August Mini Quilt Swap

“Monochromatic”

Sign-ups close July 31st


For this swap we will be making miniature quilts. The suggested size is 6-18 inches or anywhere in between, finished.
Square, round, rectangle, hexi, it’s up to you.


The theme is “Monochromatic”
(maybe even in your partners favorite color?)
The little quilt must have a top, batting and backing and must be bound. You can use any method you wish to fashion the top, piecing, appliqué, whole cloth, thread painting etc.

Please PM tlambing by Friday July 31st to sign up. I will then match up names and get them out to you ASAP. You will have until August 31st to mail your tiny quilt to your partner. This is a FIRM DEADLINE!
Please don’t sign up unless you can commit fully to this deadline.

Please continue to post on the thread throughout the swap. Let everyone know of your progress, post sneak peeks and encourage other swappers It’s so much fun seeing everyones progress and sharing in our quilting friendship.


Any swapper that fails to follow through and does not contact me and their partner will be banned from any of my future swaps and will receive bad (swap)feedback. I know that sometimes things happen that are out of our control, I certainly would take this into consideration, but you MUST COMMUNICATE.


Swappers should treat each other as friends and focus on the fun. So…please be prepared to be flexible, patient and understanding if necessary and appropriate.

What? I am the first to post here? Wow, what is happening, oh yeah, summer. Hmmm, thinking. Wondering if can do this.

Thinking of a pattern, maybe a dresdan plate would be good. This could use up lots of scraps. Hmmm, thinking even harder.

Don't let the big word scare ya! Monochromatic only means all one color (different shades of it) I know you can come up something splendid with all of those scraps sitting in that stash :)

How did you know I had so many scraps. LOL Yeah, I do have a few to say the least. Someday they may get used up. Not sure when, but someday. :shock:

Sorry for being MIA. But, I've been working on 3 lap quilts that I need to have finished in a couple weeks. I have 2 done and one yet to sandwich and quilt. I am leaving for Ohio on the 31st and won't be back home until Sept. 14th. I will be taking them with me. I originally planned a road trip but decided to fly instead. I hope to join back in the swaps in October. I will check in and see everyone's beautiful work. :)

here is my planned color scheme for the mini I am making. Is it MC appropriate enough?

If my surprise partner decides on another color scheme I will gladly change it up to a more suitable choice for that person. I want happiness to be my focus.

Still thinking on what pattern to make

As always, once I start something... OCD, ADHA or just plane enjoy the doing. I have started three different colorways of the same pattern. Deciding which one to send will come later.:D

One question is bugging me though. Is it okay to have accents of other colors other than the main mono chromatic theme? Here is an example:

The star fabric is the background. Is this acceptable to the theme?

another, this would be the border. The main part of the mini is green. Is the black okay?

is everyone being strict with the theme or is there a little wiggle room?

There is always wiggle room. But, it's great to broadly stick to the theme. I think your samples are great!

That froggy fabric is cute.

I don't usually work with theme fabric but this frog fabric is so special. It reminds me of the frogs in my ponds and makes me happy.

I just received my mono chrome mini from dotcomdtcm. Dotty, you are awesome! I will post a few pictures later in the day. I was gifted an amazing package of surprises. Thank you so, so much Dotty! Thank. you, thank you, thank you.:D

I was given that book and it seemed perfect for you. Enjoy!!

So here is my surprise package. A wonderful shades of blue mini, a PPing book of birds which yes, is right up my alley, a pot holder but I will use it as a mug rug. Then out of the bag came a hand embroidered dish towel ready for the dog days of summer. The Quaker Oats bar, a last bit of sweetness.

Your creation looks lovely! Love the pinky floral fabric :)

That is really pretty.
But you know you can play with the theme. If you make an all green and sew on butterfly buttons, who will complain!
