TG -- beautiful!! You got it done so fast, too. That is one happy grandchild about to get a treasure!

Terriamn, I hope the weather was perfect for your husband to drive home with instead of all scary. I am glad you got your car back.

Janice -- I hope the scheduled surgery fits into your normal life smoothly. I am glad you're going to be getting that over with.

Ibex, hubby made it home AOK, he said it didn’t even get bad till about 20 minutes from our house.

TG Your car quilt is so fun, it will be loved.

I have 2 different baby fabrics I will be sending out for one of the groups. Trying to pick what gender neutral colors to go with the fabrics has me stumped !

Good morning and Happy Winter Solstice. Just think, tomorrow our days will begin getting longer. It’ll be spring soon! I’m tired of the cold and wind. For the first time, I have a little anxiety about all the strong winds after seeing the Helene damage. It was roaring last night and it kept waking me up. Not a pleasant night’s sleep but I can say Ernie slept right through it. Lol

TG, love how the car quilt turned out! Congratulations on a great finish.

Hope you all have a good weekend, as free of pre-Christmas stress as possible. Enjoy.

Janice did you find out when your surgery will be? Sorry you had a rough night and hope the anxiety lessens with time.

String and Story is having a great sale if you need some fabric, their sale is 40% off the posted price and shipping is a flat $5.00

Thanks, Terri! I had never heard of String and Story.... They have a nice selection of moderns and solids.

Isn't it silly how we get all giddy when we see one of our blocks in someones quilt? I sure do! I must admit that more then once I had to return to the gallery, thank you Janice, and see what I sent so I can locate it in the quilt top photo. I forget sometimes. ;)

I had Christmas with my brother and his children today! A wonderful group of 23 folks noshing on brunch goodies, opening presents, playing with children, telling tales of Christmases past and favorite "what-evers". The adults exchanged ornaments and got to keep or steal from others. Fun! Then from my brother and sister in law I was gifted a few yards of....Liberty fabric!!! They were in London this fall and I asked that they bring me back a little piece. Well, I got a large print and two companion fabrics. Only other quilters would know why this is such a special gift. The fabric not any thing I would have picked out myself, but I accept the challenge to use this lovely fabrics to make a special quilt for myself. Oh, the silky softness of this fabric is amazing.

They were both astounded and impressed at the selection of types of fabric and the store as a whole. Not just fabric, the whole store. My brother was particularly impressed with the Christmas Shop. He said it was not like anything he has ever seen in the U.S. He bought a glass kingfisher ornament from Poland that looks like the real bird and was so exquisitely decorated. I hardly dared touch it.

One more celebration tomorrow after church then ............ I will wait for Christmas Day to arrive.

String and Story is owned and run by HollyAnne Knight in Duluth, GA. She and I lived in the same neighborhood in GA, although I only met her once when we were both walking. We both moved shortly thereafter. I took her online FMQ quilting class which was very helpful. She very good at teaching FMQ online, if somewhat frenetic at times. I actually like that about her, tons of energy. Check her out.

Turns out I wasn’t the only one who was worried about the wind and trees coming down on the house. It’s apparently a thing lots of us who went through Helene are dealing with. Never had storm anxiety before but I’m definitely a little nervous about it after seeing thousands of trees down, with way too many landing on houses destroying them and even killing occupants. I’m pretty sure it’ll wear off with time. At least I hope so.

I’ve been thinking about all of you. I thought I’d get my blocks turned into table runners and placemats by now but of course I didn’t. These last few days I’ve been getting the house ready for the Christmas visitors. The first arrive tomorrow, my daughter and her three year old twins. However one twin was throwing up yesterday so we will see! I went to the library and got Pete the Cat books, their favorite, the relatives came, a book about their first sleepover and a book about jumping into the pool as these are all things we are going to do. And as a bonus I got graphic novels about Deadpool for their older brother. We borrowed a little table and chairs for a little art table. We have borrowed the same table from Buy Nothing for three years.

One of the boom quilts is on the bed the twins parents are staying in.

My sons and one with his partner, are coming Christmas Day and my son in law with my two bonus grandchildren arrive on the 28th. It will be fun, but exhausting. Two weeks of relatives.

I hope everyone stays healthy! And enjoys the holiday season.

I too am glad to see the days getting longer. Winter solstice is always a hopeful turning point for me.
