Ah, that's a good point! Most of the ornaments I'm making are flat or fairly flat this year. I'll be kicking into crafty mode this weekend to start on them!! There's nothing like an ornament swap to get the creative juices flowing!

So true Miz Melly. I end up making some extra to hang on presents as decorations too. I have one of mine finished and have a couple in the works. It is so fun to make ornaments. I used to host a Ornament swap party at my home and it was so fun to do. I also used to provide the makings to craft an ornament while they were here after lunch. It was so special to have my buds over during the holidays. I always took a picture of each one in front of the tree and sent home a copy with them. I gave it up when most of my friends passed away. That is the hard part about getting old.

But, The big craft faire is this week end and I will be taking my 9 year old niece to them. I am sure lots of ideas will be there to see.

DeDeMac, when I first looked at the picture I thought wow that's different with the bottom of the tree and packages hanging off the mat. Duh... then I realized it was on a wood looking fabric. Made more sense.lol I love it.

The last college I worked at (not my current location) we (the staff) would have a cookie swap that was a blast! Depending on how many people signed up, we would make several dozen cookies (store bought was prohibited) and package them (depending on numbers) in ziploc baggies with a recipe attached to the bag and then we'd each get a big haul of a variety of cookies to take home for the holidays. Boy, do I miss those days. My current location tries to be too "PC" so we can't even call it Christmas break, it's WINTER break. I'd do something like that with my friends, but only about half of us know our way around an oven. And I'm retiring next June, so I guess I'll have to find a group of quilters and get active with them.

If you're my partner, you'll be fine! :p Whichever ornament I'll decide to send out is going to be flat as I am posting internationally and it's ways cheaper if it can be sent in a padded envelope than a big box...

DH, thought I lost my marbles when I started to make all the 1 inch squares.:D He just shakes his head at me when I just make up the design as I go. But this one was fun.

I think I've finally settled on a design -- now to get my name to see if my recipient has any preferences...

Do you like cardinal birds?

I found some AWESOME fabric yesterday and am thinking
of using that.

i dont put up a tree anymore but love getting ornaments and making them for this swap. i see everyone talking but ornaments like they must go on tree but like one person said" flat to hang on a all" is good also. Couple years ago i did quilted banners for the two swappers i had. you may see them on the second page of my album marked 'quilts" one is redwork angels and other said JOY. i have also done cross stitch ornaments in a banner style although smaller o could go on tree or wall. i believe Dedemac got one last year. i m still kicking ideas round for this year so not as fr advanced on this swap as my baby girl Anastasia. i hve seen the ornament she is making and it is sooo cute.
