Ohhh just got through looking and the pics didn't come close to doing them justice. Thanks so much fellow boomers and especially our fearless leader Janice.

Muse&Sew 04-21-2017 12:11 PM

Yea! My squishy came in the mail. I'm so happy & excited about this space quilt. Thanks so much for all of your beautiful blocks! :)

Marietta, I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother!
:(That's a hard one. Prayers sent your way!

terriamn 04-21-2017 12:20 PM

I have wonderful news to share, not only did all my great blocks arrive about 5 minutes ago. After 21 days in hospital little Liam went home this morning.

Marietta I am so sorry on the loss of your brother my heart goes out to you

Libster 04-21-2017 12:46 PM

Marietta, I, too, send hugs on the loss of your brother. That's a hard one. Been there.
Terri, I'm so happy to hear that Liam is doing so much better and able to go home with Mom and Dad. Happy day!
Janice, thank you for being the perfect hostess. We would be totally lost without you. ((((((Hugs))))))
I think I've left feedback for everyone in this group. If I've missed someone, please let me know. Don't want to leave anyone out.
Until the next Boom, Ladies!

joanelizbay 04-21-2017 02:42 PM

Oh Terri..thats such wonderful news!! We all need to continue to pray for his health! Hugs....
Marietta. Im sorry about your brother. I lost my sister and I dont think we ever quite get over it.
No squissys for me..suppose to be tomorrow... I dont do the feedback but appreciate all that do!

jaba 04-21-2017 03:15 PM

Terri that's great news, hope the little guy keeps improving!
Marietta, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I have been there with my brother also.. it takes some time but it does get better. I try to remember the good times and events that we had together, special things we did and it really makes me smile. You will get to this point too.
joanelizbay, everyone likes the feedback if you can. If you have trouble with it, I'd be glad to help you and walk you through it if you wish, just let me know.
Janice- Thank you so much for another Boom! Your time and effort are so appreciated, you are the one that makes it all possible. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you
The post office says tomorrow is my day, I will be doing the happy dance! Just finished the binding on the quilt for the 2 month group....it is done! I'm ready for the new one. Thank you all for the blocks that you made for me, I put your board name on the block you make so I can always look back and remember. I love these friendship quilts, to me they are special knowing you take the time to pick a pattern, read the notes, try to adhere to color choices and most of all to make the best 12 1/2" square you can. I look back at past booms and I can see how all of us have improved on our skills....that's a very good thing! Thank you all very much. Will post some pics soon..........

mjpEncinitas 04-21-2017 03:22 PM

I'm just overwhelmed everyone. All the blocks were awesome. My husband and I so enjoyed looking them. The talent and craftsmanship is amazing. Thank you.

Janice you are an awesome facilitator. Your help to me and willingness to help me individually was amazing. Your gift of time was greatly appreciated.

I switched the direction of the center block I made for you. Still included some extra strips in case you decide to make other adjustments.

mjpEncinitas 04-21-2017 03:35 PM

Jaba would you please leave directions on how to leave feedback. I've played around for 15 minutes and its not intuitive and I can't find directions either. Thanks,

Marietta I am using my Day of the Dead quilt to remember my sister and my dad. I'm thinking of you. It's hard to lose a sibling.

Yeah for baby Liam. Great news! Made me smile.

I'm still looking at my blocks.

sewbizgirl 04-21-2017 04:51 PM

Hooray for Liam... what a fighter! Hope he stays healthy and grows.

I won't see my blocks til I get back home, but thanks to those who have already started leaving feedback. Yes, feedback is a good thing. It's easy to do and if you don't want to write anything you can just click on "positive" with no comment.

Look at the person's post in the thread... then click on the highlighted number next to where it says "feedback score" on the last line under their name (left sidebar). That opens their feedback page, just like magic! Then look to the right sidebar and click on "leave feedback for 'so and so'." Easy peasy once you know the secret.

Kassaundra 04-21-2017 05:30 PM

When I first saw the pieces I was like ????? then I remembered you saying something about including pieces incase I wanted to change something, but the block looks good to me.

Thanks sewbiz for explaining feedback. Hubby and I went to dinner and just got home It's been gloomy and overcast all day here. I got up this morning at 5:15 and it was raining and hasn't quit yet. It's cold here, a whole wet 40 deg. Brrr

Hey My mail lady came by early today YAY!!!!! I was able to take the time and go through every block and put them on my design wall. Ladies thank you I'm already getting a kick out of them and all I did was iron and toss them up as in order as I opened them. A couple of you mentioned that this fabric challenged you. In my opinion you more than met the challenge and I'm happy to know it helped you stretch yourself as a quilter. Beautiful beautiful work ladies, I'm going to name this one here kitty kitty. Thank you all!

Terri: awesome news on baby Liam.

Marietta: I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope soon you can think of him with Joy and laughter in your heart.

I look forward to seeing all the completed quilts :)

marija 04-21-2017 07:13 PM

Received my blocks today, what fun to see them all, after a day of shopping for a new clothes dryer.
My thoughts are with you Marietta & Terri.
Many thanks to Janet, our hostess.

terriamn 04-21-2017 07:24 PM

Mine are also ironed and on design wall but my wall only holds 20 blocks. Think I have the right color sashing fabric. Maybe just maybe I will actually finish one of my boom quilts. To think it's the one with the wildest and brightest fabrics of all. The blocks look fantastic together, thanks all.

mjpEncinitas 04-21-2017 08:40 PM

Ok You're going to laugh at me. My husband was admiring all the blocks and he said you're in trouble, these blocks are all squares and triangles, I've never seen you make a block with squares and triangles in it. I pulled out Marietta's, Ibex, and Billi's blocks so he wouldn't be too concerned. I bet he was thinking, at least they're a few others like her in this boom.

Five of these blocks will get hand embroidery and beading on them. All of them will get special FMQ on them. Thank goodness I'm much better at FMQ than piecing. We have a three week vacation in the van so lots of time for the hand sewing. Then they will be made into three 'sister' quilts that will honor my sister and father be used for wall hangings. I'll put a picture up when they're done.

Let me know if I missed you for feedback. It's been a pleasure everyone.

Received my package today, thank you everyone. Just ironed and put them on the design wall so they aren't organized yet but they are here. Your blocks are going to blend very nicely into a quilt and no duplicates of patterns. I think they look awesome together!

NanaKathy55 04-22-2017 02:00 PM

Well hello Ladies...been MIA but received my blocks yesterday and I am just amazed at all the beautiful blocks I have received...THANK YOU ...THANK YOU...THANK YOU..is all I can say. They are so beautiful and I love each and every one of them..Hopefully this will get me out of the funk I have been in for 2 months...

sewbizgirl 04-22-2017 05:44 PM

Your block collection looks great, Jaba.

NanaK, hope you feel better. Playing with your blocks is good therapy! :)

terriamn 04-22-2017 07:17 PM

Nana Kathybso sorry you have been in a funk, hope this takes your mind off things and you can once again enjoy sewing. Sending big hugs

joanelizbay 04-23-2017 05:20 AM

Got my envelope yesterday...I agree, they are so much prettier in person! Thank you everyone. Have to get to Joanns to find sashing fabric for both March and April..hope I get some more coupons soon from them :)

All2Pieces 04-23-2017 05:35 AM

Got such a nice Earth Day present yesterday. Thanks everyone for such great blocks. I really appreciate the work y'all put in. Thanks for swapping with me.

Here is the class photo for the class of 18. The plan for assembling includes a pieced sashing I found so I seperated them for the pic. One is going to have to go on the back, haven't quite made up my mind which one. I love how they work together and they are all lovely, thanks so much for the time and energy you put into them. (thinking about quilting w/ orange thread) The sashing will be mostly grey w/ pops of orange and yellow.

Since I'm uploading pics might as well include a pic or two of the little naked

He got his first outfit this week, a child's sock tunic. He wasn't impressed!!! lol

All2Pieces 04-23-2017 06:45 AM

Kass - he is too funny!

ibex94 04-23-2017 06:54 AM

The package has arrived; I had enough time to open it but no time to pull anything out, lol. Thank you all for my beautiful blocks! Hopefully, I can spread mine out like Kass with my fairy wheels and start making plans at some point today. I'll show you what I can.

Kass, your chicken is precious.

Libster 04-23-2017 08:56 AM

Kass, I just love Himself AND his new outfit! Your quilt is going to be spectacular.

Kassaundra 04-23-2017 09:12 AM

I would like to clarify something, the block I chose to put on the back is not in any way considered as a "throw away" or inferior block by me. One has to go to the back as a simple math issue, the choice was made based on the color story layout I have planned (I just told a fellow boomer I may dance naked in the moonlight, but I do it in an ordered row! lol) But do not despair a cool back has been planned w/ that singleton as the center attraction.

Can't wait to see what you do with your quilt. Now that I am holding your tinkerbell block in my hands, I am amazed at the fantastic stiching. You're inspiring me to try something new with my machine! I'm afraid that my first attempt at machine applique was not nearly as precise as yours is. You are an artist. So glad you participated in this boom!

Kassaundra 04-23-2017 11:59 AM

Just tested my grey sashing fabric (not traditional quilting cotton) and it is washable and doesn't shrink and is in my stash, win, win, win. But I will have to buy the orange, I don't have enough of any one orange in the stash.

travelinggramma 04-23-2017 05:32 PM

My mom has received my blocks. We are waiting out the rain in Charlottesville VA. heading to Harrisonburg to see the VA a quilt museum hopefully tomorrow. One tire on rig (we have 8) does not want to hold air so yet another trip to tire shop first thing in morning. May be a week before I get to touch those precious blocks.
Keep posting those pics,

terriamn 04-23-2017 05:50 PM

Kass your blocks look great. I'm going to add some of my blocks to the back also. Literally lined up the blocks as they came out of the bag

How do you protect the nakeds from getting sunburnt

Kassaundra 04-23-2017 05:58 PM

They have shade, they have never gotten sun burned.

marietta 04-24-2017 07:40 AM

Thank you ladies for all the kind words they were very much appreciated.
Received my wonderful blocks, Love them all and like everyone said the pics really do not do them justice.
Thank You all, Not just for the blocks but helping out a newbie, being so kind with your advice and generous with sharing your lives.

Yeah for Liam!!

hugs to NanaKathy

and no Kass, Himself does not look impressed :D

GramE 04-24-2017 09:10 AM

WOW WOW WOW! Some pretty awesome blocks, dear friends. Hoping to get to come the team time you have a play date! I think I'm going to go open my squishy with the orange blocks in it. Need to work on a center medallion square and I put the back in the bag after I ogled them for a few days. ❤️❤️

Janice McC 04-24-2017 09:40 AM

Good afternoon, Boomers! Looks like almost everyone has their blocks now. Yay! The pix are wonderful. Thank you. Does my hostess heart good to see them. I can't wait to see the first completed quilt from them!!! Who will finish their blocks first??? And if you post pix here, I'll add them to the gallery with the other completed quilts.

I enjoyed my weekend off and had, for me, a highly productive quilting weekend. I finished a mini-quilt and am almost done quilting some old BOM blocks. I'm going to use sewbizgirl's QAYG tut to finish a quilt. I believe Libster used it for one of her recent finishes. If it works like I expect it will, my own Boom blocks may finally get to become real quilts! And I can add something to the completed gallery.

Have a wonderful week everyone. I'll be around if anyone has any comments or questions. I'll check in periodically but please feel free to post until the next Boom starts in a couple of months.

Hugs to all of you fabulous Boomers. Great job, everyone!

sewbizgirl 04-24-2017 02:28 PM

I'm home and finally have gotten my hands on my blocks! They are so awesome in person! Each bag was like a present to open... so much fun! There are all kinds of special details on them that I missed in the photos. I'm going to make a few more and then make them into two very special donation quilts. They will be beautiful and make the recipients feel very special and loved. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

I have my March boom blocks put together in rows, QAYG method, and only need to join the rows and bind it. It's a smashing quilt that my son in law will love! You'll be seeing that one before the April ones...

Kassaundra 04-24-2017 06:01 PM

I think I am going to put this one together before the last boom. My En Provence is red/black/teal, and so is my last boom so I'm thinking a color change is in order first. But I really need to finish En Provence first.

sewbizgirl 04-24-2017 07:33 PM

I've go an Allietare still hanging around unfinished. In fact, it's hogging the design wall. I need to clone myself. Seriously.

Janice McC 04-25-2017 04:58 AM

If you figure out the cloning thing, let us know. We'll need a tut for that. If it's as good as your QAYG Tut, you'll have a lot of very happy boomers around here. :)
