i like to pull my fabric early, that way i know if i need to buy anything and i just put it in the laundry room to wait until my next washing day.
i like to tie my fabric up in pillow cases and i just wash it with the rest of our linens. |
I too appreciate all your help and motivation on this. I LOVE the table runner pattern you've created. Ahem...are you going to post cutting and piecing instructions? looks simple but I'm such a horrible math person!!
I ordered by DJ software yesterday - how long does Joanne's take to get them out? I'm going to a Christmas fabric sneak peak friday night an LQS so I'll probably choose my fabrics then. I'll post after I pick them up. What, probably 1/2 yard of each (3) fabric per 18 block set? |
I have to go buy the fabric. Other than Christmas type, do you want it in theold fashion period or just any Christmas ?

with some of the jane blocks solids or super tiny prints work best. it doesn't have to scream christmas to work. i just happened to have the fabric i posted because last year one of my corporate accounts ordered a bunch of handbags made from that line. |
I'd like to do block F3 if it isn't taken.
Drooooooling over your fabric!!! :D |

Wow, 15 signups, not counting KLue, and not counting if some others choose to do 2 sets or more!! This'll be awesome!!
|
yes, you could actually end up with a throw if you do 2 sets and put in some fill in fabric like i did on the table runner.
|
OOOOOh, good idea!!
|
Ok I am really gonna jump in to this one and do a second set so J4 here I go!!

Klue - I have NOT committed to more than 1 yet LOL
|
I haven't either on paper but in my mind.....
|
yes, we're all plotting in our minds
|
Kleu,
Can you explain cutting directions for my block (M-12). For rotary cutting it shows 2" long and 1" wide. Basically 2" wide fabric? I've never followed directions before. haha Thanks |
since you sew by machine you can strip piece this to make all the same block.
i've attached a pic so you can see which section i'm talking about easier. cut 2 strips of the red fabric 1 inch by the width of the fabric cut 1 strip of the gold fabric 1 inch by the width of the fabric. now sew the 3 strips together with the gold fabric in the middle. now press the strip set. now you will cut the strip set every 2 inches - basically you're cutting 2 inch squares. you'll need 4 per block so 72 for all 18 blocks. from the green fabric you cut 2 inch squares you need 4 per block so 72 for all 18 blocks. once you have the pieces all cut out you can sew the rows (1,2,3) and then when you have all of those you can sew the 3 rows to each other to finish the block. when pressing the rows before sewing them to each other press the seams out on rows 1 & 3 and press the seams in on row 2. this way when go to sew the rows to each other the seams will nest with each other and help you match the seam lines. is it clear? do you have any questions? |

silly me forgot the pic
|
Thanx Bettia and everyone else
You are right Klue I decided to do a second so that I could do a throw. I think I would get more use out of that than a table runner  but wanted to join because of my curiosity with the dear jane. I wasn't worried so much about time but more with my skill, just don't want to dissapoint. :? Everyone does such beautiful work, I just want to be sure I can contribute my best. Haven't decided yet if I will keep or use as a gift, will have to wait to see my finished product  |
Oh forgot to ask about my material. I have several that i am looking at and one of my christmas prints has white in it along with gold and biege is this allowed?? or no bright white at all? Thanx
|
I have been following this thread and I so want to be included!
I figure if they don't need to be done right away....oh mark me down for C12. If all goes well I will get them done earlier then I think! I just have to get a couple other things done first! (Like my centers for IRR!!!) Kendra |

you should double check the white in your fabric i'm thinking its actually 1 shade above bright white like an eggshell. i thought the fabric i purchased for the Jan Jane was red & white and when i got it home and compared it to my kona white fabric i discovered its just 1 small shade darker than bright white. |

This sounds like it would be fun but i smoke, so I'll watch.

I'm going to have to get busy and sew my blocks - I was 'mind' sewing last night instead of sleeping LOL
