I recieved my fabrics, all 19 are there. I will read all the request tonight and start sewing in the morning. I'm so excited to start piecing.

I am loving all the blocks made so far. They are beautiful.

I have some BOOMS from the past that I need to put together. I think I would like to try the QAYG method. I think I understand the concept but I am worried that I will lose the points on the sides of the blocks. Is there any advice you talented ladies can give me. Maybe I haven't found the right tutorial. Thank you in advanced.

I really love this block...thank you so much.

Here is an extra block I made for myself. It was a pain in the butt! The pattern was all messed up. The cutting measurements were off and it didn't really give any instructions other than pictures. There are a few mistakes. But, I finally got it done. I love it but I don't think I will make another one like it.

Here a few pictures I took at the quilt show the other day.

This is beautiful. The comments of the quilter said it took her 10 years to complete. I guess we all have hope with our UFOs.

This quilt blew my mind. I'm attaching a close-up. You will see what I mean.

This one was really different.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures.

Klaws your block may have been a problem child but it looks good finished.

I love the show quilts, the bird is my favorite.

AnnieQuilts 02-15-2019 08:29 AM

Thanks for the beautiful pictures Klaws. The one with the close up is especially intriguing; it's hard to even imagine doing such intricate piecing. Ten years to finish the one with the ships is not surprising. I bought the kit ??? years ago and I'm still hesitant to even start it. There are so many teeny-tiny details in it!

What show was this?

I finished a block this morning for Lstew2212.

Orange and green together aren't colors I normally work with so it was a pleasure using them and your pretty fabric. I hope you are pleased.

edited to add: the green isn't showing well. It's very close in color to the one in your fabric and much prettier than it appears.

Janice McC 02-15-2019 10:02 AM

Klaws, I just love that new block you posted for yourself. It will be one I'll graph and recreate sometime soon. The quilt show pics are gorgeous! So much work put into those quilts! My goodness. Thank you so much for sharing them. :)
Here is an extra block I made for myself. It was a pain in the butt! The pattern was all messed up.

Boom Biz

Gentle and general reminders for everyone:

Block size: Blocks are to be 12 1/2 inches. If your block is significantly off that size, please adjust to make it as close as you can get it. Please measure as you go to catch a problem as soon as you can.
Fabric requests: Please be sure to read and understand the fabric/color requests you've received. All questions should be addressed to the fabric owner directly by PM. You can post your question here but it's easy for the post to disappear quickly down and off the top page and consequently be missed.
Posting pix and Gallery: It is not a requirement to post pix of your blocks. If you wish to and need help, above you will find a "help" tab and one of the items is how to post pix. Also, please shrink your photos to 200kb or smaller before posting here. I use these pix to add to the gallery and if they are large, I must shrink them or the pages will take forever to load. Those that I must edit myself will always be the last ones I post. I post pix as frequently as I can but that does not necessarily mean daily. Once you post a block here, please give me a few days to get it in there. If after 3 or 4 days you don't see it, send me an email with the post number of your pic (not the page #) or a 200 kb or smaller copy and I will add it.
Communication: Please stay in contact with us at least weekly. If you are an infrequent poster, please be sure to go back and read everything since your last visit and acknowledge the blocks made for you. It's not much fun to make blocks and not have them noted by the owner. Several times poor swappers left virtually every block made for them unacknowledged.

Anyone needing any assistance should not hesitate to ask! Maybe it's something I can solve or perhaps another Boomer can. You can post for the group or privately in a PM or email me. It's absolutely no trouble at all!

Thank you to everyone. :) :) :)

I don't usually do "bonus" blocks, mostly b/c I don't have enough of the fabric left to do much with, but Bstone, since I messed up on the size and couldn't use my cute little 4 patch posy squares, and they were so cute I am working on a bonus block for you (I checked to make sure you were only in one group) I have a sneak peak at the new block in the making, I am picturing the new pieces w/ the original block to show a size reference. (I am having fun playing w/ these itty bitties)

Janice McC 02-15-2019 10:54 AM

I recd a pm regarding my color requests for my fabric. I was unclear. If you would use coordinating tones of the colors you find in my F8s, that would be fine. The way I worded the requests may have unduly limited you. You do not need to try to find the exact shade of a color in the f8. If the f8 you have is red, green and white, please use reds and greens that you feel coordinate. Don’t bring in a totally new color like purple if it doesn’t exist in the original f8.

Hope that helps.

terriamn 02-15-2019 02:06 PM

Klaws beautiful block you made for yourself but can truly see where it was a bugger to make.

Thanks for all the great pictures, would be had to pick a favorite.

Janice love your block.

Terri, your purple / orange is next on deck. Here is a sneak peak. This is not the layout, and I am doing something different then I've done before w/ these 4 patches (even though they are triangle based). I can't go any further until I find the orange I want so to be continued..........................

Love your new block, Klaws. And thank you for sharing some of that quilt expo with us! Fabulous quilts. I know pictures never are the same as standing right in front of them (in awe...). I love pics from a quilt show.

Kass, looks like your bonus block for B'stone is going to be great too.

edit: And there it is! That was a fast finish. Love the start of Terri's block too.

Lurking and loving everything I see! Love the show pics, Klaws. I’m two blocks away from finishing my Labyrinth quilt top. Mine is in greys. The one Klaws pictured was purple. Ten years on a quilt, that is stick-to-itiveness beyond what I can comprehend. Keep sewing ladies, i’ll Keep lurking. ❤️

bibliostone 02-15-2019 06:00 PM

Ooh, I'm excited. I'm going to get two Kass blocks. It looks interesting. Thanks. ( I posted this before seeing the finished block--it looks great)

Janice McC 02-15-2019 06:12 PM

GramE, can’t wait to see your Labyrinth quilt. :)

Hi there GramE, nice to see you lurking.

terriamn 02-15-2019 07:28 PM

Kass fabulous block, so much movement. And lover the teaser of my fabric. You sure have a knack at making the 4 Patch’s. To be truthful I never would have looked at that fabric and saw the potential for a posey block

GramE only 2 blocks away, great. Can’t wait to see it

JayneW 02-15-2019 08:00 PM

Hello Laters,

I got my squishy and 19 wonderful bags inside. Such beautiful fabric this go around. Beautiful blocks to start things off. I will begin by digging in my stash and see what fabrics I have to match! I loved reading everyone's notes and fabric requests. Here is to a great boom!

mosher92 02-16-2019 02:39 AM

Where would I find the fat cat pattern?

Janice McC 02-16-2019 04:59 AM

Good morning mosher92. If you mean the chicken blocks, you can find them at fatcatpatterns.com. It’s a 2019 BoM called Hen Party.

Klaws, thanks for posting the show pictures. I am always amazed at the talent of fabric artist. They are so beautiful. For years I have wanted to put one of my finished quilts in the local quilt show at the county fair. Maybe this year will be that year.

Lstew you can buy downloadable issues online for a dollar each. Quiltingandsewshop.com. I haven’t been there for a year or so but I have 10 issues downloaded.

Ladies, I need help. I'm trying to send a private message to one of our fellow boomers with a question about a coordinating fabric. I'm trying to upload a picture of the fabric. When I click on the picture icon, it ask for a URL. My picture is from my files, not a website. The link does not give me the option to upload from my computer. Any help is welcome. This is thru the Private messenger.

terriamn 02-16-2019 08:02 AM

Lstew I have never been able to send a picture through private messenger but I know Kass sent me one. She might be able to help

i never had success doing this either. I sent a private message asking if they could send me their email address and I sent pics that way.

Janice McC 02-16-2019 09:45 AM

I've never been able to send a pm with one of my photos. I think they can only be posted from a URL based on the text box that just popped up when i tried.

FYI, I'm prone to mistakes such as giving credit to the wrong person as I post pix to the gallery. If you spot one, please don't hesitate to let me know by pm or email. It hasn't happened yet, but it will. :)

Kassaundra 02-16-2019 11:05 AM

The only way I have ever got it to send a pic in privet message is to copy / paste the pic.
