August 2018 Secret Pal Swap-Signups until midnight July 31 - Come join the fun!

This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can
choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner
every month, and the person you send to will be different than the person you
receive from. Failure to send you package after signing up will be cause to be banned from all future swaps. Please do not sign up if you cannot fulfill your obligation. Have fun and be creative!

After receiving your Secret Pal’s details, go to work and put together a package with something you think your pal would like. There is a $15.00 limit on this swap that does not include what you have in your stash. (This does not include shipping) Most swappers do not mind like-new stash items. You will need to send me (HAV4Boys) a PM when mailing and receiving. This way I can keep my records straight. Also send a PM to your SP thanking them and leave feedback.

Please take pictures and post in group as everyone likes to see what you get.

Packages need to be mailed out by August 16th, this is a Firm deadline. All International mailings must be mailed by August 10th FIRM. If you know that you cannot mail by that date, Please Do Not Sign Up.

For international mailing it is very important that you mark your parcel as a 'Gift' on the Customs Declaration (there's a box you can check). Also, the value should be $10 only (even if you send diamond necklace). The person receiving the package is liable for Import Duty, Tax and a Handling fee. This can cost the person receiving as much as $40.

Padded envelopes are much cheaper to send compared to small boxes. These can be ordered free of charge from the USPS website.

You must have a phone # or email to sign up

Please fill out the questionnaire below and Private Message me your info by midnight June 31 to join the swap.

Come on Christine.... you want to join us. It is so much fun!

Armylady2012 07-24-2018 12:16 PM

Red you know you want to come play with us again.

redstilettos 07-25-2018 03:42 AM

okay! I'm in!

I started going through some of my sewing drawers and have so many things gifted to me that I like, but just am not using. They'll make great fillers once I buy my pal's gift.

So some of us have participated in the past. For those that have, what's one of the things you receive that you automatically go "nope, not going to use that!" For me it was a bookmark. As cute as it was, I just don't read paper books any longer. I have an e-reader. Was very cute, though.

redstilettos 07-25-2018 03:59 AM

Okay, I just sent my PM off to hav4boys. Let me know if you didn't receive it.

But after I hit "send", I realized I forgot something:

If my "pal" happens to live in California and won the Kazillion Dollar Lottery last night, please PM me. My list will then change ;)

LOL

hav4boys 07-25-2018 07:55 AM

Lol... in California but did not buy a ticket so not hope there. Glad you are in!

hav4boys 07-25-2018 07:57 AM

On your question about getting a item, and saying, "Cute, but not going to use that." For me it is a stiletto. They are adorable and cute but I use an old (1900s?) wodden knitting needle. It is perfect.

Annaquilts 07-25-2018 11:12 AM

I marked no on socks/slipper and such because my feet are really big. LOL

hav4boys 07-25-2018 02:07 PM

I have big feet too.

a cute little rooster kit. It requires a tool I don’t have and don’t know where to get.

Ive wondered if anyone has ever gotten something back that they sent off in a sp package? With every package I’ve gotten, there has been a note encouraging me to feel free to regift anything I won’t use. I wonder if anything has been regifted enough to eventually make it back to its original gifter.

my sock drawer runneth over. I’m a Birkenstock wearer (yep with socks!). So have TONS of socks for wearing my birks with.

LAQUITA 07-25-2018 05:23 PM

Just sent my info in.

redstilettos 07-26-2018 03:34 AM

Anna, I have huge feet, too, so I feel ya, girl! No worries. As long as they still make shoes my size I'm okay ;) LOL

Pamela, good question! I have always stated if you don't like something to please regift. I personally haven't received anything back that I've regifted, but I always worry that someone will receive an original item back. But then I started thinking....it's kind of like a "white elephant" gift exchange then, and hopefully they'll see the humor in it rather than being irritated! :D

Now that I'm thinking about it, it would be kind of fun to be requested to make sure you regift one thing. It could be something you like, or something you won't use, but it would be fun to see the same item go from place to place and see where it landed after 3 regifts. But then, I'm kinda into dorky stuff like that!!

hav4boys 07-27-2018 02:36 PM

4 days to go and then you will have your secret pal!

redstilettos 07-28-2018 04:01 PM

I'm hoping whomever I get this time around is a chatty Cathy on the boards. It makes it so much fun to stalk them and come up with cool ideas for their package!

Darcyshannon 07-29-2018 09:13 AM

Today is my birthday. Picked up my mom while in Seattle area yesterday so she can celebrate and see my new home. It will be about 1oo degrees today. We are so thankful for a/c. She brought her 15 year old dog. I was sitting in the back yard and saw a potted plant needed to be moved and while doing so I stepped on a bee. Thankfully it is the side of my foot but owww!

Had my first garden tomato last night with dinner. So good and more are here!

Armylady2012 07-29-2018 11:09 AM

Happy Birthday Darcyshannon hope that your enjoying yourself with your mother. I love fresh out of the garden tomatoes yum yum. Hope your bee sting is feeling better today.

Have to say the smoke here in CA is doing me in. Chest is tight and a headache from hell. We need a strong rain to clean the air and help put out these fires.

How is everyone? Hoping to have names out early Wednesday morning.

redstilettos 07-30-2018 08:56 AM

Darcy, happy Cake Day! :)

Anna, if I get you, I bet I'll have a ton of things to stalk you on!

Hav4: I had no idea you were that close to the fires??
