That's a good idea, Sewbizgirl. Between booms. I might look this up now too. FYI, I'm going to have a little break between booms 18 and 19. It'll be good for me. I have a yearlong commitment on the QB, the UFO challenge thread, and I've neglected it. I need to put it first for a while and help encourage more UFO finishes. And those of you who consistently swap here might be able to use a break as well. I'm thinking since this one ends late April, I might start 19 in mid-late June. We'll see. It is a definite go, just delayed a bit. Plenty of time to shop your stash for fabrics or find something totally new with no pressure.

I'll be back with you on Sunday or Monday. I'm off until then. Have a great weekend. :)

Ibex, hope you can stop driving the mail truck soon and spend some fun time with your sewing machine. Your blocks last swap were amazing.

Thanks Muse for the very fun block

What a clever block idea! Love it.

I made this block for you. It doesn't seem right for you not to have a block. It has everyone's fabric in it. I think someone else (maybe Kass) did this too. I hope you can use it.

marija 03-16-2017 04:22 PM

What will the fabric be for boom 19?

joanelizbay 03-16-2017 04:34 PM

I was thinking about the mystery train too between booms but Judy said shes going to put the next one off until july or aug. She said shes ready for some down time! :) Marija its whatever fabric you want to use!!

Kassaundra 03-16-2017 04:50 PM

Thank you Muse I love the star block you made for me.

mollymunchkin 03-16-2017 07:40 PM

Janice
Mid June works for me, as summer break starts June 9th. I might even be able to join both groups. I am currently participating in National Quilters Circle 9 blocks 9 weeks challenge and the Moda Blockheads, which will give me plenty to do between booms.

sewbizgirl 03-16-2017 08:03 PM

Love your blocks, Muse. I love those day/night type blocks like you made for Kass. And Terri's block reminds me of a rock thrown into a pond... the waves rippling away from the point of impact. Very cool how you worked the stripes with the red.

I'm good with a break til the next Boom.... I'm hoping to go to the AQS show in Paducah this year and I'm sure I'll come back with all kinds of ideas and projects to try, so it will be good to have that time. And maybe I'll get the Mystery Train 16 made.

I'm at my daughter's in Memphis tonight and early in the morning I'll be leaving for a day trip to Marshall's Dry Goods in Arkansas. I'm so excited i may not sleep tonight! I love going there.

Sewbiz you are one lucky lady. Hope you have fun at Marshall's

Libster 03-17-2017 06:24 AM

Yep, I'm a little green over here too!

Kassaundra 03-17-2017 06:41 AM

I would be too, but a new little quilt / fabric store just opened 11 miles from my house. I haven't been yet but today I'm off to explore. It is no Marshall's but it is my first and only non Wally world choice w/i 50 miles so that is taking the sting out a little bit! lol

terriamn 03-17-2017 08:41 AM

Kass that would be horrible to be so far from a fabric store. Joann Fabrics is 10 minutes from me, a quilt shop is 20 minutes away and there are 3 on the way to and from my sister's.

Well I went to the little shop and the owners were extremely friendly, the prices were very reasonable. They just opened 2 weeks ago so they don't have a huge selection (but already bigger then my selection at Wally world) but if / when they fill all the shelves they have ready the selection will be great! Even better news is they are putting in a long arm machine, the owner does quilting, I saw some of her work and it is very nice so when my La Pass is ready for the quilting I am set!!!!! I got a couple of pieces for fussy cutting in my La Pass today.

And here is a pic of the foundling chicks we rescued a few days ago they are thriving.

sewbizgirl 03-17-2017 10:33 AM

I'm at the little barbecue place up the road, taking a lunch break from all the grueling shopping! Hah. I'll take some pics for y'all when I get back to Marshalls.

Kass the chicks are so cute! I want to cuddle their warm fuzzy little bodies!

marietta 03-17-2017 10:49 AM

Wonderful Blocks everyone!!

Very pretty wall hanging GramE. I'll have to go find the clues for it.

:D thanks for the joke Ibex, Rough couple of weeks here

mjp ~ Great block for Janice

Kassaundra loving all the chic pics, the rescue ones are adorable
Good luck to the new quilt shop, so many seem to be closing these days
We had a new one open a couple of months ago, same as your new one, small and she does quilting. Already have had her do one for me.

GramE 03-17-2017 11:04 AM

Kass, I would thrive too, if you were feeding me Crunch & Munch!

Kassaundra 03-17-2017 11:07 AM

They would have to fight the toothless 2 lb dog for his crunch and munch!!!!!

I couldn't figure out how to upload photos from my phone so I had to wait to get back to my daughter's and my laptop.

Guess what I spotted in the window of a downtown hardware store in Batesville, just around the corner from Marshall's? CHICKS!

And here are a couple of shots from the retail part of Marshall's:

$2.99 flat folds, tons of them!

More flat folds, with the bolts behind them. Sorry it's sideways...

Outside of the store... pretty unassuming looking building but full of lots of goodies inside!

No idea why my photos went sideways... they are right side up on my computer!

Kassaundra 03-17-2017 03:50 PM

Chicks and affordable fabric, bestill my heart!!!!

Marietta, I got the fabric today, thanks

joanelizbay 03-17-2017 05:10 PM

I order a LOT from Marshalls...It would take me more than a day and a LOT of money if I went there. I always love their fabric. Do they have bolts to cut from as well as flat folds?? Lucky woman you are!!

All2Pieces 03-17-2017 05:38 PM

Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone!

Chicks and fabric galore. What fun!
Jaba, I think it was you who asked what pattern I used last. It's a variation of "All Hallows Variation" from Quilters cache. I used solid corner triangles instead of the pieced ones in the pattern.

I think that is it for me, I will double check if I have enough of anyone's fabric to make any bonus blocks, but I am nearly positive I don't.

GramE 03-17-2017 06:31 PM

Beautiful block!

sewbizgirl 03-17-2017 08:36 PM

Kass, that is a beautiful block...

Joan, yes they have tons of bolts to cut from, and they also will cut the flat folds if it's a big piece and you don't want it all. They also have wider cotton and very wide backing fabrics, minkee, fleece, flannel, and all kinds of other things. I brought home two bags of fabric and a huge roll of poly batting that I use for my nice fluffy donation quilts. I got some great pieces off the 'dollar-a-yard' table too. That's for anything they find a flaw in-- it gets tossed on the dollar table.

All in all I was very restrained. Only bought about a quarter as much as I normally do. Go, me.

Kass, my block is fabulous! Wow! I love it. The 3D effect is even better than I imagined. I love your creative blocks. Thank you.

marietta 03-18-2017 04:52 AM

Fantastic block Kass!

terriamn 03-18-2017 05:33 AM

Kas cute chicks 🐥 and sounds like you enjoyed your quilt shop adventure

Bonnie that is an incredible amount of fabric

Ibex thanks for the bobbin, great one for Nat'l quilting day

GramE your walkhanging is so pretty and springy

Hope to finish the donation table runner a friend asked me to make piecing went well just need to add last border, quilt and bind it. Not sure if the finger is up hand binding yet. I am going to all the gal when it's finished and I think it should be her responsibility to either pick it up or pay postage Do you think that is asking to much?

mollymunchkin - here are 2 blocks for you. The first one has both your fabrics. You'll see how much I had left over of the stripe. The plain blue and wow block reminds me of a dragonfly.

I went to Trenton, Florida today - where there is a Quilt Museum and there was a Quilt Festival. It was a beautiful day and was so cool to see all the quilts hanging throughout the small town. The Quilt store was packed and DH had been so good letting me look at all the quilts, I didn't buy one thing!!

And then there were a couple of very interesting items. The first one is really made of square blocks. What a cool idea making the strips lopsided. Even DH had to go up to it!
The second one reminded me of SewBiz's quilt - the choir made out of crown royal material.
the third was part of a very intense busy quilt and I wish I had this insert.
Hope you can all expand them
