Thank you to all of you who joined in to make what is my favorite quilt of all time. I knew something was coming since Libster made sure I’d be home when it arrived (a lady after my own heart) but I had no idea of the scope and beauty of your kindness. I fell asleep quite contentedly last night and awoke with a smile. I think i know who made some of the blocks but each is perfection as is the quilting, including mom’s name. Thank you.

So happy that it brought a "contented" feeling and put a smile on your face. I hope every time you look at it you will know just how important you are to all of us. Wrap yourself up cozy and feel the love :) That's what those comfort quilts are suppose to do right?

Ok to ship early!

Oh, boy, Jaba, it was so much more than a contented feeling. I’d had a pretty rough day but when I opened the quilt, I balled like a kid from surprise. Seriously! Lol. It’s so pretty and just was exactly the right thing at the perfect moment. And you can bet I slept under it. DH is in NYC (on 9/11 no less) and he’s still there today, our 38th anniversary. It couldn’t be avoided so a gift like that took me to a very happy place! Thank you all.

If there is anyone who wants to ship their blocks early, go for it. I’m certain I can pull out the remainder of the swap and besides, I’ve had so many offers of help, I’ve got a big handful of people who have my back. Ship away! If you haven’t prepaid your shipping, please remember to send along $8 for return shipping costs. Thanks!

Happy Anniversary, Janice! Sorry your DH couldn't be there but that just means y'all can plan something really special for a little later on. You know, stretch things out and enjoy them a little longer! I'm so glad our quilt arrived at the right time for you. I'm a firm believer that things happen as they're meant to be.

Happy Anniversary, Janice! I want to apologize that I didn't make a block for your lovely quilt. It's not that I didn't care, because I truly do. I had picked out my fabrics and was all ready to stitch away. But the next day my Baby was born and I totally spaced it for weeks! I felt awful and still do. Just know that, even though I forgot to make a block in time, I would have loved to contribute to your gift. ((Hugs )) It's a beautiful quilt and you deserve it!!

Janice, my blocks for both groups are on their way to you. Email sent with tracking number. Now I can get back to my other set of blocks from Boom 22. Only 4 more blocks to quilt and I'll be ready to start putting them together.
BTW- Axel loves his big boy quilt! He's so excited about getting it. Their house sold in 3 days and their offer has been accepted for their bigger home. It went on the market at 8 am yesterday morning and their offer was accepted yesterday afternoon. Closing date for both houses is in October. Things are working out great for them.

NZQ, there is absolutely nothing to apologize for! I seldom mention online the host gifts I receive or those who send a few extra dollars to carry someone who has come up short on shipping, that kind of thing. It’s never expected and I fear by posting about it, folks may feel obligated. The only obligation is to complete your Boomer blocks as best you can and pay shipping costs. That’s it. I send thank yous by email or I write a note. But this quilt was so amazingly unexpected and it’s arrival timing couldn’t have been better that I had to post a thank you on line. I couldn’t be quiet about this one but nobody should ever feel bad bc they didn’t make a block. Life is all about priorities and those that had time to make blocks did and not for a split second will I ever question why any particular boomer didn’t make a block. Boomers are the best and it has nothing to do with whether a block was contributed to the quilt or not. NZQ, big hugs for you.

I'll get mine put together and in the mail in the next day or so. Will let you know Janice when I send.

I'll get my blocks out once I can get out. We didn't get mail yesterday and won't today either. Can't get tot he PO office.

I was suppose to attend a Floriani class today and tomorrow. Drove around for 45 min and can't find an open road out of the area. The bridge right to the north of us is still holding, but the water is rising there and is starting to come over the road. Once it flows over the road, it might take the bridge out. That one is a larger creek. The one to the south, the water is going down but not enough yet to see if the road is still there. That one is drainage and is only fed from the local area. the nest road to the west, water is down but there is a cut in the road so not passible. Another mile west and the abutments are out. Can't go any farther west as the James River is there. We have no roads going east from our property between the two bridges.

We did cross the north bridge to the paved road- went east and the main bridge over the creek (same one we just crossed) was fine, but a bit farhter there is a culvert under the road and that had a barricade and you could tell the road was sunk there, so it's probably washed the dirt out from under the pavement. Won't be passible until fixed.

We alreayd know that none of the dirt roads north of that will get out so we didn't try any.

That paved road to the west crosses the James River. I checked this AM and the river was 2" below record crest, so that would put that road way under water. At least that one does flood in the spring and normally had no damage once the water recedes. It does not flood where the river flows under the bridge, just the valley up to the bridge.

We are hoping when the water to the south goes down, the road will still be there, then we'll be able to get out. If it is damages, then we'll hope the bridge to the north holds (they rebuilt it a few years ago) and once the James goes down, we can get out that way. Otherwise we won't get out until the roads are fixed.

At least we have plenty of food, water and electricity, and it's warm. Normally we get trapped for several days at a time due to snow fall.

I'll spend the day sewing!
