I just came in to look around. You all are making some beautiful blocks! Hopefully I'll be back for the next swap.
Happy sewing... These are two blocks I made today. The first is a Cross and Crown for WMUT. It makes me want to make a Civil War quilt. The second block is a Old Favorite block, for Hav. Give me a second to load the pics from my phone.... |
All the blocks posted today have been STUNNING. The tree block Terri made is so pretty!
|
What a great morning to come here and see so many beautiful blocks! To echo SBG, they’re stunning! LAF, I love my block. I was hoping some of you would pull the vine color and use it and you did. Excellent!
I’ve got one more block cut out that needs an hour of sewing time this morning. I hope to post it later then I’ll be onto some others. Have a grand day! |

This is called Double Sawtooth Star from McCalls Quilting 2015 block reference. I swear a consistent 1/4" eludes me! I promise after a 10 year break from quilt blocks I am definitely humbled by my machine. For years I used my 1991 Pfaff 1473 that I LOVED. During mask making it almost died and I bought my current machine sight unseen and untried, boy what a new learning curve for this old dog. Thanks in advance for "grace" with my inconsistent construction. These were definitely sewn with cursing but no wine.

Here are my block accomplishments for the day. Love all the fabrics available!
Hav- I am a sucker for polka dots, and these just made me so happy. I made a playful pinwheel block for you LStew- I have never done a christmas quilt, so these cute elves were my first choice to play with. I chose a red fabric that kinda looked christmas star-like. Moonwork - My husband was immediately drawn to your colors (and he is veteran, so I guess you chose well!). Hope this star works for you. Sewbiz - I don't keep a stash of batiks, so I hope these blues add to your ocean feel.

Wow, beautiful blocks Moon, SBG, abd LAF. My favorite part of the morning is sipping coffee and perusing this thread.
As you make your blocks, remember to be sure you understand the requests. (Watch out for Hav’s as she does want white added to her two fabrics.) Any questions can be posted here or you can pm the person. (Incidentally, make sure your mailboxes aren’t full! I’ve had that happen a couple of times.) Shoot for that 12-1/2 size and unless the person asks for the scraps which seldom happens, you are free to keep them if you wish. Got most of my lilies in the ground. Still have a dozen more to add but it’ll have to wait a couple days. Happily the ground was much softer after the rain. Thank heavens for small favors. Hope everyone has a pleasant day and week. I’ll add the pix to the gallery shortly.

Here’s an Amish Star for SBG. It’s the whitest white I had so it should work. This block and I went round and round. I kept putting on the corner units incorrectly. Whew! Glad this is right now.

Hubby just informed me we are leaving this Sunday. For some reason Tuesday was the departure date in my head. We will drive to Paducah and spend several nights there and then off to Pace Florida to receive lots of hugs and smiles from great grandbaby. She is 14 months old already Enjoy your day, I will be busy sewing

Another practice block for me.
It was a small block that I enlarged each piece to get to 12.5 square. Surprisingly it went together great. In the amall squares you can see where I flipped the orange and used the backside of it. Now that I know my measurements are correct, I plan to cut out a Boom fabric using this pattern
