Woohoo indeed, Janice. The blocks look great. I'm glad to hear your surgery is scheduled. Sewbizgirl, I'm glad you have a reason. Did the doctor recommend any stretches to try to unpinch the nerve?

He said I need to keep my left arm as straight as possible, especially while sleeping. That was hard last night. And no more leaning on that elbow while at the computer. I guess I'll find out more when I get the nerve test. Not looking forward to that... it's like touching an electric fence, I hear. I don't relish getting zapped!

SBG, I had nerve conduction studies and they were very mild electrical sensations. Obviously I don’t know if you are having something similar but I was also told it was like touching electric wires and that was wildly wrong. I’ll hope your tests are equally easy.

It looks like I will start signups in a few days. The only change to the format is that I will offer a 3 month group only. It’s been several rounds since we’ve had a two month group as there just is not enough interest. You can choose to do one or two sets, just as we’ve been doing for a couple of years. Should enough folks express interest in a two month group in the future, I will reconsider. Be looking for signups on the 12th.

Ich!! Sewbizgirl, that test sounds awful! Did he give you a splint to put on your arm to keep it straight at night? I have a splint for my wrist when it gets out of whack that helps to immobilize it.

Dr. Google provided me with these potential at home relief options: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/art...#home-remedies The splint is listed here, too. It also says to get lots of sleep because the body heals while you sleep. So you have a great excuse to take some naps!!

And don't watch the news. Everything is way too depressing with those wildfires on top of all the other bad news in the world. Stress doesn't help heal. Janice -- turn off that TV, too!

Quilty hugs to all of you.

PS Try an anti-inflammation diet, too, just in case this is something inflammatory causing the pinch.

Good to know your nerve test wasn't too bad, Janice. That makes me feel better!

No splint yet. He said to wrap an extra pillow around my arm so it can't bend much at the elbow. He said their elbow splint was very uncomfortable to sleep in. Maybe I'll get one after surgery?

Thanks for the link you provided, Ibex, as well as your suggestions.

The first time I had the test it was for both carpal tunnel and tennis elbow, not sure if they had to double the tests or not. Also I had let the pain get way out of control since I was terrified of having the surgery and taking the time off of work. It was like touching an electric fence over and over. Hoping you will expierence the level of shocks Janice had. Interestingly years later when I had another pinched nerve in my neck they sent me to one of their chiropractors right at the clinic. Went 3 times a week for 2 weeks and once a week for 2 more weeks and I was good to go. He said the treatment wouldn’t have worked if I hadn’t gone in relatively soon after the pain had started. Now when my arm or shoulder hurts I head straight to the chiropractor. Doesn’t always work but it’s my go to. Luckily the last 4 years my insurance had no deductibles for chiropractors. Will have to check on what it is with my new insurance

Libster

Good evening. Well actually not a nice one. I received a phone call from Libster’s nephew, with whom she was living in recent years. He let me know that Libby passed away on December 29, 2024 following her battle with cancer. It was a very difficult time for her. Her nephew wanted me to tell you all that Libby no longer hurts. Libby will be sorely missed.

So sorry for those of you who knew Libster as a fellow boom swapper and quilter and of course her family. I went back and looked at the blocks she made. Beautiful fabric choices and lovely work for all of us. Thank you for letting us know, Janice.

I see that Ashville is expecting to be hit by snow in the next few days. Hoping you are ready and that your neighbors are prepared. We Michiganders are getting beautiful soft snow feathers in my area, 1 - 6 inches, but along the BIG lake, much more wind, snow and icy roads.

Rest in peace, Libster. Thank you for your inspiration all these years. Raise a glass!

Thank you for letting us know, Janice. That is wonderful that her nephew was able to contact you so you could pass the word. I offer condolences to everyone who was lucky enough to have quilted with her. We will meet again in the quiltingboard in heaven. For now she gets to quilt with those she has been missing and gets to see again.

Libster was in the very first Boom I joined... #17. She did almost all the Booms, except when the cancer made it impossible. She was a regular in this group. Several other friends of hers in this swap have already passed too... JoanLizBay, Jaba, Seesawsue. Too many are gone! But at least we had the pleasure of knowing them for a little while. Libby always made really nice blocks for this swap. She was so reliable. Even when not participating, she would lurk and comment once in a while. I will miss her!
