Good Morning on Election Day where we have had a power outage in South Texas. So Glad we voted early and hubby checked and both of our ballots were accepted and counted.

Happy to report everything went well with dentist yesterday. Root canal was successful and dentist was extremely gentle. Hopefully the fall has stopped giving me any more problems

Reba the Joan of Arc pattern would make a fabulous Star War’s Princess Leia if you changed the hair color.

Terriamn, thank goodness for early voting. Glad your dental work was a success. Let’s hope that’s the end of your Turtle Troubles !

All blocks have been added to the gallery - I think. Let me know if I’ve missed any. MJPEncinitas, I didn’t get a good look at your TBBT block until today. It’s perfect!

We’re getting some much needed rain today, if you can believe it’s much needed after the hurricane’s deluge.

Tomorrow is Ernie day.

Janice so glad you both had a much deserved vacation. And now to get ready for Ernie!
And tomorrow is the end of those horrid political ads.

I went to vote in person this morning. Old school, but I so enjoyed walking in, greeting people, showing my ID and filling in the little bubbles. Lots of people doing the same with about three folks ahead of me in line. No long waits Even saw a young father rocking his baby with one hand and voting with the other. There was a continual line of cars entering and leaving the parking lot indicating that folks are taking participation seriously. It took about 12 minutest start to finish to participate in this precious right of citizenship in the USA. Yeah! Now off to some stitching and perhaps get the address on the squirrels envelope. In the mail tomorrow when I will be running about with a long list of errands.

I'm curious, the new IOS has a different order of commands in the photos app to reduce size. Did they come in small enough? I was worried that it wouldn't work correctly.

Voting here was smooth, I went at 10:30 and there was a very short line. Hugs all and hope your voting goes as smoothly as ours is apparently going. Hugs!

Mailing my blocks back to Janice today!
We voted a few days ago. Anxiously awaiting the results!

Tomorrow is Ernie day. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m going to be very disappointed if after all this anticipation it turns out he’s not the one for us, or visa versa. We’ll see.

A suggestion has come up from a Boomer about the size of the “second” fabric for those of you who like to use one. She suggests being allowed to use a larger piece. In the past, I’d set a size of 6-1/2 inches square. This was done to keep ziplock sizes down so as to be able to accommodate two sets of blocks in a single envelope. If too many people went with second fabrics, it tended to necessitate shipping of two sets in a box, a significant shipping up charge. I’m curious how those of you who like to do two sets feel and how the group in general feels about a larger second fabric size. I believe the suggestion was 13 inches square. Would those of you doing two sets mind the possibility of my having to use a box and the accompanying increased shipping costs? Honestly, I’d rather not try to squish any more fabric into a package than I already do but I’m interested in your thoughts.

Anyone care to comment? Feel free to comment here or email or PM me. Thank you!

Thanks and have a nice evening.

I was the one who made this suggestion. It originally came as a suggestion from JABA when this issue was discussed years ago. She’s the one who suggested 13x13. Her quilts always looked a bit more cohesive than mine, still like a sampler quilt but more pleasing to the eye. As Jaba pointed out It also opened up a lot of choices in blocks, especially for those doing applique.

It might possibly cause $10 extra shipping when Janice sends the initial fabric out to us, for those who were doing both the two month and three month group.. I don’t recall a problem if you were only in one group. Not everyone chose to put in that big a piece of fabric. I’m not sure if there was actually a problem with this for the two set people or not.

The return bags remain the same; 19 blocks for each group of 2 month or 3 month. I do think this was a reasonable cost to make more beautiful quilts but I rarely if ever do two groups so I wouldn’t be affected. I would hate to have that extra $10 keep someone from doing two groups if they wanted to.

Anyway, just my thoughts.

I can see 13x13 if appliqué, but that is less fabric to use if piecing.

I was thinking of sending a larger piece of ombré next time to be used with just white. That would give everyone more fabric to work with. I didn’t think about how much larger the bag would be.

I actually did send a little bit bigger than usual piece of second fabric this time . I love the result! My blocks look so cohesive! I don't mind people doing this, as long as they are not sticking in an extra half yard. Love having more options to create with.
