Oh such fun to see some more folks joining in the chatter here! (I've been away for a few days)
Hopefully we are finding a few block patterns to try out? I know there are lots of you creative ladies (and gents?) out there! :) I'm looking forward to some sewing time next week, and try some myself. |

I have been looking for blocks and I have made up a few. I've added borders to make them 12 1/2".
Oh how nice Rhonda! You do such nice work. I tried out that second block of yours today. Since I am new to pp'ing it was very slow going for me. LOL! Mine had very different coloring. I also tried out an appliqued maple block. We will see if either of those make the cut.
Rhonda all three are beautiful
Ronda~ your blocks are terrific! :)
Wow! Rhonda - I like all three, too!!! I've never done paper piecing . . . of course, I've been told it's easy (yeah, sure, right ?????).
I have my fabric washed and pressed - all except for the cream background (not one inch of that could be found in my sewing nook - imagine that!! :D). Still haven't made it to the fabric store yet - I guess I get side tracked too easy! Tomorrow is another day though!! |
Thanks you guys! I've had yellows, greens, oranges and reds all over my studio for a few days! I even threw in a couple of purples...what fall colors are you all using for your blocks?
I have purples, burnt red, gold and several shades of green dug out right now. Mi love bold and vibrant colors, I love your color combinations
I have the bold and vibrant colors, too, as well as some interesting browns!

I have two sets finished to show and tell. The one small one was playing with the pp'ing one like rwquilts made. I don't think I will continue on with that set. I really had the dickens on a time doing it. Rhonda, you are a talented woman to do that technique! I honestly think I would rather do regular templates than to feel so inadequate. !!
1. maple 2. oak 3. ?? Beach The funny thing is my avatar is pp'ed and I did fine with it. |
Those are some pretty blocks ladies. I am with Red, no pp for me either. I did three blocks for a row by row and messed up one, got it backwards and missed a color. So not my thing. Give me the templates for sure.
Nice job Red! Your pp'd block looks great! I know it's not for everyone...just us weirdies? :)
Oh all the blocks are great!
Rhonda,
I would call it gifted to be able to do that block without saying a bad word. LOL! |
Red - your blocks are wonderful!!!
Awe shucks ... Thank you so much! I have been searching around for another set this morning. I think I might have found a couple. We will see!
Nice blocks, Red! The pp'd one too! ;)

Such nice looking blocks girls! Now that I've completed my other 2 commitments (August Batik swap & August Mini Quilt Swap), I plan on starting my blocks, too. :p However, I'm sure I won't post til sometime next week. So, keep the pretty blocks coming . . . :o

Here's another one. They're really getting to be fun. I made the stem shorter on this one. I like it better. |
Jane, I love the 2nd block! Both are nice...that is a favorite pattern...
Jane, I really like this block/colors, too! Nice!!
Love it too! I'm having a really hard time coming up with different leaf patterns. New blocks for me for sure....think I need to do an SOS help me signal. Got maple leaf done today, how original huh???
Great blocks you are sharing ladies! :) Especially like your 2nd one Jane. One of my favorite leaf patterns.
I have also been testing out block patterns for this swap. I think I have settled on two so far. I also have a couple of duds that I will be using on my quilt. I have two more patterns to try out. The colors of fall I have chosen are really pretty. I will post some pics of my successes in a little while.
I "found" my Japanese maple tool and pattern from elenore burns last night! Yay! I will be testing it out today. Yours is so pretty jane. I also found one at quilters cache that looks pretty nice.
Made my first set, maple leaf of course. Decided to make it scrappy, took me longer but thought they would be more fun
Beautiful leaf, jclinganrey! I love the background fabric! What company is it from?

Oh dear! such nice blocks being shown for our swap. I am so excited to make these into a quilt this year. I am beginning to acquire the materials to finish up many of my swap blocks from other swaps now. I can not believe I am finally getting to them.

Pretty terrain!
Here is my last set. It will get a couple side white strips on the top to make them the 12 1/2 inch size. I have got to get a wiggle on with another project that is pressing on time. |
