maryb119 - - - the background in the 2nd block (w/ the dark brown leaf) has been in my stash for a looooonnnnngggg time so I have no idea who the manufacturer is/was. No selvage info either.

I've been playing with this idea. Do you like the black background or would you choose something else? What other color for the background? Or scrub the idea altogether??

I have to say it looks amazing with a black background, and a whole quilt made like that would be stunning!
However, looking at the other blocks I think the majority are picking lighter backgrounds... J xxx

I like it too but we are suppose to use creams, beige or lights for the background

Fun leaves Jane! The oranges would be nice against a cream or beige for the swap. The black would be great for a maverick block for your quilt-?? :)

Not too sure on the fabric choices - just playing with the new patterns, but will use these in my Fall Leaves quilt from this swap. :D

I've been looking at patterns for a while now, have some have to projects so doubt I will get to join in on the fun, but I had a thought to share for those looking for different patterns. Have you thought about some of the heart patterns. Most have a solid square in the corner w/ the heart indention part that would be easy to modify into a pieced "stem" and it would look like an aspen'ish leaf. I've seen several one w/ log cabin assembly, one w/ a "braid" construction and one w/ a 9 patch of 2 colors and each "rounded heart part" one of those two colors.

No more sewing this week, dh has business meetings in Aurora Ill, pretty much an all day drive with a stop for lunch. He asked me to go with to break up the drive. Really dislike being the car for long trips but what do you do. Today we will drive, tomorrow he will work all day and go to a dinner at least Thursday night we will have dinner together and Friday drive back home. Decided not to haul sewing machine along, instead bring several books and hoping hotel has a shuttle to someplace to mosey around and waste some time
