I got some hand sewing in last night and finished the binding on a small wall hanging quilt I plan to use for Easter. The pattern is Mr. McGregor, and it is a rabbit. This is Julie Porter's design
https://i.etsystatic.com/12454676/r/...65611_bavn.jpg Then at 8 AM we watch the Rose Parade in person. It was the first time we saw it in person, and it was amazing. In order to be there in time, we slept in my small class B van motor home on a parking lot. It is normally my go around town vehicle, think medical appointments. I must say it was a bit snug, but it was about 43 degrees so being snug was not necessarily bad. |
That is adorable, Annaquilts! With plenty of time for Easter left, too. I'm glad the Rose Parade was fun for you. I hope to see it in person one day, too.
Did you see the Mississippi music float and the marching band associated with it, Sonic Boom? I hope they were doing some fancy marching as they walked past you. We are proud of both of them here in Jackson, MS. |
Watched the parade and Sonic Boom was awesome. As well as every band and Float. I would love to see and watch in person and then see the floats afterwards. But I don’t do well in crowds. So was a wonderful morning in living room!

Good afternoon. Finished green, yellow and purple blocks and I'll start on orange tomorrow. I'm half way done with my candy blocks. Woohoo!

Happy New Year, everyone! I spent NYD putting together the Boom quilts. Three of the 4 are now ready for quilting. It's frustrating finally wanting to sew and then to have a lame hand. I worked around it, but can't wait for something to be done about it. Dr. visit is next Tues.
Hope you are all well and ready for a shiny new year! |
Oh, and if you want the clues to the Merry Mayhem NYD Mystery quilt, they are all still up on her website today. Don't know how long she will leave them up, tho.

Good morning from a very chilly WNC. Looks like we’ll be in for some even colder weather in a few days so it’ll be good to be home and sew. Today is coffee at a friend’s house, a trip to the LQS and library and then home to make more orange blocks. Am loving this mindless sewing.
SBG, hope you get answers and help for your hand next week. Time to brave the cold and put the bird feeders out. We pull them in nightly because of the local bears. The birds are lining up on the fence, waiting. Their breakfast is late. |
I can see the birds on your fence, Janice. Wish I had bear problems.
|
Oh my I think I prefer our squirrels to bears. That would scare the heck out of me.
Washed my first fabric for the boom. I love the fabric but not knowing the gender of baby beans I might need to ask for just off white to be added. Decisions decisions. Our Thursday quilt group is going to start on a house quilt pattern that I suggested last year, just house and trees.. looks like a fun project. A little cooler here in the Deep South but nothing like the polar vortex some of you might be expierencing. Stay warm |
We have the last visitors here today. I’m giving swimming lessons to the three year olds. Then off to the quilt shop so my grandson can pick out boom fabric for the block printing quilt we are making together. Tomorrow they leave and we are left with our youngest son who unexpectedly moved back home two weeks ago. IF the fabric is due back in the second week of February we think we can make the deadline.
I have to tell you I”m a bit exhausted for the two weeks of visitors. The three year olds had their first sleepover without mom and dad last night. Me and two three year olds in a big bed. They always made sure part of them was touching part of me. I hope to get a lot of quilting done this year! I look forward to booming with you again. Have a happy healthy New Year! Mary Jo |
