I want row I- block 2. I know, I did the same thing and had to figure it out that it said I- not 1! :)

sandpat 08-05-2009 05:20 AM

Thanks for posting the rimfire site! I am looking and thinking. If I'd get off here and sew, I might just have time to do these...I really want to Klue...its just a time issue for me!

its very hard to find large scale pics of the original jane - the official dear jane site seems to have the best pics.

the book doesn't really have better pics of the quilt block either - the book offers a scale line drawing of the block which you could use to make templates or to make a paper piece pattern.

Thanks for posting this site. The author of this site also redrafted several of the blocks in an attempt to more closely imitate what Jane
might have had in mind.

she also redrafted some because she didn't like the way the book drafted some of them.

i think its quite common that some blocks get redrafted by most people who do a jane.

i'm sure jane stickle made some design decisions based on what she had on hand and if she had access to everything that we do today this quilt would have been done differently.

i understand there's no real rush to decide since the delivery date is the end of october. the only downside to waiting to long to enter the swap is the easier blocks will be taken.

i think you'll find that the easy blocks go together very quickly. you'd be able to finish all 18 blocks in a few hours.

kluedesigns 08-05-2009 05:45 AM

here's the list so far....

Colletta = A6
Norbanaquilts = H13 and K12

Sharon B = M10
Rhonda = H6 and K3
Esqmommy = B3

I haven't ever done a swap before so this is a first for me! I have watched some of the other swaps so decided it looked like fun and this is one that is right up my alley. I know I can do this one easily.
Someone asked me awhile back if I had ever done one of these and I hadn't even seen one before.

Mamaskeeto 08-05-2009 05:59 AM

This sounds like way to much fun! I've been dying to dive into a dear Jane project and can't wait. I'll send a pm when I pick out my block.

I feel so giddy do this swap! :lol:
Klue, I'll take any direction you can give me for the M-12 block i'm doing. My local libraries don't carry the book.
Thanks

Rhonda 08-05-2009 07:04 AM

So are you doing any Klue or are you just heading up the swap?

Esqmommy 08-05-2009 07:06 AM

I'll betchya KLue is just being thoughtful to see what's left. She can probably whip out any of the blocks in her sleep!!! :) :)

Rhonda 08-05-2009 07:07 AM

I gotta admit some of those blocks are too complicated for me!! I might figure out a way to do them that I can manage if I took some time to study them. I did pick two that I do all the time anyway. That way I know I can handle them! I do alot of the Drunkard's Path and the other one is the same construction as the center of a trip around the world so I am in my comfort zone!! I know I know I should try something out of my comfort zone but maybe next time I will have more time to think about it!

bearpaw 08-05-2009 07:08 AM

Ok - I'm in! I'll let you know which block by the end of the day!

Esqmommy 08-05-2009 07:10 AM

I figured for this, I want to be IN my comfort zone, as I'll be out of it so much come January 2010 by recreating each and every one of these blocks for my lifetime achievement quilt, aka my Baby Jane.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

how would you feel about E1 its 4 pieces appliqued to a square or E10 which is 2 appliques to a 4 patch.

if you're really talented there's a way to make E1 the way you would make a cathedral window block (i've never done it i've only seen directions).

here's a pic of each block, let me know if you like any of them. if not i can show you some more options.

also send me a PM with your email address and i'll send you the templates.

i left 2 empty slots at the top left for my blocks and as other people join i'll just fill in the cream squares with blocks.

JRSAY 08-05-2009 11:03 AM

ok time to drool over fabric.

this is a Moda line called Christmas Presence by April Cornell

cutebuns 08-05-2009 01:28 PM

Okay I am drooling all over the fabric.

I am thinking about joining but will have to wait and see if my schedule can hold something else.

Bettia 08-05-2009 01:35 PM

I third it.
What a task it must be to head off, track and complete a swap.

WOW!~!

crkathleen 08-05-2009 01:53 PM

I'm afraid to pull my Christmas fabric out. I won't finish the quilt i'm working on. :lol:

Beautiful fab Klue!
