I am still working on my TR but my swap partner is now working 11 hour days and has had the flu too so good thing we have lots of time for this one. I don't want to rush her so told her to take it easy...work comes first and I don't have to rush on mine this way.
Brat (Linda) I think the techs need to make sure they have all your 'holes patched' before they send you out so you don't leak. I can not tell you how much I admire your perky spirit. You brighten my day each time I read your posts.
Hope you get lots done today sewing wise...or take a nap! :-)

Anastasia 02-15-2013 09:33 AM

I always vote for naps. I only had class one day this week so I've been trying to catch up on my sleep. It seems I'm too far behind to catch up. *sigh* Sooo tired. Probably because learning new things is exhausting, so combined with school, and learning the new position at work.. ack. I need lots of naps. I'm not getting ANYTHING done this week either :( I was like... awesome, no class, I'll get stuff done.. nope.. not a single darned thing, not even my homework.. just sleep. Ok well I did just go finally clean the litter box. It's amazing the look of utter relief on a cat's face. hehe. Im hoping to be more productive this weekend. I do have to remember to bring the darned cat to get spayed on sunday, REALLLLLYYYYYY flippin early.

yay! ana! spay neuter, that's my battle cry. when my son was 6 i had a hysterectomy. and the little brat (no offense, brat!) told everyone at school and childcare that i had been spayed. i started to correct him and decided instead to just let it be. at first, i was a little embarrassed but now i love the story and laugh every time i think of it. at least it wasn't tnr! last night we went out to eat and i had a pomegranate margarita. YUM! but it wasn't all that big, pout. i would have shared but there just wasn't that much. next time i'll take one of my adult sippie cups and get them to fill it. anyway, i have done nothing on the tr yet, but i will! i promise! and brat will tell you, i keep my promises! i have just not felt much like quilting, my area is a trainwreck, and my dh hasn't put the sm cabinet together ( down, brat, down! i'm not talking 50 shades of gray! i'm talking sewing machine cabinet! sm got you into another hot flash, huh!?) so, i need to get my act together.

DustysMomma 02-15-2013 04:17 PM

Nancia, where'd you get that SM cabinet from? I want one too! ;) Oh my, my boyfriend would flip out, lol! He's so conservative, and I'm so.....NOT! It'd be worth buying one just to see his reaction! :D

Oh wait, it's a sewing machine cabinet? Well there went my exciting weekend, lol.

Nancia gave me permission to work on my home decor swap for a bit. I think I'm going to get some sewing in this weekend on both projects. I'm waiting on more info from one of the side job guys before I can finish his books for the year, so there's not more than a couple hours worth of work left on his stuff & I'll be stuck til he comes through. I think I need a weekend to myself. Dusty's gone to his grandparents' for the weekend, and my boyfriend has about worked himself sick again, so he'll be no company this weekend. I guess you guys are stuck with me!

yay! we get to play!! don't forget, sunday is virtual quilt together day! i usually don't find out until the day after, so i'm all excited and ready to go!
d'sm, i actually bought my sm cabinet from jo-anns,com on sale, on-line only. i think with a few chains and hooks in the back it should work just fine. oh, i mean , i'm hoping my dh will put it together for me so i can sew this weekend. i used to put furniture together and do almost all the handy stuff, so it irks me to have to wait. but my back and i have had several long chats about this sort of thing, and now i may be annoyed, but i'm also very grateful he is interested and willing to put it together. i also bought the gidget II but i stood it up and made sure the leg supports were engaged ( to be married in july they hope). i walked past and gently pushed it out of the way and it crashed to the floor. awfully glad i didn't have my machine on it! so that one is going back. i'm astonished at the prices for these, and honestly, they aren't what i call quality! but if it's sturdy, the right height and otherwise does the job, i'll be happy!

my sewing machine table looks a lot like a dinner table. in fact it is a dinner table. No cabinet. I think there is a case for the machine its neve put up long enough to need one. Nancia you goofy one.. everyday is VIRTUAL quilters day here in quiltingboard forums :) yesterday was a marvelously good day. Warm like I thought 65 but it was only 58. Sunny, doors wide open windows open.. I sewed for hours. Cut all these pieces for my quilt for quilters quilt. Then sewed all the hst's and 4 st's and I can actually see the quilt coming along now. Before I was a tiny bit scared my big mouth got me in trouble with the I can do that! phew. I pulled all the fabrics for Marybeths and its gorgeous stuff. green/fuschia/gold/royal blue and that is just one fabric! lol lucky for her the others are in those tones also so its not too crazy. She just rolled into Oregon so I am given a tiny reprieve before I start that project. phew again! so Nancia get out a lighter put it right behind your dh pants and tell him ONE .... TWO.. and when he asks what your doing you let him know your giving him inspiration to get his rear in gear and BUILD YOUR DESK pretty please. or you can come over and share my table with me.. not sure where we go to cut but you can share my table any time.

Nancia not sure where you're geographically located but by any chance do you have a cabinet maker close by (quick side gig for a worker) or a high school or college aged neighbor that has a few decent skills that could help you with your project? My baby girls boyfriend's papa is the handyman at their church and he's always willing to pitch in for a church member - maybe someone like that; we also have a great senior center with a 'guy's shop' wherein the guys are always looking for something to work on. Just simple suggestions for your non-operating sm cabinet; if I lived near by I'd zip over have a cup of coffee and help you myself - the mister and I have put together more Sauder styled projects than most - the key is to look at the packaging list and make certain all the items are there and lay them all out in A B C order as they are listed on the sheet - next is just following the directions. My sewing machine table is an old oversized office desk with two rows of drawers on the far right side - unfortuanately my sewing space is not that large so I am unable to utilize the drawers without moving a bunch of stuff so they can be opened. Best part of my sewing space is the windows - I'm able to look outside while I'm sewing - not much of a view right now with winter being here but still it's an outside view. One day I hope to have a Tracy Sewing Desk ....... bucket list.

Worked hard today on my TR. Of course, I have changed the pattern a bit, so have been cutting, sewing, checking, cutting, sewing. It will get done, but will take far longer than if I had done one by the pattern I chose to use - but mine is way different that theirs!!!

MaryMazz 02-17-2013 06:06 AM

Sounds exciting to me, since we are partners! I am being "creative" as well. Why do we all try to make our lives more difficult and try to manipulate a perfectly well written pattern? I guess we like the challenge.
