Here's my practice. This block makes up really nice and is so pretty. I also attached the colors I think I will use. The photo is hazy for some reason. Hope you can get enough of an idea. It is okay to make a 3 colored pinwheel as long as all blocks are the same? Hope so. Thanks again for putting on the swap. Sending PM.

Deb watkins 04-14-2012 06:51 AM

Three colors for the pinwheel or all of them different - no matter to me - just as long as all the blocks end up the same. Welcome to the swap! (Hey girls hooked ANOTHER NEW one!)

karenpatrick 04-14-2012 07:59 AM

Ifstamper, love your practice block. The flowers look so summery. Is everyone using white or WOW as the background color?

Deb watkins 04-14-2012 11:56 AM

You can use any color scheme you want. The only stipuation is the block design itself. Two colors, three, scrappy.....

lfstamper 04-14-2012 03:32 PM

Thank for letting me join in! I already washed and cut my fabric. Finally used something from my stash...lol.

marcialee 04-15-2012 10:08 AM

Just signed up. Always up for a challenge. I will post a picture of my sample as soon as I make it.

lol don't get dizzy and fall off <3

QuilterMomma 04-16-2012 07:57 AM

So the OCD in me took over and I cut up two sets of the merry go round block and a third started. I do mean just started though. I have the background and one color but not sure of the third. The red and white ones are going to look good. Had to finish an embroidered plane gift for boss for his birthday so did not get to sew up. I need to finish these before next week, carpal tunnel surgery. Finally going to take care of it. Will post photos in next couple of days of my fun creation. Will pm for a mailing address again Deb. Been since last fall that I mailed you anything.

Deb watkins 04-16-2012 05:31 PM

My oh my......see what happens when you skip one of my swaps! You get compulsive! Horray!!!!

QuilterMomma 04-17-2012 10:32 AM

Compulsive is not the word I would use. I brought my squares to work so I can mark the angles and then maybe, just maybe, tonight I will be able to sew up a few after I take daughter to driver's training. Husband went out of town for a friend who had a stroke and now I am the head of the house. Be glad when he is back.

Yeah, I have a couple of samples done. Just have not been home. Glad when husband gets home to help with the driver training stuff. Here are a couple of blocks I finished for this swap. Will make one set of each. They are actually fun and easy to make. I will have to finish these up before the surgery because hard for hand to hold ruler to cut. If I get time, I want to do a 30's set as well. I will have to use different greens, but will make the background white and the one petal set a peach/orange color with white butterflies. Will see what time allows. Have to finish those UFOs yet. Found I do not like english paper piecing at all.

Fraew 04-18-2012 09:34 AM

Ok twist my arm. If you have room for a newbie swapper, count me in. :)

This block screams to me in 30s red, white and blue for summer. I was trying not to shop but you've forced me to go to the store. Shame on all of you. :D

QuilterMomma 04-18-2012 10:35 AM

How do you think I got hooked?

Deb watkins 04-18-2012 01:36 PM

Welcome to the swap Fraew! Red, white and blue is great!!!

QuilterMomma 04-19-2012 08:07 AM

Hey Deb, before I get to carried away here, how many sets were we allowed to send? I have 2.5 done now and was going to stop there. Is that .5, soon to be third to many? The red/white, the peach/green, and 1930s fabric peach and green.

Yeah!!!!! All y'all will LOVE her work!

Fraew 04-19-2012 12:02 PM

@SheriR: :o Awe shucks. No pressure to live up to that intro Sheri... ;)

Deb watkins 04-19-2012 03:15 PM

I can get three blocks sets into one padded FRE. You can make as many as you want - but more than three will require another FRE $5.30 stamp and address label. (My, she is really, really hooked)

Don't let her fool you. She'll probably EPP it and it will be perfect! Oh and I saw her fabric choices and I know y'all will LOVE what she picked.

urgodschild2 04-19-2012 04:17 PM

I love this pattern and would or am thinking of joining. I am in Australia right now and do not get home until May 3. Do you think that is enough time for me to make 12 squares up by June 1??????? When I get home I will try it and let you all know. Yep I am a newbie to this. LOL. the more I see the more I like. Oh wait I just checked the rules and I have to let you know before June 1 and get them finished by June 30th. Hmmmmmmmm even more tempting.

Barb

SheriR 04-19-2012 06:08 PM

Barb, Once you make one you'll see how easy is and fun!!!

Deb watkins 04-20-2012 06:25 AM

Barb, not to discourage you, but please check the cost of postage to the US and the return. I would love to have you participate but don't want it to be cost prohibitive for you. I had a swapper from Japan, and she sent me the $$ in Yen. since I had no way of exchanging it (went to several banks and such) I was out $26 for 12 blocks. Oh duh....just re-read your post, you are there now and will be home - Disneyland - later. Sorry.....YES, please join, you will have time as these blocks do go together rather quickly.

I think I am going to have to stop at three because I have to finish up a another swap and hand surgery next week. Plus I have six more ufos to get done this month to stay the course and wouldn't you know, going to be a sunny warm weekend and the tiller is ready to go so here I come garden as well. Boy, a woman's work is never done. Lord knew what he was talking about on Psalm 31.

Deb watkins 04-20-2012 05:03 PM

I hear what you are saying! I have several gardens to take care of as well as getting the vegetable one done. 18 walker bags to finish before May 6, the Cinco de Mayo wallhanging to be done by Monday. But sometimes I just have to indulge with the creativity and start something else!

urgodschild2 04-21-2012 03:06 AM

I am only in Australia until May 2 when I return to the USA> So I will be stateside and postage is indeed much less money mailing withing the USA. I live in CA so won't be a problem. But thank you for being kind to warn me about out of county postage.

Barb

PS Deb.....I guess I should have read the rest of your post too. LOL. Being close to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm ....they both have exhange money places. I walk over to Knott's to exchange my Australian dollars back to US currency. But it would be a hugh handicap for anyone who does not have that close by. I did mail my exchanges for this last month for one of the other sites and it cost me $87 dollars. I don't know how the ladies do it who live down here....God bless them.

Barb, maybe I should send you my Yen in the swap envelope and have you exchange it for me!

marcialee 04-22-2012 04:23 PM

Is there a way I can post a picture that isn't so big. I checked my camera and the settings are good there.

Deb watkins 04-22-2012 06:09 PM

We will have a variety of colors.....and vintage.....and scrappy.......make 'em and send 'em! See, they ARE easy once you get going!

SheriR 04-22-2012 08:14 PM

Marcialee your picture size looks fine to me and so do both your blocks. In fact I like either of your solids with the small print in your first block too. Anyway you choose to make them will look great to me. I know I spend the most time picking my fabrics. Follow Deb's advice...."make 'em and send 'em" :D

NCquilter 04-22-2012 08:33 PM

I sent a PM to sign up. Everyone made it look easy! I made a practice block and will post tomorrow.

Deb watkins 04-23-2012 04:03 AM

Yea!!! Hemmed in another one for the swap! NCquilter (Kelly) sent me a pm that she was joining - and get this, she has decided to do THREE sets!

This is from Deb's spring dresdan plate swap last year. I finally finished it. The quilting is very pretty but could not get a good close up of it. So everyone should join in for this swap because you will love your results you get. All these blocks were beautifully done and it is wonderful knowing that they came from all over the country.

Fraew 04-23-2012 07:55 PM

Beautiful QuilterMomma!

Oh! Thank you for posting this. It gives me great ideas for my Christmas dresdens!
