Thank you for offering to send them for us, Janice! I will put one in the mail to you tomorrow. Expect it in a month....

MJPEncintas -- I was wondering what had started the first fire. Thank you for posting that. I have too many relatives in CA and I'm worried for everyone. That is sweet of you to offer your home if folks need a place. We have to help one another at times like this.

So sorry to hear about Libster, she was so helpful to me as a newbie when I first started the booms. She will be sorely missed.

So excited to see the date for the next sign up. I am thinking of sending two sets this time as I need several quilts for next Christmas.

Janice, good luck with the surgery, wishing you the best outcome.

been snowing off and on for 5 days straight here in PA. I live south of Pittsburgh. Good day to clean up the sewing room from the holiday sewing. I will be getting my fabrics cut for the next boom too.

Oh, my stars. I’ve been crumb piecing again. Probably 20 blocks were made and I added them to a pile I’ve been making on and off for years. I use a few then make more. The more I make, the more scraps I find. How can that be? Managed to go through one large ziplock bag today and there are several more.

DH and I have begun our first sourdough starter. it’s not supposed to rise much the first day, but it’s growing like crazy! Well, I guess that’s good. Anyone make sourdough? Could use any pointers.

Anyone wishing to send a card for Libster’s family, please mail it to me in the next week or so. I’ll package them all up and send en mass. I’m certain they will be appreciated. If anyone needs my address, pm or email me.

Tomorrow I’ll post the signup. Get ready!

Well fifteen years ago we had to evacuate; me, My two teen sons and my excitable French exchange student son, two guinea pigs and a bunnie went to stay at friends in LA. My French son came to visit this year and talked about that fire.
My husband was conveniently in Wisconsin. When we drove north there were fires on both sides of I5.

They don’t know why the fire started. They know where the big one started but not how. : While lightning is the most common source of fires in the U.S., according to the National Fire Protection Association, investigators were able to rule that out quickly. There were no reports of lightning in the Palisades area or the terrain around the Eaton Fire, which started in east Los Angeles County and has also destroyed hundreds of homes.

The next two most common causes: fires intentionally set, and those sparked by utility lines.

If someone set the fire intentionally I hope they go to jail for a long time. Many times it’s inexperienced campers doing something stupid.

I hope everyone is doing ok in the storms back east. I heard they got snow in Atlanta.

Stay healthy everyone. Getting old is not for the meek!

Good morning squirrels! Probably the last time I’ll write that. It’s 16 degrees but nice inside as I look out. I’m going to brave the cold, snow and ice for a three minute walk up the hill to a friend’s for coffee. When I get back later this morning, I’ll post for Boom 33, Stars. I’ve already named it in honor of Libster who loved star blocks.

I'm about to head out. Wish me luck!

Stars is perfect! So many of our blocks are star variations and I LOVE them in all there many forms. Enjoy your three minute walk and coffee and I will pop back in to official sign on for Boom 33.

Michigan, at least my part of of the mitten, is cold, snowy and beautiful. Some parts have 7" to 12" on the ground but in my back yard it is more like 4" to 5" and easy to live with. More snow is forecasted for this week, but when it comes in small bits day after day.........no problem. Northerners are accustomed to the use of a shovel, broom, snowblowers and sometimes just staying inside until the big plows come through. In the mean time, I just gaze at the snow on the trees and marsh vegetation and absorb the beauty.

Finished one of the boom sets. It’s not the best picture, had a heck of a time getting it back on the design wall without the daybed blocking it
