ctyankee 08-10-2015 03:24 AM

Nan62 -- great swap package from jaba! I remember that hot air balloon fabric, but I don't think I have any left. And great photo of you & the grandchildren!

jaba 08-10-2015 05:07 AM

Glad you got it Nan62. Nice pic too, bet you're going to miss those little ones. You'll have to plan a vacation.

lawsonmugs 08-10-2015 07:04 AM

Lois, looks like your all having a great time. I love the balloon fabric. The thread catcher is so pretty. Also the pins are really nice. Wonderful swap Jaba sent

Cheesehead 08-10-2015 08:36 AM

Just love the hot air balloon fabric on the pincushion/needlecase that you received Lois. Great job Jaba!

nhnative 08-10-2015 09:53 AM

Jaba what a neat pc/thread catcher you made for Nan62. I love the hot air balloon fabric. And such a nice pic of you and your grandkids.

Mary it's still hot here today and hopefully I'll get some rain today or tomorrow at least. My flower beds look awful and everyone's grass is getting burned, even the golf course. I haven't seen any baby deer but did see a mother raccoon and her 5 babies crossing the street. I have 3 big ones that live in the sewer under my property and I don't think they are cute at all. Now they have friends as I've seen 1 oppossum and 2 big skunks. One of the farms has turkeys and they are a medium brown with white tails. I wonder if they will be Thanksgiving dinner as it seems early to be raising them for that.
Everyone have a great day

lawsonmugs 08-10-2015 10:29 AM

Pat wish I could send this rain your way after it passes here. Only thing is it's so humid after.Yesterday was 94* rained last night and this morning. Now it is 90* and sooo humid. My poor husband has to mow everyday to keep things mowed and trimmed. But it is so pretty all green. My partner and also a special surprise should be out for delivery today.Seems one went to a post office box, or maybe they just have a box where they live with a box number. Anyway please check if you have one.

lynnie 08-10-2015 01:46 PM

Nan, what a beautiful family photo. you also got some nice gifts from jaba. love the bright colors too.

lawsonmugs 08-10-2015 02:45 PM

Lynnie sorry,I forgot to answer you. Dah,just been one of those weeks. We sold a lot of our stock over the last 2 years. We only kept 2 for Don to kinda have something to do. He will be 78 next month. Having some health problems now that are causing a lot of forgetfulness. It's dangerous on a farm to be that way. I've always had chickens for the eggs and I love the peacefulness of watching them run around. Cyotes got all but a couple about a yr. ago. Now the price of eggs is ridiculous. Wish I had chickens again. Hope everyone is well. Hugs Mary

Too stinkin' pretty! And my m&m's didn't melt!!! Thank you Linda. And last month you were my mug rug partner. Lucky me!

lawsonmugs 08-10-2015 03:54 PM

Linda, just simply beautiful. Did you make the flower on the p.c. too? It's very pretty. Look at all the gorgeous pins too. Really nice swap.

ljdugas31 08-10-2015 04:18 PM

Yes I made the flower on the pin c. Thanks I love making them. This is a fun swap!

lynnie 08-10-2015 04:21 PM

beautiful needle case. I too was a lucky recipient of a needle case. it's just so pretty. Love the pincushion too.

Mary, Larry said yesterday the bagel place stopped making egg sandwiches. I wonder what McDonalds will do.
what's up with the chickens, the flu?????

TOOMANYUFO'S 08-10-2015 04:26 PM

Thanks for all of the Birthday wishes. I guess I will be going for more tests and more Dr. Visits. The p/c and needle cases are beautiful. I started a N/C for Rosemary. I haven't been sewing. Gonna try it. I want to do the Farmer's Wife 1930s. They are doing it here on the board. I would like to do hand piecing, but I not sure what I am doing. I bought the book so far that is what I have done. I just can't keep on a schedule and worry about keeping up.
Mary i'll take a picture of my puppy. One of these days, after I get Rosemary's pkg finished I will sign up, that is if I have the theme ahead of time and can make something in advance. Anyways I'll stop by and say Hi, now and again.

ctyankee 08-10-2015 05:06 PM

Nan62 -- ljdugas does lovely handwork. I was also a lucky recipient of her beautiful work in this swap. You have been thrice blessed!

nhnative 08-11-2015 04:45 AM

It finally rained last night or I should say poured. Now it is very humid today and I think I should be getting more showers. Going to be 73 tomorrow for a high so I can get shopping done before it heats up again. One of the leasing farms in the National Park must have seen egg prices skyrocket so they have about 100 chickens. They used to fence them near the road I went by but now they are way in the back. They also had 3 pigs and I haven't seen them in a long time so I guess someone is getting bacon. I used to see coyotes and I haven't seen any lately and I even go by the Brecksville Reservation that is a habitat for them and if you are walking there you see signs telling you what to do if you see them.

Another beautiful swap from Linda. Just love the Shabby Chic.

Everyone have a great day.

lawsonmugs 08-11-2015 06:32 AM

Pat glad you finally got rain. Lynnie, a bunch of chickens got sick at a egg farm and so they ended up killing over a million chickens so as to not spread the disease. It was sad.

lynnie 08-11-2015 12:26 PM

Mary, so how long b4 the new chickens hatching will be making eggs and everything goes back to normal.
(I hope you don't mind 'splaining to this suburban chick how it all happens)

lawsonmugs 08-11-2015 01:44 PM

Usually they start laying about 6 months old. Some of the chickens put down were not of laying age yet, some older ones. Just whatever the farms had and were exposed to the virus. . Some farms just raise chickens for eggs. and have hundreds or even thousands of chickens. My ex-son-in-law used to haul feed to a chicken farm here in Missouri. They would raise chickens from newly hatched to laying age then ship them out. They had thousands of chickens. They hired several Native Americans to come in and catch the chickens to load into the trucks. It was funny watching them. They would slip on eggs on the ground and sometimes throw the eggs at each other. That was about 10 yrs ago. Hope all this doesn't bore everyone else. So hopefully egg prices will go down at least some in a couple months. OK Class Dismissed.LOL

It's nice to hear about what's happening in other parts of the country. I personally like to hear about other people's lives. As a former journalist, I know that everyone has a story. And I'm a good listener!

I received this amazing little surprise from lawsonmugs last night. So fun, I just love this little camper and needlecase. We have some unexpected company and their camper is parked in front of the house now and they think they should have it! Not a chance.....need the pattern for the knob pot holder too, it's almost like a little hat. Thank you Mary for such a nice package, I love it!!!

klaws 08-12-2015 06:38 AM

I posted the July collage picture on the July thread if anyone is interested in seeing it.

TOOMANYUFO'S 08-12-2015 08:22 AM

Mary the camper is adorable! What did you make the wheels with and how did you attach them? What is a knob
pot holder?

lawsonmugs 08-12-2015 10:25 AM

This is a closer picture of the pot holder. It works like a shower cap with a brim. You slide it over a round knob type handle. Like on a crockpot. They are handy . I keep mine on my crockpot so I can find it. Use it on any knob type handle. it also is reversible. Simple to make .:D:thumbup: The wheels are store bought wooden ones. I glued them to a piece of dowel and it slides through a small sleeve type thing sewn on the underneath. The hitch part is just a piece of wood with a wood bead on the end. I have no pattern for the pincush. So I can't pass it on. Sorry. There are red buttons on the back for tail lights. I put a clothesline with a mini quilt on the other side just for fun.It was fun to make but took quite awhile and a lot of frustration. I'm so glad Jan liked it.;)

nhnative 08-12-2015 12:36 PM

Pamela what a great swap you made for Jan. I just love the butterfly fabric and everything is so nice.

Mary what a cute camper. I had never seen a pot knob before but what a clever idea.

ctyankee 08-12-2015 01:18 PM

jaba -- what an adorable camper from lawsonmugs! Mary, you are beyond talented! To think you made this without a pattern! That took some serious thinking, & it turned out perfectly! I never heard of a pot knob, either, but now I want one! Everything else in your swap package is wonderful -- love the n/c & the lip balm holder, too. Super goodies, too!

Cheesehead 08-12-2015 02:19 PM

WOW...that camper pincushion is awesome! And the potholder is something I definitely want to learn how to make, great job Mary!

Pamela, the butterfly pincushion and needlecase are so pretty, that chocolate bar looks delicious!

Ladybug 1938 08-12-2015 04:01 PM

HI everyone, Still haven't heard anything on the apartment and almost as far as I can go alone on packing, need to wait for the Patty to get a free day so she can help me with the cupboards, the high shelves and the underneath ones that have stuff I won't need. I am going to get into the next swap I have time and maybe will help take my mind off of waiting... My furniture is in my house and I love even more then I did in the store... Don't know how to post a picture up top but can post one here if Karen says it's okay....
