Anastasia’s Table Topper/Runner Swap -- Closed

Anastasia’s Table Topper/Runner Swap

This Swap will close February 5th.

Welcome to my corner. This is a Table Topper or Table Runner swap.

A Table Topper would be any shape that would be a centerpiece; this should be a minimum size of 16" across the longest point. For instance, I made a hexagon table topper and it is 16" from one corner to another at its widest point and each of its six sides are 8".
A Table Runner should be a minimum size of 12"x28". Table runners are typically longer than they are wide.

How it works:
This swap will be a partnered swap. You will work with your partner to determine colors and sizes that will work with them. THE THEME IS SPRING.
Design and method will be up to the creator but since this is something that will be on a table and likely spilled on, make sure whatever you make is washable on at least a gentle cycle.
Please PM me with the following information by February 5th. I will then match up names and get them returned to you by February 10[SUP]th[/SUP]. You will have until March 15[SUP]th[/SUP] to mail the finished product.

Board Name:
Real Name:
Address:
City:
State:
Zip:
Phone #: (this will NOT be given to your partner, this is for my use only in the event that a problem should arise)
Do you have any allergies:
Can you ship international:
Do you have the ability to post pictures:

It is encouraged and acceptable to post pictures of fabric choices, progress. I would like some lively conversation; someone has to keep me awake through midterms and finals.

Please notify me as soon as possible if you feel you cannot complete your obligation. Please don’t sign up if you don’t think you can achieve a finished product in the time allotted.

People who fail to follow-through and do not notify me will be banned from any of my future swaps (should there be any) and your name may be given to other swap hosts. Obviously, things happen in life and I will certainly consider that, but you must communicate. I reach out fairly regularly to check on progress so there is no excuse for not telling me if there might be a delay.

So jump on board everyone and join the fun!

Now for the legalese.

****Please make sure to read the general rules that apply to all swaps here at the Quilting Board:http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-20154-1.htm ****

I am required to insist that participants send me a monthly PM to verify that they are still active in this swap and are working on their promised project.

I am required to insist that participants notify me as soon as they have finished their quilt and are ready to mail it.

Once I have received notice that both partners are done and ready to mail, I will send both a PM to let them know it’s time to mail.

I am required to insist that all participants send me verification of shipment, to include tracking information.

Participants are required to ensure packages will not arrive “postage due.”

Any and all other fees, such as import duties, taxes, etc imposed by the recipient’s government are the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Absent legitimate and reported mitigating circumstances, participants who have not fulfilled their obligation to ship by March 15th shall be deemed “late” and risk receiving Negative [Swap] Feedback.

Please keep in touch with me as required. Please let me know right away if something happens that will interfere with your ability to complete your project on time.

Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So … please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate.

DustysMomma 01-23-2013 04:50 AM

So this time, since we're not asked to give decor color hints, we can start as soon as we decide we're in! :D

jaba 01-23-2013 07:16 AM

Okay I'm 4th on the list. Can't leave me out. Hurry I need a partner so she can tell me what color she wants

Elisabrat 01-23-2013 07:35 AM

I need color Jaba! anyone suprise me? UGH everyone hates that one. people speak loud and clear on your hopes color wise. it is so much more fun to make something you know might actually be liked.

color oh dear.. I think lilacs. My mom had lilacs planted outside our livingroom widows. I loved the smell of them. Boy she always had a magnificent garden full of flowers, spring summer. oodles of flowers fruit trees blossoming in spring wow what a move back in time. I never realized how many hours she spent there. She oil painted, cooked gourmet foods, sewed like no tomorrow, knit with her eyes closed. wow she gave all of us a bit of each gift. I sew and cook, my one sis is a master gardner, makes natural soaps she sells at williamsburg festivals .. she paints oil. A lil sis who scrapbooks and crafts and an older who is bigtime into gourmet and gardening. You see these are precious gifts. a way of continuing on. So.. for me.. how about lilacs or tulips or hyachynths or well flowers?? how about flowers. oh parnter of mine maybe that is easy. love the theme anastasia. ready set go!
oh yes hello Jaba and Tracibug. welcome back! this is going to be fun.

dabbler312 01-23-2013 09:40 AM

I guess I'm number 5 - good thing I learned to count; I had a lot of fun doing the last swap - I couldn't let this one go by without participating. I too love to garden - not even close to master status - just a dabbler/tinker - as they say a jill of all trades and master of none.

My husband and I were married while we were on a business trip to Ottawa, Ontario two years ago come May. It was during the tulip festival... I've not really gone all cutesy with this one as it wasn't our first so something with tulips would be nice. White ones, if possible, red and purple accents.

Vanogay 01-23-2013 03:33 PM

Well, I'm in. By my count, guess I'll be the first one on the second hand (number 6 - unless you have more than 5 fingers on the first hand).

jaba 01-23-2013 03:39 PM

You are so wise with wisdom Vanogay, I counted and that's how many I have too! So fun all of us will be making each other more.....

Vanogay 01-23-2013 03:49 PM

I found something Jaba that I think you would love. I have it waiting until perhaps I get your name as a Secret Pal or perhaps as the table swap partner. With all the swaps you and I participate in, perhaps it will happen soon. Now you can wonder...

Tam...Moo 01-23-2013 04:37 PM

I am in...loved the runner I received and that is my very first runner so I would like to add to my collection.

kiffie2413 01-23-2013 05:05 PM

Okay, I am throwing caution and sanity to the wind (hmm...must have sanity to toss it, tho...) and signing up again...this will force me to get over there and start playing with my new machine...and also on this one I am pledging that part of the quilting will be fmq and I will not revert back to hand quilting!!! Um, probably....:o
Kif

DustysMomma 01-23-2013 05:20 PM

Kiffie, your hand quilting was so adorable on my runner! I took it to work with me today and both the ladies in my office were so jealous!

Ana, feel free to pop over to my swap and post a link! It'll be nice to see your "face in the place!"

Elisabrat 01-23-2013 06:11 PM

hey Anastasia has a face! she does not. fooling me again dustysmom. And lovely wedding photo I have tulip fabric but its not white its black with red tulips or its white with pink and purple and I think coral tulips on it. very pretty stuff. I am thinking the black one is too dark for spring its a good deep romantic thing but not all spring long. Who doesnt want a spring one btw? if you dont yell ok as your signing up say hey love it sign me up oh oh yeah I really dont like spring and flowers and happy thoughts and yeah yell. lol its me guys.. if you want serious talk to those .. other guys all around me.

hand quilting? sure take my teeth out with carving knives while your at it. oh and I will paper piece while its happening. oh uh NO. I like stitching squares together by hand but the actual quilting. ugh. come on over to the darker side K the one with electricity and .. machines. that thing you paid good money for. try it it doesnt hurt at all and look at all the time you will have to sew more things for swaps now that your using that machine. You can even name it if you like as you become closer friends.

do you name your machines ladies? mine is called..machine. I dont have a name. it hates me I know it does.

DustysMomma 01-23-2013 06:43 PM

I think my machine needs a name too. I think I shall name her Evelyn after my gramma. She's the reason I started sewing again, and the reason I wanted to learn to quilt to begin with years ago. She's also the one who taught me to crochet. Hard to believe she's been gone almost 6 months. This time last year I was preparing to go visit her over spring break. Mother had to remind her who I was, she thought mother was my aunt, and she tried to pick up my boyfriend (that's Gramma for ya, lol), but I still loved seeing her. She gave me a crocheted butterfly while I was there, which I keep in my nightstand drawer. If I know her, she's probably somewhere crocheting more baby things and trying to figure out how she can get an angel to come off their halo so she can use it for a crafting project, lol.

Elisabrat, any runner is a good runner. A little black in the spring can be useful if it's done right. I'm thinking of a bunch of tulips against a black wall. That would be kind of cool. Ooh, I could even use some of that rainbow thread I have to stitch the edges....pillowcase style, not binding. I do have some black loons that are supposed to be stuffed but could be used for applique. They came in a batch of stuff I got for $25.

Oh, that reminds me! If anyone knows of an organization that would like to be the recipient of a bag full of medieval style costume patterns, give me a shout. There's probably a dozen or so in the bag & I can send pictures if needed when the camera comes back from Denmark.

jaba 01-23-2013 07:26 PM

Vanogay, just make it and send it no problem! When you get my name (instead of us on a bench somewhere) you can remind me I already got part of it! Oh yeh, that'll work. And my dear little hubby just reminded me you only have 4 fingers on each hand and 1 thumb. Isn't he special?

Vanogay 01-24-2013 04:58 AM

DustysMomma, I would love the appliqued loons on my spring runner - I am a bird type person and their woeful call (the loons) is a real magical sound. Well, to me it is! Maybe not to the brat though.
Jaba, your hubby is correct. I started to say that, but figured I was the only one ana....riciduluous enough to think that way. And I don't want to upset my host for the Super Bowl, do I? Which team are we rooting for? I have a fair board meeting at 2 that day and then it's home to the TV and whatever food I have fixed before hand. Hand stitching, football and I are best of friends.

DustysMomma 01-24-2013 05:22 AM

Vanogay, i was looking at the photo I took of them in the bag & I think they would be too big for this runner. The head alone is about the size of a sandwich size ziplock bag. I might be able to work it into a throw size, but I think it would be too much for a runner, lol. I'm not sure I've ever heard a loon in person...

Anastasia 01-24-2013 07:01 AM

Loon is the Minnesota state bird, I've heard them, but never SEEN one.

jaba 01-24-2013 07:20 AM

Not sure Vanogay, you toss the coin and we'll decide which team. I really don't care either way but like you I will be watching for sure. Probably be sewing too on something, a new table runner maybe. Ana had to take out the surprise factor so now we'll know who, darn I like the surprise.

Anastasia 01-24-2013 07:32 AM

The surprise factor unfortunately makes more work for me hehe. I prefer it too.

Hi Linda,
I am sooo trying to come to the er, "dark side"...lol...Its not that I am opposed to machine quilting...its that I am not one iota of a bit good at it, especially fmq!!! It is opposed to me!! I have a gazillion books, have joined some Craftsy classes, taken classes at my local quilt group....and I just can't seem to stop the thread breakage, birds nesting, needle breaking from happening...the only fmq I have done that was ok was on some 12" square blocks that I made that I change out monthly on a wall hanging I made...I know I need to practice more, and I also bought a dry erase board to just practice the movements by hand, it is over in the corner, still in the plastic....kinda under my Grace machine frame dh put together for me months ago and all the quilts I have sandwiched waiting to be quilted...fmq'd....ARGH!!! Save me from myself!!!:p
So, I am hoping that actually having a quality machine will help me...though I have seen some amazing fmq done by people who have machines that are just like what I have owned in the past...so I know in my heart it is not the machine...it is me, say it again Kif, It is ME!!

lvbabyboomer 01-25-2013 10:20 AM

Okay, I'm in for the next one even though I have not received mine yet. Anastia is working on the problem. I have the worst luck with these swaps, but the first time on this site.

Diane

Elisabrat 01-25-2013 02:39 PM

When the swaps work the way they are supposed to they are great. Its sad when a person can take something yet not return their part of the deal. if you cant do it within the time frame be real with yourself. wait. there will be a time when you might be able to join in. Dont do it if you arent good to go with rules. timelines. reality. just my humble. and anyone can squeeze four or five hours out if it even takes you that long over the time frame of these swaps. an hour here there it adds up. that tv show can wait it will be there next week. sheesh. I am sorry you still havent received yours yet sure hope it comes with a nice fat apology.

ok vanogay your just trying to steal the good ones from me for your information loons have a wonderful sound and I enjoy them very much. i am a big nature lover minus spides which they can become extinct and we can find some other bug to do their job. I was thinking I am excited personally about having a partner. You trade emails get to know a bit about them like they have three legs, fly space ships, eat turtles and love quilting. stuff like that. or you get people like me who are actually SUPRISE! sane. I know its true but unless your my partner you would never know that stuff.

Tracy well how about a loon head quilt! put the head on one end the rear on the other side and well something abstract in the middle then send it to vanogay! me you could just put a rear on each end of the runner and something goofy in themiddle the man here would get a kick out of a bird rear cloth. After the goodies he brings me I think it might just work .. currently I have a forest tablerunner from jaba on the coffee table he loves. It kinda resembles turkey feathers an there deer, and fish on it and well all others go straight to the other table. this is HIS its got antlers as the center piece and he is in man heaven.

for that I will add one last one be thankful ever thankful that he is mine. He mentioned down at the pond there was a decomposing skunk. oh ok. then it hit me and I said uh your not going to go back for the skull are you? he said well maybe. OMG. I can put it next to the squirrel one he brought me. OMG twice. pray something takes it away first. skunk doubt it. oh crud. so when you get silly gifts remember what you could have gotten. just thank your lucky stars its not a dead critters skull.

dabbler312 01-25-2013 03:00 PM

Linda - I know a gal around here that processes skunk hides; a fella wanted to make a skunk fur coat for the fur traders and voyagers weekends he attends - she's been trapping for twenty plus years; her second husband taught her how so now she runs miles and miles of trap lines.

I'm a huge fan of the great outdoors and I like to go fishing/camping/hiking etc and I love watching critters in their natural environment.

Vanogay 01-25-2013 03:51 PM

Traci, don't pay any attention to the Brat - she's been sniffing the starch from her ironing bottle. Reduce that loon for my table runner. Just try the head on Brats, she can put othre skulls (real ones) on the other end and make it look 3-D!!

Agreed! I was about 3 days late sending mine out, which I loathe being late!! I had a broken machine and some "dye running from red silk thread issues"...I was in touch with Anastasia about it all, and was racing like a mad woman to get it finished! I know emergencies happen...but if it seems to happen over and over from the same person, well..And, for me, if I couldn't have gotten mine done, I would have asked Anastasia if I could send my "swappee" the table runner that I had received....and I LOVE the one I got...but to me that would be a fair option...and this is just my humble opinion...
K

kiffie2413 01-25-2013 06:40 PM

Also, Elisabrat, my dh sounds like he would fit right in with some of the "critter stuff" you speak of...I actually call him Jed Clampett...We have been married almost 30 years..so it is said with love...mainly..
He has his Critterville room, and residing in there are several rattlesnake skins he tanned from ones he has killed, a wild boar skull that he did a "European Mount" on, whatever that means...he and our son shot it in Dec 2011, and yes, it was processed and they love the meat! I admit I have tried the pork chops, and they are good...but the sausage, pulled pork, etc...no thanks! He also has a tarantula that is encased in plexiglass...and this past summer he came in and had a horned toad skeleton...he found it on our acreage, weird deal, as it looks like it was just standing and died, every bone intact...dh said he had never seen anything like it, and of course it is now sitting on a shelf in there, too..I have some pics of his stuff, but I don't know if it would be ok to share them here...quilting to critters...hmm...probably not.
Whats really funny is when we moved out to the country, and had our 1st big storm and lost electricity (our house is all electric, so when it goes there is no heat or a/c, no water (well pump is electric), etc). Tho I don't hunt or "rough it" well, I always considered myself more like Laura Ingalls...after our 1st storm experience I told dh I was more like Nellie Olsen...we both laughed thinking of Nellie with Jed...

jaba 01-25-2013 07:20 PM

Hang in there Kiffee, trust me I know it's hard to do. I've been in the "sitting on the bench" and waiting spot many a time and this month I can honestly say I got most of my swaps promptly. But it does seem like every swap on the board has been a disaster in January, it has to be some kind of freak thing. I got a Pm from a lady saying I should have her package but didn't let her know, oops she had me confused with someone else. Then I get a package out of the blue, she says she got my name, but I already have my 2 boxes and my partners have theirs. Still have to send her a PM tonight and find out her address and real name, then does she want me to send it back or should I send her a surprise box? Honest, crazy stuff is in the air.

It's the freezing cold - some just can't handle it. LOL

jaba 01-25-2013 09:34 PM

Could be dabbler312, could be.

Anastasia 01-26-2013 10:33 AM

I darned sure can't handle the freezing cold and I'm a minnesotan. That's why I made the last swap take SOO Long. I knew it was either going to give the people the time to deal with the holiday runaround and chaos, or it was going to make them forget.. SO I kept up with reminder PMs and harassments.. I mean.. uh.. hehe. Yea. There's always people who will be faster than others. I personally can't even get anything done until it's last minute.. Not sure what it is.. I'm a professional procrastinator. I don't mind late if I know what's going on and can relay the information so the person receiving isn't feeling jipped. I can tell them, hey just hang on, it's on it's way. I'm sure everyone is ok with that vs not knowing at all.

K[/QUOTE. It happen to me also,my belt broke,on my machine, and I was running all over trying to borrow one so I could finish it,,I didn't mean to be late,I also felt bad, getting it out late, but I hoping she will like it,and forgive me ,,iam in for this one and have a plane goin just waiting on my name,,

jaba 01-26-2013 01:31 PM

I don't mind the being late so much as long as I know. It's the not saying anything that drives me nuts. But I will admit, I am one that when I sign up I do it right then and mail. This is just the way I started and I know if I changed now, I'd forget something and would be late all the time. Don't want that!

Vanogay 01-26-2013 02:36 PM

I agree with Jaba - as long as I know I don't mind the late - the waiting. It's when nothing is being said that make everything hard and I have been on the bench - in the cold - all alone - waiting - looking inside that mailbox, sniff, sniff!! I got my table runner pretty much on time and my secret pal boxes as well. Maybe 2013 is going to be a good year for me!!

Elisabrat 01-26-2013 06:58 PM

oh it is maybe you will get me Vanogay and heck a few suprises from the man as well extra credit gifts! let me ask what is in his pocket..HONEY?
dabbler he wants to see the skunk coat. he said that would be soooo cool. sigh.
Dear Nellie and Mr. Clampett the dear man would love to come stay with you and go on a treasure hunt. he kept knodding as I read your post and he said see! see! GROAN.

Alright are we there yet? ready ready.. I hope that by now all has been resolved. Your all correct notification is the key. if your late your late sometimes life happens but dont just hide under your dinner table and hope no one notices. SAY SOMETHING its truly not that hard. then I wont have to start singing again like I did in the last swap. no one wants me singing. la la la laaa (need a quick tune anyone).

I hope all that late talk does not prohibit new sign ups. This is a great swap and worked mostly really well lol. Same as all the other swaps. for the most part it went very smooth. the chatter is fun. the work in progress is great inspiration and well I have to make this for someone! anyone want one of my runners??? no glitter promise.. unless you like glitter :). I will even make you a Christmas runner if you prefer! or a halloween or an easter or a fourth of july one whatever you want I can do it. mostly unless you want like horses fresh out of horses. oh oh I have some cute cat fabrics.. maybe a chocolate and raspberry colored runner? cabbage and roses? (kaffe fassette)
