"One question, Jane- I have a piece with a black background/ medium white daisies with green stems and leaves. Will this be acceptable, or should we stick to lighter backgrounds? I also have a piece with a brown background/multi floral. If we're doing lighter background only, I'm still okay, I have plenty. I just want to be sure I do the right thing before I start cutting tomorrow."
Libster wrong thread, you need to post on another swap.
Right now here it is -8 at 10:15 pm. It's been the vegetable beef soup one night, clam chowder another, pork pot pies from scratch and tomorrow hubby wants either chili or ham and beans. Anything hot and warm. Fireplace is going upstairs and the pellet stove is on downstairs. My basement better be warm tomorrow, I gotta' sew, certainly not going anywhere :)

Libster 11-13-2014 05:04 AM

OMG- you're absolutely right! This is what I get for being up so late and not paying attention to which thread I'm on! Thanks, Jaba.

joanelizbay 11-13-2014 07:33 AM

I prewash almost everything so the "rule" wont bother me. We are getting snow flurries here in central Missouri. Its only 19 now...they started out saying less than an inch on Saturday..now its 2-4...means we might get 12 or more! Crazy Missouri weather but I LOVE winter...to snuggle under a quilt you are hand quilting and watch a good movie is so relaxing to me!! Bring on the sign up! :)

ArizonaKAT 11-13-2014 08:54 AM

Still in the 80's here. Everyone is starting to put their flip flops away and wearing long sleeves.

terriamn 11-13-2014 10:18 AM

It's Flippin cold here and the wind is bone chilling. Hope it's not snowing tomorrow so I can go home. Have already stated longer then planned.

Janice McC 11-13-2014 01:31 PM

We're at 43 and dropping. High 20s tonight. Brrr.

Travelinggranma, have you put yours together yet? I was so intrigued with your plan for a wedding quilt I'm really interested in seeing it.

I am planning on going to clubhouse on Sunday where there are large tables to spread out the blocks. Not sure what the background will be yet. Also need to iron and they have a large ironing board to use! Then cut. Will hopefully remember to bring the camera:)

Janice McC 11-13-2014 06:32 PM

FYI, i just got a pm from Buzzy Bee Beatty and she's having trouble posting. That's why she hasn't been around a bit - i know some of us were wondering what happened. Anyway, I'm pretty sure she'll be back on soon! (Bee, try a new browser to see if that works!!! i sent you a pm about it.)

mollymunchkin 11-13-2014 09:18 PM

Janice, if you mail out on 1/2 or there abouts, the finished blocks would be due back to you the first part of March, yes?

Janice McC 11-14-2014 04:22 AM

MM, That's correct for the 2 month group. (I believe I'm also going to run a 3 month group instead of 4 months.)

Billi 11-14-2014 06:22 AM

Bee I hope you get your posting problems figured out I miss your happy little self.
TG yes yes take your camera I really want to see what color you ses and how it came together

I washed and started cutting my f8's and looking forward to both groups I love my fabric for the next Boom

ArizonaKAT 11-14-2014 07:21 AM

I'm kinda glad you can't post right now, Bee. I thought you deserted us and stuck to your guns about finishing your UFOs before doing another Boom.

I actually finished one of my Boom UFOs. For those of you who remember when I sent out all my crazy holiday fabric, I have the Thanksgiving quilt done. It turned out to be a wife quilt and now will reside on my bed until the Christmas season starts.

I gotta get going on quilting the Christmas quilt . . . and the two quilts tops my DD left when she visited last . . . and my yellow and black quilt that's on the wall of shame . . . and the two quilts from Jade and Clover . . .

AHHHHHHHHH, it NEVER ENDS!

If I can get the dog off the quilt, I'll get a pic.

Bee Beatty 11-14-2014 08:58 AM

Ok girls....my son was just here and fixed my posting problems! I'm back:)

Yea, Bee! Now you're back where you belong. We missed you!

ArizonaKAT 11-14-2014 11:28 AM

Did you get any UFOs done while you were gone? If not, I'm one ahead of you. The challenge is on, Bee.

Bee Beatty 11-14-2014 12:13 PM

To all Boomers,

I can't tell you how good it feels to be back! I miss all the goings-on here on QB. Here's what I learned from "going off the grid" - QB friends are the best! Participating in Booms is a serious addiction! When I hear the numbers 12 and 1/2, I immediately gasp for air and begin measuring random blocks :) - Do not follow written instructions for making blocks containing half square triangles...make them an inch bigger! UFO stands for "unfinished for oblivion" and "browsing" is no longer done in shopping malls.

I did learn that Internet Explorer version 10 or 11 is not compatible with QB. Version 9 and prior will work. Google Chrome is what I am using now and seems to be working great!

I am seriously considering a possible 3-month group kicking off in January. Will take some time to read-up on the details.

Bee :)

Bee Beatty 11-14-2014 12:18 PM

AzKat I will take the UFO challenge - one Christmas quilt for another and I agree with Billi, there has to be a "finish photo". Let's throw down the gauntlet!

terriamn 11-14-2014 01:51 PM

Today I had an envelope from the post office returned to me from June 2013!with one of the boom blocks. No you believe that

welcome back bee Betty. My fabric for next swap is in the washer now.

joanelizbay 11-14-2014 04:34 PM

terriamn 11-14-2014 05:06 PM

Joan best of luck to your sister. My Mom is recovering nicely from her her broken hip

Bee Beatty 11-14-2014 07:05 PM

Your Sister

Joan, Its so heart-breaking to see a loved one face the challenges your sister is facing. My mother is 84 and living with me. Her life is difficult and she gets very depressed. It is good that you are able to be close to her. I hug my Mom at least 3 times a day and we make a big deal out of it. She always smiles.....Huggums are the best!

AZKat,

This is a picture of blocks made for me from the Jade 2-month group and RAB2 Boom that will make up the 25 blocks used in the Christmas Sampler Quilt I am working on - to be finished with binding and photo posted on QB Christmas Eve before midnight. This quilt will be 112" X 112" (king).

Thanks to each of you who made the wonderful blocks in this quilt. Currently I am sewing blocks together in row (3) three. My Christmas Quilt and your Christmas Quilt....photo posted here on QB, by midnight December 24th finished with binder. Just in time to start Boom 14(?)

Buzzy Bee Beatty :)

Terri, to bad envelopes cant talk, is that swapper still around if she's like me that quilt still may not be done :-) Does this mean you are finally home from your visit?

Joanlizbay, I'm sorry to hear about your sister I hope she heals quickly, it's nice she can be where you work though.

Bee Beatty, that is so pretty there are some beautiful blocks going into your quilt.

Janice McC 11-15-2014 10:55 AM

Billi, she's DEFINITELY still around (sometimes here, sometimes at the Jacob's ladder thread. Yuk, yuk!) and I can guarantee the quilt isn't done. ROFLOL![QUOTE=Billi;6969373]Terri, to bad envelopes cant talk, is that swapper still around if she's like me that quilt still may not be done :

Billi I had already sent a replacement block but will send this one on it's way, I certainly don't need it. I made it home yesterday, roads were perfect. No problems at all

BeeBetty my mom has also been suffering with depression since she moved into assisted living. she needs more help then my sister or I can give her. It must be so hard giving up all your independence, she has a much better attitude now and that helps

Jade and Clover Blocks

1 Attachment(s)
Here are my blocks from Jade and Clover. This is not the final arrangement. After I took the picture, DH and I rearranged them and the 4 with the most pink will probably be the center 4. I will also probably sash them, just not sure what color yet. Maybe a cream with black cornerstones. I just know they need to be separated to keep from getting lost. Thank you all again for the wonderful blocks.

Billi 11-17-2014 04:04 AM

Molly, TG how pretty I love seing all the blocks together and how they all play together.

Janice McC 11-17-2014 05:46 AM

Beautiful. MM! Cannot wait to see it after you've sashed it. TFS!

Joan, I wish I could help you with your tablet, I can only post photos from my iPad, but can't post photos from my computer. I hope your sister will get better and heal fast so she can go home. I'm 77 and my sewing room is in the basement. I hang onto the railing for dear life when I go down.
BeeBeatty, traveling grandma and molly munchkin, your blocks look so nice together. Thanks for showing them.
Janice, I am thinking about the next boom. I will have to read the rules again and decide if I am able to join the swap again this year. I mean next year! I won't be under so much stress as I was this past year and I can now post photos which really helps give me confidence. The blocks are so much fun to make and I learned so much. I worked with fabrics and colors that I previously would never put together and then was so surprised with how well they turned out.
Decisions decisions.
Have a good day everyone.

Bee,

I WILL take your challenge! I'll have to complete two for every King size you do though. Mine are all wife quilts to be set on top of the bed or used as a throw on the couch.

I'll bring the cord to my phone in to work tomorrow and display my Thanksgiving quilt.

WOW...I love ALL the quilts being laid out. The hardest part for me is deciding on sashing or no sashing and the colors. I wish I had extra of the fabric I sent out so I could make a small sashing with it but I don't even remember where I purchased it! :(.... My tablet would let me post but the web site doesn't from my tablet. It says "go advanced" where I usuaually post but then it doesn't give me an option of posting pictures..not sure why but it wont so I have to email them to myself then post from work until I get a new laptop. Hopefully I can make the Black Friday sales and get one responably for myself. Here are two pictures of the blocks I laid out, no order, just laid them all out. My son fell in LOVE with the star one and the heart one in the center....I told him DONT even think about me doing the paper pieced one! LOL...I pulled out 3 tops I had finished and didn't see a rush to get quilted but when I laid them out I thought, darn those aren't bad so I put backing with them and they are ready to go to the quilters.
I also finished a "monkey" quilt for my grandson and started on a Lion for the other grandson then a bunny for the granddaughter.. I have 2 other swaps NOT finished yet but I swear Im going to get them done in December!! Cant wait to see everyones finished blocks. I think THIS swap is making some beautiful quilts!!

terriamn 11-17-2014 09:04 AM

Ladies to make a full size quilt with a thin sashing how many blocks do you usually use
