August 2020 to October 2020 Table Runner Swap

Welcome to our ongoing Table Runner Swap! This swap will run from 1st August 2020 to the 31st October 2020.

You have until the 31st October 2020 to make a table runner - the theme this time is………..... Makers Choice. So swappers… this time it is whatever you would like to make!

The table runner should be a minimum of 12” x 30”.
You can use any technique/any style.
All fabrics used should be 100% cotton.
The runner must have wadding and be quilted.

Sign Up list

There is no deadline so you can sign up at any time during the 3 months as this will be just an intention to participate. When you have made and are ready to mail your runner you can then sign up to the “ready to mail” list which is binding commitment.

But please remember that the only lists that counts are the Ready to Mail lists posted at the end of October 2020.

Ready to Mail list

The first Ready to Mail lists will be posted around 26th October 2020 if you are not on this list and think you should be, please contact me asap and let me know because if you are not on the list you will not get an address to send to. The final list will be posted on the 31st October 2020.

Midnight on the 31st October 2020 – is the deadline to get on the “Ready to Mail” list. If you want to take part, I will need the following:-

Real name
Your address
Whether you are willing to send international or not (Please consider this as it enables everybody to take part)
Allergy info
Pet and smoking information
Email address

As long as you have a table runner ready to mail you can join the ready to mail list by letting me know any time before the deadline.

Addresses Sent Out:

I will send out the name and address of the person you should send to on the 1st or 2nd November 2020. You will have 7 days to get your table runner in the mail - No Longer. If you are unable to keep this commitment - please do not sign up.

This is not a partner swap. You will send your table runner to the quilter who's address you get. You will receive from a different quilter than the one you send to.

Please remember that there are quilters of all abilities on this board and you should appreciate the table runner you receive as your sender will have worked hard to make it for you.

You are welcome to send some goodies in your package if you would care to, but please don't expect anything other than the table runner.

Please Note.... You must let me know when you mail and when you receive. Also, please PM the person that sends to you when you receive to say thank you and to let them know that the table runner that they have sent you has arrived - it is only polite to do so!

So come and join our fun.

Hugs

Caroline

Hi Sue,

It started in August (just) and names will go out at the end of October. We were a little late with the last one so they overlapped a little.

Oh boy! I better get the lead out! Can’t make up my mind! Our Covid cases have taken big jump in last 2 weeks so I’m worried we may go back into some degree of lockdown again! Luckily I have lots of fabric in my stash to choose from! Lol hope everyone is well!

I just received my night theme runner from Caroline. Isnt it beautiful. I'm re-doing a runner I made for myself years ago. It was a challenge my friend sent me, a new way to applique. So far its turning out so much better than the original! Here's a pic of the Runner Caroline sent me

R-sea 09-22-2020 04:33 AM

Your runner Marion is different . It has me intrigued as to how Caroline made it. The photo came out dark so I was wondering if it is a piece of fabric or has Caroline sewed all those stars on ? Lucky you

Hi Rosalyn,

No it is not a piece of fabric. The background fabric is quilted with stars, then I cut out three sizes of stars from glittery tee-shirt vinyl. I then downloaded pictures of the constellations and placed the stars in the correct order, ironed them on, then using silver thread quilted again to make the links to each of the stars as they are shown in pictures (not the sky - LOL LOL).I have attached a different photo so you can hopefully see how it was done.

I have to admit... that I knew I would be sending to Marion so I made this especially for her as I know she loves her travels and Glamping in her mobile home...so I thought she would appreciate the stars at night!

Caroline that is just beautiful. So simple and pretty.

m-fay 09-22-2020 02:39 PM

Your photo is s j o much better than mine,Caroline last night, with the lights on, the stars were glittery and twinkling. Just magic! Thank you so much again. And I should have guessed it was coming from you with the hints. That extra name though me off.

Blueridgebeverly 09-29-2020 05:42 PM

Marion, it will be so much fun figuring out the constellations in Caroline’s table runner. It is really unique. And beautifully made!

I am hoping I can get my act together and participate this round. My DD accepted a job in Ohio and I’ve spent the last three weeks in Arizona helping her pack up and drive across the country to her new home. Movers deliver everything tomorrow and then it’s unpacking and organizing. I am exhausted but very happy to have her closer to home.

I also need to finish a quilt for my dad’s October 28 birthday and a belated birthday quilt for a friend. Dad served in WWII and I’ve started a quilt of valor quilt for him. He will be 97.

Maker’s choice would be fun!

m-fay 09-30-2020 07:56 PM

Beverly I have an atlas with the Northern sky and the southern sky with the proper names of the constellations and I cant find them and I think I might have to go to Caroline for help.

m-fay 09-30-2020 08:05 PM

Thankyou Caroline for explaining how you made Marions runner . So much work and thought went into it . Marion will have to bring it when we go camping next then we can sit and look up and see if we can spot any

Marion ,that is so cute. I love farm themed runners.

Northern Sue 10-06-2020 11:29 AM

Love your runner Marion! I have made a runner but had grief with the quilting. My machine & I have had to have a serious talk! So I think I'm going to make a different one for the swap but I have so many different ones I want to try, I haven't decided on one yet! The ongoing dilemma isn't it? lol I will get it done though and be ready for mailing! I promise!

lawsonmugs 10-06-2020 03:21 PM

Well mine is done except for about 12 inches of hand sewing the rest of the binding. When that's done I will post a sneak peek and also pm Caroline

R-sea 10-06-2020 03:54 PM

Lovely runner Marion

Got my swap partner. Will mail Wednesday. Voting here tomorrow. Hope all Americans go out and vote if you haven't already. Please everyone be careful. Hugs Mary

Blueridgebeverly 11-04-2020 04:51 PM

I voted absentee this year, Mary. My husband and son voted early at the board of elections. My daughter voted on Election Day. We live in a small village. She said there was one person in line ahead of her. She was there 5 minutes. It is sad some voters had to wait in long lines so long for the right to vote.

i have my swap mate and will mail it tomorrow. I went with a cat theme this time. Look forward to seeing all the beautiful table runners!

lawsonmugs 11-05-2020 08:31 AM

Beverley , I also live in a very small town. When I went to vote there were only about 4 people voting and so there was no line. Glad to hear you voted. I didn't get to mail my runner yesterday. Gonna do that today.

Blueridgebeverly 11-05-2020 12:41 PM

Cats in the mail on its way to ........... wait ..... it’s a secret.

lawsonmugs 11-05-2020 02:48 PM

I forgot my runner and didn't have time to go back home to get. So tomorrow it is. I sure hope so anyway. lol Today was such a gorgeous day. sunny not to windy and 76* and I had to haul a trailer with our lawn mower on it to town. 15 miles away. Got there and the kid (maybe 20 yrs old) said let me check one thing before we unload it. He took out some dried leaves in the front and then it would shift into reverse. Crap a day shot and for next to nothing. BUT, it could have been something expensive. so in the long run we were happy. Felt really dumb though.

ekuw 11-06-2020 12:54 PM

Hi All!

My runner went out in todays mail. Wasn't sure I was going to participate this time until the last minute so that's why I have been quiet. Looking forward to receiving an amazing runner as always :-)

Blueridgebeverly 11-06-2020 04:07 PM

Ekuw, I was last minute this time too. I got it done literally at the last minute.

Mary, we’ve had really pretty weather also. Today I decided to try to harvest green bean seeds to plant next year. I typically plant pole beans but haven’t tried harvesting beans for the next season. They are heirloom Cade’s Cove and Blue Ribbon. I grew up eating Blue Ribbon and so look forward to eating them each summer. My Mom and cousin canned them every year so we had them all year long.

My table runner arrived today. Im so glad Mary (lawsonmugs) was my quilt friend this swap. She made a beautiful table runner with a fall theme. It will look great on our table as we celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday. She also made a cute tissue holder I can carry in my purse. Thank you, Mary! This is the second table runner I’ve received from you. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/heart.gif
