My suggestion to you would be to leave the quilt the way it is and it will be a reminder of how much you have grown. In a year or so make another quilt for him to show how he has grown as a person and developed a particular liking for certain things. In the new quilt, you will be able to show off you newly developed talent. Making both of you winners!

I have found that my eye is improving for seeing the errors so it is possible that in the beginning I didn't even realize the error! Yes, I'm that much of a new quilter. I have a blanket I made for a nephew in February/March and I chopped so many points... I am considering redoing the entire thing! :-) But it's a baby so he probably won't mind.

I personally would rather have a simple 9-patch that was executed well than a more difficult pattern that just didn't make it. I realize that we have all levels of quilters on the board, but in order to become a better quilter sometimes you have to try, try, try again.

Personally, I have probably re-sewn as many blocks as I have completed on the first attempt.

And no offence taken, J.

I agree also - while 9 patch blocks CAN be overly simple, sometimes the fabric dictates it. Case in point the bug/animal blocks & some large florals that you just can't bear to cut into any more than necessary.

I was on a roll last night/this morning. (I went to bed at 2:12 am. I got 7 blocks done, and one that I am ripping apart because I sewed a portion on the wrong direction! YIKES! DH said Oh it looks fine....send it! UMMMM! NOOOO! I can't send this this way! LOL He doesn't understand it has to look like it makes sense when you are trying to make it look like it makes sense. ;)

The one that I mixed up and had sewn wrong was CyndiH's block. I was LOVIN' this block! Only to find when I got it all done it was wrong. ugh. That's ok, I am ripping it out today and will get it fixed.

Blocks getting ready to go out probably tomorrow-because I want to put plastic around them and I forgot it at home:

Montanablu
Moonrise
Bolin0909
HeyJami
PaintmeJudy

Holding Navarre2011 and OKDarla's blocks until the mail situation is over with.

Hopefully will finish up CyndiH's block tonight and send it out too. :)

I will be putting pictures up on my blog of these blocks. Even the one for CyndiH just so I have it as a reminder to pay attention when doing the final construction.

Whew! Got all the pictures posted on my blog. That took a while. Some of them have a mind of their own. I tried posting PaintmeJudy's block 5 times by rotating it but on the 6th try I said whatever goes on is staying! LOL I really enjoyed these blocks. I think I am enjoying trying new things. I have been looking at blocks that I am receiving and duplicating them by looking and measuring them. I love it! ;)

Navarre2011 06-23-2011 10:12 AM

You can send mine I'm in Turkey. Just do not put the country on the envelope though. There is no stike over here. Thanks!
