August Pincushion & Needlecase Swap - Theme "Summer"
This is a secret swap. You will not necessarily be sending to the person who will send to you. Please do not contact your secret partner. We will be making one SET (1 pc and 1 nc) for 1 name. All skill levels welcome!
THEME: This month the theme with be "Summer" (Think of the beach, camping, sunshine, picnics or even the colors of summer.) CONSTRUCTION: 1. The cushion/case does not have to be quilted or hand embroidered, although it can be. But it must be handmade - not purchased. 2. Use cotton or wool felt for the pincushions and stuff with appropriate filling. Use cotton or felt for the needle case, and it should have an insert of wool, felt, or Warm and Natural (this is great for needle cases). 3. Embellishments/appliqué/embroidery are welcome but not required. If you plan on using the cushion/case as a daily use item please mention this, as polyester will dull the points of pins and needles. 4. The size and shape of the pincushion/needle case is up to the individual creating it, but should not be smaller than 3” x 3”. SIGNUP: Signup begins today and ends on July 31 at 11:00 pm EST. This is a firm closing time. Names will be assigned by PM beginning no later than the morning of August 2. Please respond to this thread with a post if you are joining the swap. Then highlight and copy the information sheet onto a new PM, fill it in and PM it to me. I will acknowledge receipt of your PM. MAILING DATE: The deadline for mailing is Saturday August 22. Participants in the July swap who did not fulfill their obligation by the time the August signup closes will not be able to participate in this swap. You are required to PM me with your tracking number when you ship. You are required to have a tracking number on your package but priority mail is not required. First class with a tracking number is acceptable. If for some reason you will not be able to fulfill your obligation, please PM me as soon as possible so that I can locate a swap angel. YOU MUST SEND ME A PM WHEN YOU SHIP AND WHEN YOU RECEIVE. Remember to thank your partner, either by a post, or a PM for a personal thank you. It would be nice if you report a feedback score to your SP. Pictures are encouraged, but not required. We all love seeing what everyone is receiving. If you are unable to post a picture, please make sure that you mark that on your information sheet so that your partner can take a picture before shipping it. Please understand that this board has members with different skill levels and you will not necessarily be swapping with someone at the same level. Let's love the creation we are sent. Where is everyone? I can't believe how quiet it is here! We will have a small group this month. Only 12 people signed up including me. There is only a few more hours left to sign up. I will be giving out names sometime tomorrow.

Been busy with the garden Karen, lots of produce to get frozen and canned. Got my name and just about done with her package. She sent lots of info, I love that...and I don't think I've had her as a partner before.

I keep a spread sheet for the last 9 months of who everyone has had as a partner. I try to give everyone a name that they haven't had before. I think it is getting to the point where that might not be easy. But we all have fun anyway. :thumbup:

I got my partner too. Reading up on her info I find we have a lot in common. Have my thinking cap on to decide what to make for her. That's half the fun for me contemplating ideas and auditioning fabrics

Where does the time go? I haven't even started mine yet but I do have an idea. Picking the fabric is the hard part so hopefully I can get it done and mailed next week. Finally got the new computer straightened out, I hope. Last week was so hot here and today it's finally cooling down some. I hate summer and looking forward to the fall.

We finally had 2 days of sun after 21 days of rain. It wasn't a little rain every day but a deluge. Major flooding all around the area. In fact people were in kayaks, canoes and actually a jet ski in the roads. I saw on the news that someone drove into water on the street and the car started floating. There was that much water. Hopefully things will settle down now to our normal rainy summer days. I don't know how many times I've said "I hate Florida!"

Klaws. I got both my PC/-NC sent today in the mail. Yea. After pushing last months deadline , embarrassingly, I got mine done early and sent. Great feeling. I shared one of my favorite received PC which I use practically every day. For my hand sewing . Love it .... One was done with bright flowers , turquoise, greens and pinks. and the other with material depicting summertime things I do. I love this theme as well as the mug rug idea too. Now we're Leakey/and Frio River bound to spend days with my son and family ( who serve as missionaries in Costa Rica and Equador. ) They leave this Sat for 4 yrs. . So we're looking forward to floating , eating, sunning, kayaking, eating , making s'mores, did I mention eating .... lol. Blessings to you all

So far the computer is working good. I have Windows 8 but I can upgrade to Windows 10 if I want to. I'm waiting to see how many people are having problems with it. I had Windows Vista and I loved it.
Karen that's awful about all the flooding. I didn't think it was where you live. I have a cousin that lives in Dunedin and another one in Orlando. I think the first one lives sort of near you and she didn't mention anything. I would like some rain as I think it's been almost 2 weeks since we had any and it doesn't look like any until Monday. Hope you dry out. |
Yes, Pat, Dunedin is very close to me. In fact that have to most fantastic quilt shop there (Rainbows End). They have one huge room with just Christmas fabric. I could spend a whole day there and probably not see everything.

We've had so much rain this year also. Our pasture is so green,usually dry and brown by the middle to end of June. Here it is Aug and green. We got about 1 1/2" of rain since midnight. dryed off about noon. suppose to be like that for the next 2 days also. It's heading east. Hope you get a beak from it Karen. Maybe you'll get some of it Pat. I plan on mailing my swap tomorrow. I also have a little surprise for someone else. Humm wonder who and why huh? Everyone have a good evening.

I still have had no rain. My in the ground flowers look awful and all my hostas are getting burned. I have 2 pots of petunias that actually look good. I haven't even started on my pincushion yet. Now I keep changing my mind. One way or another I am mailing it next week. I've been doing yard sales today with my granddaughter and she got a lot of jewelry. I got a tapestry suitcase on wheels so I'm all set for vacation. NOT. It was $1 and I'm going to put some fabric in it. Then I got a bag of upholstery fabric for $1, and some pieces of cotton fabric.

Pat sounds like you did good at the sales. It's been so hot or raining that I haven't hit but 1 sale this year. Got my P.C. sent yesterday. What is Sept.'s theme Karen? I sound like Lynnie now huh? Miss her on here. It's been too quiet on here. Hope everybody gets the quilt shows, vacations, illnesses etc. out of the way so they can sign up for Sept. swap. Have good day all.

I mailed out my package today during my lunch break. It will arrive at its destination Monday, 8/10. It's going west of me -- but then, nearly everyone is west of me. LOL |
I mailed mine Thursday and it won't be delivered till Monday. Good thing it went priority mail. I also sent one going a little further reg postage and it will be delivered Monday also.

I have my results back from my ultrasounds, they were ok. My brain MRI didn't come back with such a good report. I am being sent to a neurologist next. I am also seeing a sleep Dr. The Dr. still won't let me drive. My daughter's standard poodle past away three days ago, so it has been very sad around here lately. I am gonna try sewing a little this wk end. My puppy is getting so big. He's an awesome dog. I've got to try grooming him today, he doesn't really like it. I'll be watching for all of the swap pkgs coming in.

Oh my gosh, look what arrived in today's mail from Nan62, the most darling pincushion and needlecase!!! It's filled with all kinds of sewing supplies, a tape measure, seam ripper, thread, needles and a conversion chart for yardage on all sizes of quilts! She also included cross stitch bobbins, crystal lite and my favorite candy Coffee Nips! The fabric on the pincushion and needlecase is just darling! Thank you so much Lois for everything, it's all so perfect in every way.
