Until you realize that only 3 of us are" production" quilters...the other 5 ladies are "discussion leaders"! The fabric has all been donated from estates....So,if my fair share is about 30...that's about one a week...til I go down south next winter. These are about 50x60 inches....I'all miss out ...but can likely join again after the dust settles. Cheers!

What a nice idea, but 100 is a tall order for such a small group! It's only fair for the number to be split equally between the 8 of you (12-13 quilts EACH), if they are going to donate your services. Maybe some of those "discussion leaders" need to do less talking and more quilting... LOL!

Will miss you, francie, but will look forward to swapping with you again in future booms.

Thank you and I am very glad you like it. I had fun making it. I was scared about all those points..... I have decided I like finger pressing much more than pressing with the iron when I am sewing the pieces together. The iron comes at the end now and my points are hitting most of the time now. Learning to machine piece is great fun!

Yikes! That is a lot of quilts. Will they all be the same pattern or do you get to do whatever kind you want?

Kassaundra 04-13-2017 03:17 PM

The question about how we choose blocks for fabric types. I look for blocks that are different or inspire me in some way. I especially look for fussy cutting opportunities. I go mostly by instinct or intuition. I have had misses, some I have been able to "save" by reworking it, others I just had to grit my teeth and send it anyway (just not liking how the design worked not the construction or size) and some of those (my grit my teeth and bare it ones) you ladies have liked.

I have a hard time believing that your blocks are anything but perfect! You are such an artist!

terriamn 04-13-2017 06:06 PM

Ibex if it's a large print I look for a block that doesn't have a bunch of small pieces, so I can show case the larger print. If it's a small print I like to make a block with more pieces and try to use several accenting colors.

unfortunaetly Liam continues to struggle and is in PICU again.

Francie that is quite a mission your little group is taking on. Good luck and hopefully you can join us when the dust settles

francie yuhas 04-13-2017 06:29 PM

Re: the 100 quilt challenge....I'll use my scraps and produce what comes our of it. The other ladies are generally handquilters...not pieces.

sewbizgirl 04-14-2017 04:03 AM

So sorry to hear about Liam's problems... extra prayers going up!

terriamn 04-14-2017 06:14 AM

Thanks Sewbiz , little fellow sure has had a rough start.

Completly finished 2 charity quilts and another quilter gave me fabric for 2 more backs in exchange I will quilt hers. Getting lots of practice on the new machine.i

Boomers, I received the last three packages not five minutes ago. Great job getting everything here ahead of schedule. Boomers are the best!

My planned shipping date remains April 20th. If that changes, I'll let you all know.

Thank you, Boomers!

While we wait for our fearless leader to do her magic I thought I would shar 4 of the other projects I finished up since the beginning of the year. I told you it's the year of Baby for me plus I finally finished my youngest daughters boot quilt. She has moved back to the US from Norway where she spent 10 months exploring parts of Europe, doing a ton of hiking and overall having a new experience. She's didn't return to San Diego she's close enough in Colorado where this heavy double batted and minky back will keep her warm. Or smother her in her sleep. it's a toss up on. which

This is probably the closest to an actual Baby quilt I have ever made.

Alphabet Soup with made with Laurel Burch fabrics

This one is for a girl I have known since she was in Kindergarten and a member of my daisy scout troop She's my daughters best friend and I'm excited to give this to her at the baby shower next weekend.

Diamonds are forever

And finally for another Nephew who's baby was born March 30. His wife is an English teacher that now teaches primary school teachers technics in teaching reading. I'm really excited to give this to them when they visit in June.

I'm currently working on a crayon quilt for the last baby quilt of they year.

You all have a great weekend and enjoy your Easter Sunday.

Muse&Sew 04-15-2017 02:48 PM

Happy Easter everyone a bit early!:):):)

Billi I love your boot quilt! You have a lot of fun western fabrics! Looks like you're on top of it this year since you've finished a quilt a month. You're an inspiration. I'm thinking I need to take some time off & finish some of my booms, swaps or other UFO's.

sewbizgirl 04-15-2017 03:24 PM

Billi, I love your quilts! All are great. I do love your alternate blocks (the squares) in the Seuss quilt. I love Dr. Seuss, just not the Lorax... I am a fan of his early work. I wish they'd put out a line on Horton Hatches the Egg. That's my favorite Seuss book ever. I can hear my mother's voice reading it to me. It's a GREAT book about good character vs. flawed character.

Today my local charity quilter's group met and we swapped back our Friendship blocks. Basically it was identical to the Boom swaps we do here, minus the postage cost. And I played the 'Janice' role! The blocks are so nice, and we had a great time going around the room 'showing and telling' each of our blocks and who made them. I'm sure they will want to do this again.

I'll try to get an album up in my profile with pictures of the blocks I got back. I'm so happy with them all!

sewbizgirl 04-15-2017 03:25 PM

And yes, Happy Easter to all!

ibex94 04-15-2017 04:30 PM

Billi -- those are great!!! You've been very quilty busy! a boot quilt and seuss quilt are on my bucket list. But first my Boom quilts must be made. I love that border on the boot quilt!

Bonnie -- can't wait to see what your local gang did with their block exchange.

Happy Easter everyone!

sewbizgirl 04-15-2017 06:22 PM

I put the blocks in my album called "LPJ Swap", if you want to take a look. Some of the colors came out really weird in those photos... don't think I had great light.

They are here, in the top 2+ rows:

Happy and Blessed Easter to all

Terri ~ Hugs and Prayers for Liam and his parents

Billi, love all the quilts, especially the boot quilt

great blocks sewbiz

Libster 04-16-2017 01:56 AM

Happy Easter morning, Everyone!
Love all your quilts, Billi, but the boot one really stands out for me.
Terri, continued prayers for Liam.
Sewbiz, nice looking bunch of blocks you have there. Have fun playing with them.
I'm facing more surgery, but I hope to be able to see everybody again by our next Boom.

terriamn 04-16-2017 04:59 AM

Happy Easter everyone.

Busy day here, went with dh to his church for sunrise service. Church is beautiful and the service was a real showcase. In a few hours will attend my little church's service with my son in law and Grand's.

Planned on a small dinner with 5 confirmed guests. Yesterday afternoon my oldest GD arrived in town with her boy friend and said they are going to try and make dinner, after that her brother emailed and said he was also planning on coming. Thinking if my dd's 2 kids are coming she might change her plans and show up also. Good thing we always make lots of food and roll with the tide.

Made a pretty little Easter runner yesterday, thinking now it should have been longer

Happy Easter! Special prayers to little Liam. Busy weekend with moving plants outside, having 4 grandkids "helping". Logan got his tomatoes planted and Hailee planted Glads. Takes 4 gallons just to water them all! This is just half of them....My yucca and prickly pair and hostas, lilly of the valley and bleeding heart are around the house. I think Im done for this spring! Have a blessed day!!

sewbizgirl 04-16-2017 05:46 AM

Libster, sorry you have to have more surgery. Take care of yourself. Praying all goes well.

Joan, nice bunch of succulents! I like your 'spinners' too. Those things always fascinate me.

Terri, enjoy that full table!

Happy Easter, Marietta...

terriamn 04-16-2017 08:32 AM

Libster sorry to hear you have to have more surgery

Sewbiz you taught your ladies well, very nice looking blocks

Only in the 60's here so no moving plants outdoor yet but I did want my planter next to front steps to be filled with pansies. Never made it to the store. None of the tulips came up this year, sure our friendly chipmunks and squirrels dined on them

Joanliz I have the very same whirley, also love them

Here they are two neck ties I am working on for Gary. Both sides of the fabric looked great and couldn't make up my mind which side to use, so I got enough fabric to use both sides. The hand sewing isn't finished yet.

sewbizgirl 04-16-2017 02:04 PM

Kass, those are really cool-looking! Are they silk?

Kassaundra 04-16-2017 02:32 PM

Thanks, no these ones are not, I make ties out of all kinds of fabric (even some upholstery fabrics) This fabric had "unknown fiber content" on the bolt, it has a nice hand, and good luster w/o being "shiny" took the wool setting of the iron w/o shrinking.

I took a risk on it b/c it was very affordable, and I LOVED the print and color.

Kass your ties are beautiful. What an awesome thing to do I would love to see some of your non traditional ones too.

Instead of doing what needed to be done finished pressing, cutting and bagging fabric for next boom. Naughty, naughty, naughty.

Janice McC 04-17-2017 11:45 AM

Some of us are really into this swap, Janice! :D I've got my next fabric purchased, but not all prepped like Terri. She's really got a jump on it.

Sometimes it's fun being naughty!

Janice McC 04-17-2017 12:39 PM

Incorrigible!!! But I say it lovingly. :)

Also, shhhh...don't tell anyone but my schedule has opened up and I'm finishing up the last three packages now. Shhh. They will go out a bit early I'm just not sure whether it'll be Wednesday or tomorrow. Shhh.

terriamn 04-17-2017 01:42 PM

Yeah Janice but I won't tell anyone. Only have one set of the two ready to go. Other set of fabrics still have to be bagged, also sewed blocks from a lotto together and sandwiched it and sandwiched a second one. Tomorrow will quilt them. Yes I'm on a roll but lake season starts next week and everything will come to an end

ibex94 04-17-2017 02:56 PM

great blocks Sewbiz! 12.5" finished?

Kass -- love the ties

Janice yay! Can't wait to see the blocks.

I am greatly envious that folks are already prepped for the next set of BOOMs. I have successfully tracked and purchased one of the fabrics I was drooling over. Just what I needed... more project, lol.

jaba 04-17-2017 04:51 PM

More project's???? me too ibex94..sort of like a hole in my head. I made myself a promise to finish these boom quilts and get them done before I started anything new. Finished quilting the 3rd one today, just need to do the binding and then Janice will send me the last set of squares that all of you have made. But good thing the last 3 boom groups ....2 done and the third just the binding left. HeeHee, when does the next one start???
