My EQ8 (Electric Quilt 8) arrived today. IN reading the quick start guide, I discovered it is allowed on two computers. If you would like the serial number and password to download a copy, send me a PM. Saturday I will draw from a hat all names that are interested. Sharing my blessing.

Janice McC 01-05-2018 07:09 AM

Please remember to email me your tracking info. I'm receiving notifications of incoming packages but don't know who sent them or if they are even for this swap.

Need to hear from NanaKathy55. NK, please check your email and reply. Thank you!

That makes it hard and icy, so they come along with sand to help with traction. Not out in the country, tho. Just in town, on bridges and such. We got 5" last month and it pretty well paralyzed the communities. LOL. I grew up in Massachusetts, tho, and remember the snow plows well. Just about when you got your driveway all shoveled, the plow would come by and dump a mountain across the end of your driveway. There were the city plows, and for extreme times, they would also hire on small contractors-- guys who just happened to own a truck and a plow attachment they could put on it when needed. Good times... (not) :hunf:.

We have beautiful sunny weather again today, and it's starting to creep up towards 40. That means broken water pipes are thawing out and leaking. We have a standing spigot up at the front of the property that was wrapped really well with foam insulation, but hubby says the water in it still froze and blew the top of it off. So now he's out there dealing with plumbing repair. We have no water pressure here at the house. But we are in better shape than a lot of people. Hope all our Boomers are safe and warm.

I cannot believe all the snow we got. My car is buried I live in a complex who does not know how to plow. We have 5 cars in the lot and all of us are buried due to the way they plowed. It was not entirely all their fault there's just no place to put the snow. My husband had heart surgery last yr, and I have had issues this year making shoveling for us a nightmare. We will survive somehow. Going out later to see if we can get out somehow as I am working tomorrow maybe

You probably have thought this, but when I need "special" shoveling, I ask a teenage neighbor to do it. I pay them generously -- it's worth the price to save my back. Teens too young to have a regular job seem to appreciate the opportunity!

QuilterMomma 01-05-2018 08:13 AM

If my nephew was not staying with us right now, I would be hiring the kid down the street as well. We do have a snow blower, but there is always that shoveling on the heavy wet stuff that you can't get otherwise.

Here is my fabric. Looks darker than really is. Having to replace a quilt that nephew's dog ate. Was a Civil War swap from a few years back. Loved the quilt and it blended so nicely in my spare room. In my note, I request that you use red, brown, blue, or greens, but no bright colors. This is to be the muted hues of the Civil War era. If you have that type of fabric, fabulous, if not, just be sure they are not bright colors. Muted grayish values

hav4boys 01-05-2018 08:42 AM

Okay, I have made an error and am sincerely sorry. I sent a note to customer service asking about putting EQ8 on multiple computers. The answer was yes.

After SewBiz's remark, I looked at the website and dug deeper and found this: I only have 1 computer. Can I let my friend use the 2nd activation?

No. EQ8 is licensed to a single user. Sharing your license ID with someone is breaking the license agreement and is the same as stealing. Each user must purchase their own personal license of the software.

I must withdraw my offer since I do not want to steal from the company. I am sincerely sorry.

Don't beat yourself up, hav4boys. You found out what's allowed and you corrected it. That's all you can ask from anyone.
I'm bored this morning so I made myself a block. I think I'm going to love this quilt!
Edited to say: I don't know why my Paint program is not letting me crop horizontally. Aggravating!

terriamn 01-05-2018 09:30 AM

Very pretty block Libster, are you asking for a white on white BO

Asking for COC only.

joanelizbay 01-05-2018 10:11 AM

Is COC cream??? Not sure Ive seen that abbreviation before :) Its a very pretty block. Whats the name of it??

Libster 01-05-2018 10:34 AM

Yep, COC = cream on cream. The block is Crosstrack from Quiltmaker's 1000 Blocks.

Cheesehead 01-05-2018 11:51 AM

Pretty block Libster, I can't wait to get started on this swap! Just got back from post office and mailing by F8's to Janice, so happy they are on their way.

Pretty block, Libster. Your fabric is beautiful. QM, same for yours. I’m going to the LQS for something to go with Jaba’s so I might just add a few more F4s to the purchase. Cannot tell you all how much I’m looking forward to participating this round!

Janice McC 01-05-2018 01:06 PM

Jaba, D.Henson, Libster and Sewbizgirl, each of you likely received an email stating that your package was refused by me. It’s an error. The mail carrier must have hit the wrong button on her scanner. A package from each of you is in my hands. No worries. All is well! (I’ll mention this to her tomorrow if she’s working on Saturday. She’s usually 110 percent on the ball.)

I think all of us are just as happy that you're playing again too! We love you joining in to have fun with us. We missed you not playing last Boom.

givio 01-05-2018 05:06 PM

QM, I like your fabric and suggestions. I bought some CW fabric for the Rest and Refreshing quilt along some of us were working on. I've enjoyed those prints, such a historical feel to them, made me feel like quilting surely has a past. It seems like a lot of block swaps I've done in the the last few years were with younger women who loved modern prints.

It's so cold out today. I've stayed in and made myself two more blocks. Hope these give you an idea of what I'm kinda' going for with this quilt.

Mona G 01-06-2018 12:25 PM

Lobster that will be a beautiful quilt.

sewbizgirl 01-06-2018 12:35 PM

Lobster has done it again! LOL, just kidding. You are always getting called "Lobster" and I'm always getting called "Showbiz". :D Maybe it's auto-correct.

Love your blocks, Libster. Especially the second one. You are showing us how beautiful 2-fabric blocks can be.

Libster 01-06-2018 01:00 PM

Thanks, Sewbiz. LOL I get "Lobster" lots of times. It is from auto-correct.
I like that second block too. It's called "Perfect Petals", but you know I love stars. The center of the star was supposed to be a different color, but I made it my way. It's from Quiltmaker's 1000 Blocks too. I'm really liking this book. It was my Christmas present to me.

terriamn 01-06-2018 02:13 PM

Libster you are going to have a beautiful quilt.

pretty much have the scant 1/4” under control on new machine but have some wrong button pressed somewhere. Machine won’t let me sew with the foot pedal. I have to use the start and stop button, very strange.

Everytime this happens to me, it's because the pedal isn't plugged in to the machine or the plug isn't pushed in far enough.

JayneW 01-06-2018 04:37 PM

Libster, I bought the Quiltmaker's 1000 book right before the last boom and also love it. Most of the blocks I made were from it - I can spend lots and lots of time looking through it.

sewbizgirl 01-06-2018 04:59 PM

I bought and downloaded the Quiltmaker's 100 block issues, #1-10. So I have 1000 blocks too, LOL. Are the ones in the big book the same? I look at mine all the time but most seem too complicated or too many fabrics/colors to be good for boom blocks. I haven't had much success there.

I ordered a good used copy of Judy Martin's Ultimate Book of Quilt Block Patterns, because it seems like all the awesome quilts that Don Isewman makes come from blocks in that book. He's always quoting it as his source. There are some truly gorgeous blocks in there. That was my Christmas present to myself, Libster. :o

Don is working on another really gorgeous quilt from a block in that book. He sent me a sneak peek by email! It's going to be beautiful.

Libster 01-06-2018 05:21 PM

"I bought and downloaded the Quiltmaker's 100 block issues, #1-10. So I have 1000 blocks too, LOL. Are the ones in the big book the same?"

Sewbiz, I have a couple of the 100 block issues too, but I don't know if they're the same as what's in the big book or not. Big help, right?? LOL

sewbizgirl 01-06-2018 05:49 PM

Ok, looked it up and saw it described as a "compilation" from their magazines. Then at the McCall's Patterns site they describe the 1000 blocks book this way:

This value-packed book celebrates the milestone of reaching 1000 quilt blocks in the 100 block series by Quiltmaker magazine.

So it would appear i already have those blocks. Yay!

Janice McC 01-06-2018 06:38 PM

Gorgeous blocks!

Just spent the last 90 minutes thumbing through every page in 1000 Blocks. I have some ideas for a few blocks. :)

Kassaundra 01-06-2018 07:02 PM

I do google image searches for "unusual quilt blocks" or something similar find images I like and figure out how to make them, or use an image idea and tweak it and figure out a way to make what is in my head. That is the fun part for me.

givio 01-06-2018 10:44 PM

There are so many block patterns online, in books, etc.! Sometimes it gets overwhelming if I'm searching for a pattern that is 'just right.' I can end up not deciding which to use, and then never start my project. After this last churn dash quilt top that I made for a friend, I made another top (for my sister) to use up extra setting triangles from the first top, and while cutting those churn dash blocks I cut out a duplicate set of floral blocks for a top for myself. Today I cut out churn dash blocks for a baby quilt. Four churn dash tops! Just now it made me think, "Why do I save so many block patterns, if I'm going to use the same one all the time?"

joanelizbay 01-07-2018 05:45 AM

I have all the 100 block magazines 1-15 except #2. Dont know if I loaned that one to someone or just dont have it. hmmmm. In my Vol 3 of 2011 the cross track is #257. It sure isnt as pretty as the one you made! I wont use a lot of the patterns because so many are pp or applique but Ive used a lot of them already. Was kind of dissapointed in Vol 15 blocks. Ive found when you make a block out of there with different colors than in the book you either love it or not so much like it. Vol 3 was by far my favorite. I have little yellow post it notes sticking out of the blocks Ive made and would make again. :) Yours is going to be very beautiful Terri!

terriamn 01-07-2018 06:27 AM

I have downloaded the 100 block magazines also but like looking at them when not on computer. Didn’t realize you could buy it in a book. Thanks for the info I ordered it and can’t wait to spend way to much time looking at it.

My go to pattern book is Aound the block. It’s fabulous and lists different size patterns for the same block

Janice McC 01-07-2018 07:59 AM

For Boom 20 Boomers only: I have an extra copy of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, issue 14. It’s winter 2016. If anyone wants it, please email me: [email protected]. I can send it along with the F8s. Let me know :)

Thanks Terri... I found both Around the Block and Around the Block Again on Amazon and ordered them! There is also a third volume, plus she has a '501 Rotary Cut Blocks' book too.

terriamn 01-07-2018 03:13 PM

Sewbiz I have all of them but believe it or not I have used the original book so often I am on my second book.

Janice McC 01-07-2018 03:20 PM

The magazine has been claimed.
