Yep I’m lousy at taking pictures too. This block is for Ibex. With her permission I added a quote for each of the four presidents I chose:

JFK if not us who? If not now, when!

Teddy Roosevelt: keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.

Bill Clinton: we all do better when we work together. Our differences do matter, but our common humanity matters more.

ike: Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.

hav4boys 05-26-2021 01:57 PM

MJP that is an awesome block. I love it.

sewbizgirl 05-26-2021 02:37 PM

That pp Capitol is awesome, Hav! I am also glad you didn't give up making Boom blocks. You have really found your niche with the paper piecing. You are amazing at those!

Julia, love your block for klaws! Everything is just perfect in that block. I wish I could make 4 points come together in the center that pretty.

Ahwu, the block for B'stone is so delicate and so French! It's lovely.

sewbizgirl 05-26-2021 02:42 PM

More pretty blocks have shown up-- from Hav and MJP.

MJ, for me the JFK quote I remember best is the one on the front of my high school: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can so for your country". How things have changed!

Actually it was a toss up between the two quotes but the one I chose spoke to me more. The Ike quote has always been my favorite Presidential quote. So meaningful from our Republican WWII general.

These are two are for my boom partner stcpaw. I got her fabric before I went to Omaha. I got permission from her to use the polka dot fabric.

I worked on these with my little singer 40 year old machine It uses cams to change the stitches. I left it for my daughter and her kids.

Thank you so much hav4boys for my adorable block.. Everyone is doing so well and I love all the blocks. I hope I can begin tomorrow.

WOWZA!!! This is beautiful and mindful of the positive sides of their leadership! Thank you! I wonder if they truly felt that way or if they had good script writers....

I just finished another block for today and am feeling a bit caught up on things now. This one is for JayneW. I hope this is what you had in mind.

JayneW 05-27-2021 11:34 AM

Wow, everyone's blocks are amazing! I think this is the best start to a boom EVER! I love what everyone is doing with the President's fabric.

I've been crazy busy with the last week of school and getting ready for my trip. I'm just going to have to be the late blooming zinnia in the group!

Speaking of my trip... craziness. The boat we chartered in the keys was damaged and is not available, there are no other boats. The boat broker scrambled and found us a boat in the Virgin Islands! So, instead of Florida we head to St. Thomas on Sunday. Thank goodness the airlines do not have change fees.

JayneW 05-27-2021 11:36 AM

Have4, sorry to hear about your mom. Good for you and your sister for advocating for her. It makes me sad for the people who do not have such help. Hang in there. Sending love.

kristijoy 05-27-2021 11:37 AM

No sewing for me yesterday. Wednesday evening is our family zoom time.

And I'm starting to get our RV ready for our trip to the Redwoods in 3 weeks. Yippy! When we came home spring of 2020 during lockdown we just unloaded the rig. Usually when we come back from a trip we write notes of things we would want on the next trip, take pictures of where we had things stowed, etc... We did none of that. My husband has been digging around looking where he usually keeps things but he can't find anything. Guess we were a bit stressed out!!

I have one of the presidents blocks almost cut out. I'm hoping to work on that this evening!

Kristie love your block for Sewbiz and how your fabric choices accent the basket of cherries

Julia so sorry to hear do is not doing well, hope this is a short term problem

Sewbiz your president’s block is outstanding

H4b the block you made for Biblistone is the same layout I have cut out, will see if I can come up with something different with my pieces. All your starts are just plain beautiful. Sad to hear about your mother will be praying for her.

Beautiful here In Minneapolis, yesterday it was in the 89’s and humid a cool front came through last night and we have the house all opened up. Making another trip to the donation store then to nursery for a hanging plant for the lake, then back to emptying sewing room.

Hope everyone has a good day

I hope to make two lap quilts with this fabric so duplicate blocks are not a problem!

bibliostone 05-27-2021 05:27 PM

Hi all, I am happy to announce that my fabric package finally showed up today! Actually, it showed up at my neighbors, but he brought it over. I want to thank everyone that has made a block. They all look great and I am really pleased with the lovely greens and yellows being used.

So glad it arrived safely! Sounds like the package had quite a journey! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/shock.png

Important

Did everyone count their f8s to make sure you each received 19 f8s except of course for Jayne and Hav4boys who should have received 38? I’ve heard from one person who says she is several short. Did anyone come up with extras??? If you haven’t yet opened your package, please do so ASAP to see if your count is correct.

terriamn 05-28-2021 04:01 AM

Janice I received 19 packages

Jayne love my block thank you so much, all your blocks are so pretty

Kristie our plan b4 Covid hit was to drive to Denver to see our granddaughter, then to Nevada to visit my son. From there we were going to head to California to see the Redwoods. Hope you take lots of pictures and share them. Probably the only way I will get to see them. We heard gas was over $6.00 a gallon there. Hope that isn’t true.

No sewing for me this weekend. Granddaughter was going to join us at the lake then changed her mind at the last minute but not enough time for me to organize everything.

Biblistone so glad your package finally made it to you

Janice McC 05-28-2021 04:53 AM

Important!

So I checked my emails and posts here, only about half of you said you've received your f8s and that the count was correct. Marcialee is the one missing the f8s and she is certain none went missing since she received them so that only leaves me with the likelihood that I goofed up. Please, please, please, count your f8s and post your number here or email me. This is important and why I always encourage you to count the very first thing. If you do find your count to be too many, let me know asap. Thanks!

So sad.... St. Thomas instead of Florida..... This is going to be a wonderful vacation for you. Some of the best snorkling off the reefs at St. John's island. I hope you two enjoy the trip! If your partner doesn't like it, please take me next time!

ibex94 05-28-2021 06:27 AM

Janice, I checked again and only 19 baggies in my lot. I have not opened every baggie.... I will do that when I return from my donut run... Grandkids need donuts...

I am sorry for not checking my baggies earlier. I opened my mailer and removed the large zip lock and this morning I had 15 fat quarters. I hope we find the missing 4. I will continue with what I have

Looking for a piece of batik fabric.

sewbizgirl 05-28-2021 08:33 AM

I counted my bags again and I do have 19. Hope the missing ones show up.

Janice McC 05-28-2021 09:07 AM

THanks,SBG. I do have you down as having counted and posted your totals along with Terriamn, Marcialee, Klaws, Annt59, AHWU, Nelco and Ibex94. Everyone else should have gotten an email from me just now. I'm determined to find these f8s, even if it means I goofed by putting them in the wrong bag. Please, if you've gotten my email, get back to me as soon as you can because this is driving me a bit batty! (Or should I say battier...?) LOL
