"A Fall Fantasy" Funky Swap...

"A FALL FANTASY" funky swap... sign up closes september 15th

This is a swap Fall inspired!! That means everything we love about fall! There are leaves, trees, birds, bittersweet, sunflowers, pumpkins and gourds, scarecrows, turkeys, pilgrims, apple carts, baskets of mums, school houses, thanksgiving or even halloween images, words, sayings, whatever reminds you fo fall!!

The sign-up will be for sets of 6 alike blocks. The limit will be 4 sets per swapper. The swap is now open to sign up for all levels of quilters.

PLEASE use ...100 percent good quality cotton fabrics... that are prewashed. No muslin or blends please. (I will retun those to the sender unswapped!) Many of us buy from quilt stores and pay good money for great fabric for these swaps. I understand that if you are using pre-cuts (jellyrolls, charm packs) may be impossible. Just write a small note and clip to each block to advise the reciever (s). Many fabrics shrink or dyes run... so please do this first step to make our projects something nice after washing and that we can be proud of.

Make your blocks before you sign up for this swap. This makes it easier on you to have them to me on time and takes the pressure off the deadline, so you can have fun making them. I am happy to have them come early to me. I have plastic bins for storaging them in my utility room.

The signups will close on september 15th and the blocks should be to me by the deadline October 1st, or unfortunantly they will have to be returned to you unswapped. Many swappers all make a point of getting thier blocks here on time or even early, so I can't hold them up. Please understand!!

I am happy for you to send them as early as you want. I have a nice big bin to store them until the swap date.

Please send me a pm to sign up for your block sets. I can miss any members trying to let me know they want to sign up on the board swap thread pretty easily.

The finished block size can be any size block divisible by threes. Don't forget the seam allowances!!

Please Note*** the smallest is a 6 inch finished block so the smallest will a 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 Unfinished and so on. (The size of a send- in block will have the half inch seam allowances included ) There hasn't been an interest to do the 3 1/2 inch squares, so we are eliminating them for this reason.

The sent in unfinished sizes can be , 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 , 6 1/2 x 9 1/2, 6 1/2 x 12 1/2 or 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 or 9 1/2 x 12 1/2, the same with the twelve inch sized blocks. The max sized block is 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" .

Please do not send just a cut piece of fabric as a block. It won't count towards your block sets and would have to be returned to you. Remember make something you would like to recieve! There are darling images out there with
fun fall images for our blocks!

* If you wish your blocks to have eyes (or whatever) that are not embroidered on while making the block, please put the beads or whatever the is the embellishment into a small envelope or baggie pinned onto the block. This is a request from past swappers because of the long-arm or machine quilting and breaking needles.

Attach your board name with a small slip of paper to each block with a pin or even staple it to the very edge within the seam allowance. Place the block sets of 6 into large plastic baggie marked with your board name. Some people have used the small sticky address return labels and it works great to stick them on the back side to identify each block. Just add your board name to it.

We will be using beige and light fall colored colored backgrounds that would show off your blocks. Like pale yellow, light coral, pale blue or green.

There are many images and blocks available on the web and magazines, or make something up on your own. Embroidery works too! Lets have some fun with this! Just remember, if you are doing applique, you must sew it to the blocks in such a way that it is washable later. You can't just iron it on. We want nice finished quilts... LOL!

*Mail your block sets to me in a priority flat rate envelope addressed to me using only a postage stamp (stamps) on both the return envelope addressed to you. There has been a problem with the post office accepting the pre-metered envelopes, and I would hate to have your envelope held up because of expired postage. So please use a stamp!

Place a self addressed flat rate priority return envelope with the postage stamp (s) attached addressed to yourself inside along with your bagged block sets.

* I will mail the swapped blocks back out to you by October 30th . Or before if all of the blocks come early! You know me girls, once they are here they are swapped and gone... LOL!

Should you have any questions or problems please contact me by pm. Any swapper can opt out if there is a problem with getting the blocks here on time. Life sometimes gets busy and I understand that. Please do not send them to me late. All of the blocks will be gone with nothing left but to send them back to you unswapped. That would be so sad for me and you!

Please read all the general swap rules of the board, these also apply to this swap. They are located on the top of the swap board written by the administration. Or, here is the link ...

:~)

This swap will end just in time to make a cute quilt or hanging for the season.

Also, It will be my last hosted swap here on the board for now. I love doing this for everyone and it is so very fun to see all of them first hand. But, it is time to get to some of my UFO's. LOL...

wanda lou 06-02-2012 08:52 PM

sounds great, I love Fall and halloween.

RedGarnet222 06-03-2012 08:09 AM

Great wanda lou! I am thinking it might be a good companion swap to go with the halloween swap blocks many of you are making too.
Last year some of my swappers asked for this swap specificly, so here it is!

So far I am going to make a pieced turkey and a pilgrim's hat. Have you thought of anything to make yet?

ljdugas31 06-03-2012 05:45 PM

sounds good! But sorry you won't be doing anymore you will be missed!!! I want to make pumkins, apples, maybe halloween.

HomespunHandmaiden 06-03-2012 08:21 PM

This sounds like so much fun! For personal reasons would it be possible if I participate to request that I don't receive any of the halloween specific-themed blocks...anything like witch stuff, jack-o lanterns...basically would it be possible for me to request only harvest/fall/thanksgiving-ish blocks?

Ms Grace 06-04-2012 05:06 AM

Oh my, all my favorites.....thinking.....thinking....thinking... ;)
should I or should I not sign up????

QuilterMomma 06-04-2012 07:42 AM

Oh you so want to Ms. Grace. If you do so will I, it will be down the road enough I can get my other swaps finished up and my UFOs widdled down some more.

Here ya on the UFOs Red. When doing the swaps, we get so enteretained in the swaps, but need to make the quilts. I still have three swaps sets from swaps you have hosted. They are my WIP when I get tired of the UFOs. I

I bet I could come up with some things for this swap, but will have to wait a little bit I will watch this thread and when able, make them up.

I can try my hardest not to have any of those go to you. I am not so sure that there will be any. But, that is all I can promise. OK? There just has to be enough swappers in the swap that I have a good choice while swapping them out, you see? So invite all your board buddies to join in the fun.

Like I said the subject was a requested swap by a few of the board members, so I hope everyone will go crazy and we have tons of great blocks!

RedGarnet222 06-04-2012 08:02 AM

Oh! Mrs Grace and quiltermomma, I would love to have you two in the swap! Please join the fun.

I have my turkeys cut out and will make them today. I LOVE working with these colors. It makes me smile alot.

I think my last blocks may be a squirrel and bittersweet branch? We will see what I can come up with. Maybe the word FALL like the love block.

Ms Grace 06-04-2012 08:30 AM

Quiltermomma,
Are you ready to join with me? You know we come as a pair!

Red,
are the halloween blocks going to be cute & kid friendly? We don't like skeletons,etc....

RedGarnet222 06-04-2012 03:55 PM

I only included the halloween subject on the swap because it is in the fall. I am pretty sure most people will be doing fall type blocks. I know I am.

I love fall and everything about it. The trees with colored leaves, the houses all decorated with wheat stacks and pumpkins, baking going on in the kitchen. Family gathering for all over the states. The carnavals at the schools, craft fairs. YOu know... like that.

You just know how to twist an arm Ms. Grace. I just love working with you. Since we come as a pair and Red would miss both of us if we did not join in, then I will have some fun as well and sign up for this swap. Fall has my favorite colors and is what my house is in. I am going to have to work on the blocks after the other committments. Good thing the deadline is a bit yet. I know I have fabric so will get on this by end of month hopefully.

Yes, I have lots of practice at arm twisting.;)
I love working with you too & I can't wait to see what we come up with for this swap.
I love the fall colors.
I have to finish my chicken blocks first, then I will start on these.
Let the fun begin....

QuilterMomma 06-05-2012 08:45 AM

Here is an idea, knowing you like chickens, how about a fall background with a chicken on it. Then you get the best of both worlds. That way you can work with both at the same time. Ok, my mind is on overtime.

Just keep moving forward :D

Lv2sew2011 06-05-2012 09:01 AM

Okie Dokie Sandy you twisted my arm...LOL Add me Looks like I have plenty of time to get them done...Lets start with 2 sets and then if I have time I will do more....

QuilterMomma 06-05-2012 09:19 AM

Donna, glad you can come join us. Yep, Red is doing the arm twisting....it's not me....I'm too sweet!:D

RedGarnet222 06-05-2012 11:02 AM

Oh I can just picture that! I am just a short squat old lady. I couldn't do that. LOL! But, I am so glad to see you on the fall thread donna! Yippee!

Lv2sew2011 06-05-2012 07:54 PM

I'm trying to hold off about doing more swaps for the time being (the key word being "trying"! LOL!), but I have a thought. Since there's a separate Halloween swap going already, why not make this swap fall-themed only, with no Halloween blocks? That way those who celebrate Halloween can join the Halloween swap, and those wanting just fall-themed blocks can join this one. And those who enjoy both, can join both swaps!

Just an idea I thought I'd toss out. :)

I've got a number of UFO's I'm trying to work on, too. I know all too well about doing so many swaps that there's not much time for anything else! :o Heck, I've got a pile of swap blocks that's over TWO FEET TALL that I *still* haven't done anything with. Isn't that pathetic? ;)

rwquilts 06-06-2012 05:32 AM

Red, I love your turkey! I'm pretty sure I have a similar pattern to yours. Love it!

Ms Grace 06-06-2012 05:38 AM

I've found all my designs this morning.
They are going to be great!

HomespunHandmaiden 06-06-2012 06:31 AM

Ok I think I'll join this one and probably the fun and funky chicken swap as well :) This is my first time swapping so I'm very excited! I think I'll do either do 2-3 sets I haven't decided yet for sure it depends on how many I end up making.:) I'm excited!!!

Hi moonrise!
I know what you are saying and I agree. I don't know why I mentioned the halloween except that it is in the fall. It really isn't taking priority on this swap. THis one is all about fall. We would love to have you if you are wanting some fun fall blocks and to join in the banter on the thread.

Hi rwquilts,
I bought this one from a gal on the board. It is a pattern and tool by elenore burns. Kinda fun to make really. LOL.. Thanks for the compliment :~) makes me smile...

QuilterMomma 06-06-2012 07:25 AM

There we all go twisting some more arms. The doctor bills are going to be high the next couple of months. We need to get out the sombra gel (icy hot) and do some application.

Red I think that turkey is so adorable.

Ms. Grace, wow, you are quick!

Ahh, Moonrise, you have a couple of months to get those other swaps sewn up while thinking of what to make for this one then you can join on in.

Woo Hoo Homespun!
Glad to have you for the swap. Have fun with your blocks and share with us if you can.

RedGarnet222 06-06-2012 07:29 AM

Ms Grace,

I am so excited you found all of your blocks! I started looking around and was so inspired! I cut out the squirrels yesterday. They are adorable if you ask me. I will show and tell as soon as I finish them up! Shopping today with my sis though. Have fun with your blocks!

QuilterMomma 06-06-2012 07:32 AM

Oh OH OH OH OH, I have to have a squirrel block or I am not playing!! They are one of my favorite parts of entertainment at my office. You just have to make me one. (Stamp foot hard and hands on hip with demanding pout lip)

Ms Grace 06-06-2012 07:35 AM

HA HA!!!
One of the blocks I'm am doing has a squirrel on it.

RedGarnet222 06-06-2012 07:38 AM

Great! I think squirrels are wonderful for this swap! I will make one just for you quiltermomma. Don't pout, gottsya covered! I cut out eight of them.
