Agust Secret Pals - sign-ups through midnight July 31 - Come join the fun!

This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can
choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner each month, and the person you send to will may be different than the person you receive from.
Failure to send your package after signing up will be cause to be banned from all future swaps.
Please do not sign up if you cannot fulfill your obligation. Have fun and be creative!

After receiving your Secret Pal’s details, go to work and put together a package with something you think your pal would like. There is a $15.00 limit on this swap that does not include what you have in your stash. (This does not include shipping) Most swappers do not mind like-new stash items.
You will need to send me (hav4boys) a PM when mailing and receiving.
This way I can keep my records straight.
Also send a PM to your SP thanking them and leave feedback.

Please take pictures and post in group as everyone likes to see what you get.

Packages need to be mailed out by August 17th, this is a Firm deadline. All International mailings must be mailed by August 10th Firm.
If you know that you cannot mail by that date, Please Do Not Sign Up.

For international mailing it is very important that you mark your parcel as a 'Gift' on the Customs Declaration (there's a box you can check). Also, the value should be $10 only (even if you send diamond necklace). The person receiving the package is liable for Import Duty, Tax and a Handling fee. This can cost the person receiving as much as $40.

Padded envelopes are much cheaper to send compared to small boxes. These can be ordered free of charge from the USPS website.

You must have a phone # or email to sign up

I would like to sign up but have a question. The $15 limit. If I have a new spool of Aurifil ($12) in my stash and a layer cake ($39) I would like to send, I can because it was in my stash?

Yes, you can. I think the $15 is a minimum for a new item(s). I think no one will complain if you send more.

MizMelly 07-28-2019 07:49 AM

LAQUITA 07-30-2019 04:50 PM

I want to share with you all an idea I had for my birthday. I will be 55 this month, we moved last Oct into a house that has a huge backyard. Therefore we have lots of blank empty picket fence space available. So, for my birthday I have asked my family members (mom & dad, brother and SIL, cousins and our daughters) to paint a 2X2 piece of treated plywood (that I have already painted white in exterior paint), with a barn yard quilt pattern, of their choice.

I gave them the plywood and the assorted outdoor paints and a link to Pinterest to search out ideas of their own. I can't wait to get them back from them and see what they did! My 94 year old Grandmother even got in on the idea, she too loved to quilt, in fact she taught me to quilt. She loves flowers so I chose a Grandmother flower garden to paint. But to make it easier for her, I purchased pre cut hexagons shapes and let her help me paint them in different colors. She was VERY adamant about the center having to be yellow. So each of the hexagon flowers will have yellow centers. I am most thrilled that she and I painted these together.

If ever I can figure out how to post pictures I will post them of the quilt blocks once I get them back.

Just thought i'd share this with you all.

LaQuita this should help you on posting pictures.

That is stunning have4boys! I can see why you love it. I do too.

Annaquilts 08-05-2019 08:48 PM

I made something for my secret pal today and I also went shopping and found several items my secret pal wanted.

In my secret pal's state-

It is illegal to sing while wearing swimwear in public.
and
It is also illegal for an unmarried woman to skydive on Sundays.

Ok, here goes a clue for my secret pal.

Both Spain and England claimed this state for their countries between the years of 1542 and 1579

Yesterday I received this amazing package from have4boys. A rainbow of Civil War FQs, Scrap Quilting book, gum, turtle charm and the cutest vegetable pot holders. I posted a picture with the front of the pot holders showing and then a picture showing the fabric on the back. Thank you for everything. I am looking forward to making some of the patterns out of the book and using the fabrics. I really like the hand made potholders and they already went into use.

hav4boys 08-08-2019 01:18 PM

Anna,

I am glad you liked everything. When you sent the oranges and avocados, I knew if I ever got you as a secret pal, I was going to make you farmer's market pot holders.

Mary Christine 08-08-2019 06:45 PM

Nice package, Anna! I'm drooling over those Civil War fabrics.

Aaahhh another Civil War lover! Good to know.

hav4boys 08-09-2019 06:36 AM

I am probably one of the few that is not a big fan of the civil war fabrics. I like bright and vibrant.

Annaquilts 08-09-2019 06:50 AM

It seems in this swap there are many bright and vibrant fabric lovers. I have had several people that liked bright, pink, red, black and white. They also do not like brown. I can go either way as most quilts I make for others and few if any like Civil War. Personally I am big on Civil War and patriotic. Something I wonder about too is if people like batiks.
