I can't imagine what it would take to even PUT 70 pounds in those envelopes. Slabs of lead? LOL! ;)

Thanks Themamahauser I just ordered a bunch of envelopes and boxes to be shipped to me since I hate battling the post office. Now I just need to buy a printer that works with my iPad I will be set.

I think shame on the postal clerk for not mentioning it to you, I have one clerk at my post office who will let me know if there is a cheaper option, the others there couldn't care less. I loved going to his window when I mailed off my Doll Quilts to other countries.

That is the padded flat rate envelope rate. 70lbs, 1 price. You can order these envelopes for FREE. https://store.usps.com/store/browse/...atMSS_FlatRate They will deliver them to your house. I generally order 2 packages of 20 each about every 6 months. You would be surprised just how much you can cram in there and not come close to 70 lbs. I am wondering if you purchased a ready-post brand envelope at the store? Those are NOT flat rate, don't look like priority, but are generally stocked right next to the priority/flat rate supplies. You would absolutely pay based on the weight in addition to buying the envelope itself. |
Excellent info TheMamaHauser! Please take note everyone!

Janice- When my package gets to you, please check it out and see what I actually bought at the PO. I'm being educated by everyone - thank you!
