Im mailing out 16 packages tomorrow,They are going to be for a 1930's quilt,So now I have to decide what I want to do with the rest.Maybe a new lap quilt for my living room.

fryguymoore 08-15-2010 08:52 PM

Since I was out of town on Saturday, and heard of so many squishes arriving, I expected a bunch. Nope. I got one squishy from ReneeBobby. I don't think it is telling me what it wants to be. I have never waited for fabric to speak, so I'm not sure what to listen for. I really, really, really hope it speaks up tomorrow so I can make it before I have to head out again. [Our apartment needs tile, and the tennates aren't too happy without their shower  ] They probably wouldn't understand me staying home to quilt!

I am happy to hear my squishes are arriving 8-)

reneebobby 08-16-2010 03:17 AM

Hehehe I heard my squishy could be a little shy but when she comes out of her shyness look out she's a jabber jaw. hahaha Okay fryguymoore your boomerang is on it's way home. Hope you like it I sure do that is why it's out of here.

Cool! I should get it tomorrow since you are so close :D

Your squishes is a demanding little thing!!!! I will have to try what she wants on different fabric to make sure I can do it. Is the daughter this is for, by chance, a teenager or a three year old? [having a teenager myself I know they really are not much different than toddlers :? ]

reneebobby 08-16-2010 04:37 AM

Oh no she's going to be 27 and planning on getting married which she is showing extremely early signs of being a bridezilla. hahaha

dawson.tracy35 08-16-2010 06:09 AM

Just got my mail andonly 1 squishie today from Leakus. I love that purple!! Its so purty!

wendsy 08-16-2010 07:44 AM

kwiltkrazy-what a great idea!

Jupiter 08-16-2010 08:15 AM

HI KATHY,

That sounds like a fun surprise for you when hubby gets home. Can't wait to see what he picked.

Jupiter 08-16-2010 08:23 AM

I like your heart idea for signatures on the back of your quilt... with sa chunk of each persons own fabric. I think you should ask for city/state/provence too.

bibliostone 08-16-2010 08:26 AM

Ooh! Five more packages today. I need to get to the post office and mail mine. It is interesting to see the various ways these are packaged. The postage on the packages today ranged from $.44 to $1.39. The ones I received on Saturday were all $.44. So far I have receive from: fryguymoore, barbsbus, moonrise, renneebobby, MegsAnn2, montanablu, wendsy, Missgigglewings and leakus.

wendsy 08-16-2010 08:46 AM

Squishies Galore! My mailbox just gushed! I received 7 from MegsAnn, ReneeBobby, Missgigglewings, Kwiltkrazy, Barbsbus,Fryguymoore, and Leakus. What great treats! Too bad I have other obligations this week-I'll be in and out all week, helping my aunt with camping for a local tractor and steam engine show, so no sewing until next week.

I did try to do a 3D pinwheel that I got the instruction from the site, but it left a very thick middle-by the time I sewed the parts together each seam was 6-10 seams together-the seams were so thick the 1/4" seam allowances stood upright making a bump-I guess it could be seen at 3D. Otherwise the top of the design turned out neat. But was realy glad to have tried it on scrap material!

kwiltkrazy 08-16-2010 09:34 AM

OMG 7 SQUISHIES!!!!!!!Barbsbus, MegsAnn, Fryguymoore,Missgiggles,Moonrise. leakus, and Reneebobby. Wow, such neat fabrics. Wish I could just sit and play.

One thing you can try is to open out the center seam allowance and press them so that it looks like a "wheel" going around the center point. This should help to reduce the bulk. You may have to remove a stitch or two from the edge of the fabric to that 1/4" mark, but this will alleviate some of the bulk.

Missgigglewings, your envelope was opened and part of your fabric damaged, there is enough for me to work with but thought you ought to know.

Everything is very pretty, I'm ready to start.
Lookout world, here I come:

I'm ready to cut!

The mail lady put 8 fat 8ths in my mailbox today. So much fun seeing and feeling all the pretty materials from:
fryguymoore
kwiltkrazy
leakus
MegsAnn
missgigglewings
moonrise
ReneeBobby
Wendsy
Now to let them all tell me what they want to turn into.

moonrise 08-16-2010 02:17 PM

Today I received 6 squishies, from:

leakus - I have some of this exact fabric already, but in green!

barbsbus - Pretty! I already think I know what I'll do with it.

fryguymoore - Gorgeous batik! I'll have to think on this one a bit. ;)

kwiltkrazy - Yours is already talking to me!

megsann - Another gorgeous batik! Yum! :D

missgigglewings - The post office must've played football with your envelopes, because the envelope was mangled on the corner. It arrived in a "body bag". :( However, the fabric appears to be okay. Whew! It must be frightened from the trip, because so far it hasn't said a word. I'll take care of it and reassure it that everything's okay, and I bet it'll start talking soon. ;)

DH played a prank on me earlier when he came back from the mailbox. He knows I'm anxiously awaiting all these fun squishies! As he was bringing the mail in, he told me all we got was three magazines. NOOOOO!!!! Then he handed me all the squishies. What a meanie! It's not nice to play tricks on someone when squishies are concerned! ;)

Sadly, I will be off to a slow start this round. One of the kids started school today, I start classes tomorrow, and we are getting new floors downstairs this weekend so all of the furniture has to be moved! Phew! I am tired just thinking about it. But, I can't wait to get everything put back together so I can start on your blocks. :)

OdessaQuilts 08-16-2010 04:27 PM

Squishie report:

Today I got F8s from barbsbus, leakus, missgigglesings, and MegsAnn. They're pretty. Sitting in the basked with the others, just chatting away quietly. Eventually they'll come to a consensus on what they want to be when they grow up.

Can't wait to get mine cut and out. Hopefully in the next few days.

Odessa

purplemem 08-16-2010 04:31 PM

I will be mailing Friday, waiting for payday to buy postage:-(
It's okay, somebody has to be last to mail them out!

dawson.tracy35 08-16-2010 04:33 PM

It is going to be next week before I can send mine out guys! Hubby is going to be home Friday and we have so much work to do! He leaves back out Tuesday so I should be able to have fabric bought and cut and mailed. I started to use stuff I had in my stash but its really small and all I could find was some mismatched stuff, nothing that really went together.
Question, are you guys all sending the same fabric to everyone or are any of you mixing up the fabrics? This is my first boomerang so I am not sure, thought i would ask!
Tracy

purplemem 08-16-2010 04:36 PM

I've finally decided to send out 4 or 6 different children's fabrics for baby quilts. If I sent 4, I have a 9 patch to work from, if I send 6,
I have 24x36 to start the quilt. Add 2 borders and that might work...and then an outside border of the original fabric-those would be cute quilts! This is a definite maybe!!

hoppyfrog 08-16-2010 05:20 PM
