Dummy me wants to know , What is civil war fabric?

Here are the fabrics that I chose to show what fabric values will be used for Civil War theme. Carolyn, they are more muted colors, usually a darker value - with complimentary light prints. I have posted what I purchased to give a good example. Some of the bolts will specify Civil War prints, or Reproduction prints - Kansas Trouble, or Buggy Barn are some examples.

Oh... a little.... I am in LOVE with your fabric choices. I'm struggling to find time to work on my DearJane. But I have six weeks off school after Thursday so I have hope.

(I love cheddar's and plums. So don't be surprised if I do mine in those colors.)
