewing time these past couple of weeks. I've been getting our vegetable garden in. This is our first year of one and we miss calculated how big we wanted, so we tilled another 200sq feet today. I think it total we have about 900sq ft now. I'm going to have a busy harvesting season, canning and preserving and snap freezing everything! |

Happy Birthday IrishMom!!!

Gannyrosie - that box is adorable. How big is it? Did you make a sleeve that you dropped the cigar box into? Did you have to paint the box? Is it fabric lined inside, too?
|
Happy birthday Macybaby, I hope it was a great one.
|
Happy birthday IrishMom, I hope it’s a good one.

yes I made a sleeve, left the bottom bindinding flat to wrap under so I had something to tack it to. Then covered it with felt. I also lined it with felt. The top was glued onto a cardboard then glued to the top. It was all lined with felt verses batting cause it didn't want it too thick. |
My dad has a ton of cigar boxes around. I am going to have to try to do something like this. Great way to kill off scraps and use those boxes!

I received two more envelops today. here is my complete list. Thank you everyone! My son has been visiting so I've not spent much time online.

You ladies must have some great quilts with great stories behind them! Again, my most heartfelt thanks for all the goodies! |

I am so proud of this little group. A perfect month of swapping,,,,,again. Three cheers for us all! I have been busy in my sewing room working on a commissioned quilt and a baby quilt. Not a 2.5 in either one!! But I did take on my mountain of UFO's when I needed a break from the commissioned quilt. Finished one that was buried under a a pile of other projects. Only needed a binding and now it i done. It is the Valentine Mystery Quilt from Scrap Quilt Enthusiasts. It made a small dent into my 2.5's. Tee-Hee-Hee. I discovered that that in the past few months is that I have become a collector but not a user. Time to make something with these even if it is just a random postage stamp quilt(s) to pare down the boxes of 2.5s.
Watch for a PM from me later today with our June Birthday's, We have three again and one is early in the month. |
Cute hearts quilt, WMU. I am a member of that group too, but I somehow missed that quilt.

Sewbiz, I just checked and the pattern for the Valentine Mystery Quilt is still in the "files" list. Really easy to complete. I joined the group because of a post you made perhaps in the fall? I can't remember for sure. I would recommend the group for ideas and encouragement for all kinds of scrappy quilts.
Here is a suggestion from Scrap Quilt Enthusiasts FB Group. I liked how this quilter sprinkled in novelty prints with consistent background color. I asked permission to post here. She said YES! I am thinking this would make a good children's quilt or for a donation quilt. |
Just sent out the June Birthday list. If there are errors, let me know. Let the swapping begin and fill those mailboxes!;)
|
I'm loving the heart quilt WMUTeach! Also the block was a great idea for candies. Thanks for sharing that. I agree, I'm a collector and not a user. I'll have to do better with that.

Back in 2019 Barbara spelled kele's last name: Branstetter You have spelled it: Bransettler Do you know what is the correct spelling? |
on the topic of spelling - I found it amusing that half the envelopes came to "Dalle" and the other half came to "Dale" . The later is correct, but they all got here just fine.
|
I have received a message from our June swapper and the correct spelling of the last name is Branstetter. My apologizes.
I have also requested that post #476 be removed because it reveals personal information and there are just too many smart but creepy folks lurking on our site trying to lure us into sharing information about ourselves and tricking us into scams or unexpected websites. Everyone take care and again I apologize for the error. |

My candies are ready to go to the post office. Sorry I didn't see your name spelling correction in time, Kelle! Please ignore that extra "l".
|
June birthday cards are on their way. Happy birthday to you!
|
My three cards have been mailed, as well. Bring on the birthdays!
|
The three June envelopes went in the mail this AM. Now back to the sewing machine.

Today I notice Bonnie Hunter has a new pic of a pattern using lots of 2.5” squares etc. very scrappy and I’m adding it to my want to make some day list. The pattern is called Maymont (it’s a PDF you can buy or you can figure out the pattern yourself, {ops, did I say that out loud}, I would post a pic, but forgot how and I’m not sure about infringement issues. So look it up on her blog.
- I’m curious, will we be doing any QAL’s this year? I sure enjoyed doing those in the past years. We maybe able to do this over the next few months. Since there aren’t many birthday swaps in the next few months. Hint, hint, hint. Just curious. Today project, get my envelopes together and mail out later today or tomorrow. |
Went to the post office today, June birthday cards are on their way!!
|
Does anyone do the 10-15 day mystery from Laundry Basket quilt? It’s a free QAL that starts June 1st.you will need to sign up for it though. I plan to at least collect the pattern clues/steps. I have to look for fabric to make the mystery. And no it’s not 2.5” squares pieces.
|
Thanking everyone for my candies! I will open them tonight, then post a photo later.
Thank you so much, Gaijin |
