Sewbiz there is a shop in the next mall over that hubby likes to go to, he drops me off at quilt store and says take your time. Couldn’t find a background color that screamed buy me, guess it will be scrappy. Decided to make the roofs out of black and white fabrics, houses will be bright colors. Not sure on the trees or house doors and windows yet.

Oh and some very pretty floral did just happen to land in my cart and it will be a future boom fabric

Heat wave it’s up to 58 and feels much better. Looks deceiving here with the sun shining so bright

Good morning. It’s 21 degrees but feels like 6 with the strong winds. Brrr. Arctic blast is here!

SBG, the color block quilt is based on a pic I have with no info attached. It’s all candy squares in 6 colors. I just have 3 more red blocks to finish and the center is done. It’ll be qayg. I’ll post pix if I get it done before we head to Asheville later today.

Terriamn, hope you enjoyed wandering through all the fabrics even though you didn’t find the right backing. Tomorrow is a lunch with friends but on the way back I’m going to stop at a different LQS to soak in all the color and pick up backing and sashing for the color block quilt, probably black. I often find what I need in the flat folds at discounted prices. Just thinking though, I do have some old red that I could use…we’ll see.

Stay warm, Boomers.

Went ahead and finished the red blocks just now. Pic is below. I’ll QAYG with black sashing. 750 candy blocks used. Woo hoo!

Got my surgery date. It's 2/10, a Monday. This shouldn't impact the swap much at all as my plan is to have all f8s sent out on 2/8 at the latest. Here is my tentative schedule:
Sign-ups start 1/12 and end 11:59 pm EDT, Thursday, January 23, 2025

ALL F8s due to me Thursday, February 6, 2025
I ship F8s to you Saturday, February 8, 2025

3 month group’s blocks due to me Friday, May 2, 2025
I mail 3 month group's blocks Wednesday, May 7, 2025

Those of you who are interested, please plan accordingly. I may be offline for a day or two around the 10th, but I can surely handle posting of pix and questions from the couch. I'll have to decide whether to do a group myself. I might be able to sew later in the swap but the first month might be tough. I'll figure it out.

Have a great day all.

Great color quilt, Janice! Totally not the Duckworth I was envisioning. Please show us how you quilt it once you are done.

I definitely want to do the next Boom. Only one group, prob.

I'm off to the hand doctor now!

Yeah, good news about the swap and having a firm date will be good for you too, Janice. Glad I cut and bagged my fabric yesterday. Need to find one more piece to complete my set. Then write my greeting and directions and stuff my mailing bag.

I guess that means I need to get the two sets of Boom blocks hiding out in my "To Do" basket sashed, layered and quilted by May. Doable as long as I don't find any squirrels trails to take me into the bushes hunting for new discoveries. Tee-Hee-Hee!

SBG, good luck at the doctor. Hope you get solutions to the problems.

Back home now... first order of business was starting the fire(!) Dr. says it's a pinched nerve. It's not the Carpal tunnel, but the tunnel right next to it... forgot the name. He thinks the pinch is coming from the elbow... but it can be up in my neck. Don't know how I could live for 68 years without anything pinching, and now it is. Anyway, I have been referred somewhere for a "nerve test" to identify just which nerve is being pinched, and where. Then I go back to the dr. to schedule surgery to snip something to release the pinching nerve(s). Good to know! But it won't be fixed as quick as I'd like.

Thanks for thinking of me! :)

Woohoo indeed, Janice. The blocks look great. I'm glad to hear your surgery is scheduled. Sewbizgirl, I'm glad you have a reason. Did the doctor recommend any stretches to try to unpinch the nerve?

terriamn 01-08-2025 10:13 AM

Sewbiz I was certain you had a pinched nerve, have had similar problems in the past and they are very painful. Mine have all originated from the neck. Not trying to scare you but to prepare you. The nerve test was pretty painful for me the first time. After that. Knew what to expect and it wasn’t as bad. Hoping your wait isn’t long.

Janice I love your candy blocks. Bold and beautiful.

Sent my dd a snow brush vis Amazon they are back to expecting 10” of snow and hers disappeared long ago. Should be
there today for the snow tomorrow. She is more concerned about the weight of the snow on their carport roof.
