Fat Quarter Swap : Valentines! Reds, Whites, Pinks, florals etc.
 

Good Day to everyone!

Starting the new year we will be doing a slightly different twist to the old Fat Quarter Swap! So pay attention and please read through!

We will be swapping FOUR fat quarters not five. This lowers the shipping costs and should make this reasonable for everyone to do. That should be more than enough fabric to make at least one wall hanging or a table runner as a gift and surely if you add it to something you have in your little stash you will find you can make something even bigger!

This month we are swapping: FOUR VALENTINES FAT QUARTERS. a FAT QUARTER MEASURED to be: 18 x 21
cut your fabrics accordingly please! so your partner is not upset by this. The colors we will be swapping this month are: REDS! PINKS! WHITES! CREAMS! HEARTS! VALENTINE DESIGNS! CHECKS PLAIDS! keeping with the color themes please. Florals of course can be added to these mix's.

One swap per person. You are free to include a Valentine for your partner :) and 1 small treat if you like but that is not a requirement. the fabric however is :)

You must send a PM to sign up including your board name, real name, address and a phone number you can be reached at in case your package is not sent/received. You must send me a confirmation when you send your item. Per board rules if you do not comply with the above you will risk being banned from other swaps. Be responsible and mail in a timely fashion. If you have a delay for any reason please let me and your partner know why. This is important so don't forget it!

Sign ups until January 8th at noon. Names will be given to you on January 8th. Mailing by January 15th at the latest. If you cant comply please do not sign up.

ANY COMPLAINTS ARE NOT TO BE POSTED ON THE BOARD. You are to write to me and let me know what the problem is/was and I will deal with it. If you do not comply with this you are not welcome to play again the following month. Everyone has feelings. No one will be singled out for a complaint in public here. Remember that. Be creative! be thoughtful! have fun! post pictures when you get your Valentine package. share the different varieties of Valentines Day that your partner interpret. It is amazing the variety you will see.

Count me in. Not much on Valentine theme, but reds, pinks etc. heck yes. I don't anticipate being in the hospital this year, enough is enough. So bring it on.

I would like to sign up also but I've been putting out too much in postage lately. I have to cut back for a month or two. It hurts when you live on a limited income. I'll be lurking on the sidelines to see what everyone received. Maybe next time I'll join in. :)

I've put a "no more ordering, buying fabric" moratorium on myself. I've got so much fabric as it is. I'm not one to make New Year's Resolutions, but this year I'm thinking that will be mine. And postage does really add up, too...

Klaws I get you too. Often I just have to watch the swaps. I am not in a position to do more so I get it completely. Now I ask for stamps for gifts. I kid you not! I would rather have them so I can do swaps and booms then gifts that sit on a table or bookshelf. Bring stamps on! lol. you might consider it you now its fun to still swap but why get presents when you can have.. STAMPS! lol.

This is why this swap is four fq quarters now not five. it might only save 50c but it means maybe someone can still play if you want to send more help yourself! but if you can only send four then do that its ok also. and Sewellie, the colors are inspired by Valentines but don't have to be Valentines :) just a launching point you see. and florals? who doesn't have a couple of those in the pile somewhere?

I am hoping you join on in and have some Fat quarter fun here. You can make so many things with these a table mat! or mug rugs! or wall hangings just to name a few. You can also use them to finish other quilts so surely you need these!! sign on up and get in on the fun! or join us for chatter we do this regularly here and its always creative and fun to chat back with. There are no groups of us who don't include others! we include EVERYONE! so looking for your PMS (hint hint) to those who are new and to old sign ups. I do NOT save your mailing address as its not a place I want to keep open for long on the internet. I get them, I assign you partners. you send I remove your name. Its safe as safe can be for this swap. The internet is interesting at best lol. I love it I am scared of it :) so I will do my best to insure your good to go here.

What are you thinking you might make for Valentines Day? any cards or pin cushions or ... hearts for a bowl filler? those are adorable! I love the thought of a bowl of hearts! I always send my children a card but maybe just maybe I will make mine this year! mug rugs would be cute to include in their envelope. hey an idea!

ok no one is making valentines things. I am amazed. quilters not making a little treat? really? I am so shocked! I am baking cookies for my sweetpea. He loves peanut butter with chocolate kisses in the middle. both of his favorite foods lol. I have to finish his lap quilt for sitting in his rocking chair. tis going to be a cold winter I think. Its always a cold winter here in Wyoming I am positive. I say that with conviction because well I have lived here over a year now. lol Jaba is the expert on this. She has lived her forever! I don't know how she survived it. its COLD. that is the California girl talking in here now. yup. its ok however. my secret weapon? I am in side the house. tada! not going out for two days. ok just for a bit today praying its before the storm wanders in. then it will get really fresh. like about 10 below .. I would love to stay in til its over! see you in June? nah that doesn't work.

ok we need sign ups! there are very few which is fine but its a lot more fun with more sign ups. Is everyone sick of fat quarters? next month should we do something else? like a different cut of fabric? a set of something? a yard? what would you like to see swapped here on the quilting board? I am loving doing the mug rug swaps seeing the imaginative and creative mug rugs has been so very fun. I am open to all new and exciting ideas so SEND ME A PM and make a suggestion on line also. both places surely I will see it in one of them. and kibitz on the thoughts on the ideas posted so I know what has a general appeal. These swaps are all about you. About having fun and making friends.

Going to cut mine today and be ready to mail. I'm making Valentine things, just finished a set of mug rugs, a new mini wall hanging, pin cushions and needlecases. That was my sewing for the weekend. Waiting for these new FQ's now to make a table runner too. I love Valentine's Day!

I love Valentines day too.. its such a happy time. the décor who wouldn't love things like Jaba just whipped up. darn she makes me tired with all she can fit into two days. she is that good :) I remember back when we gave out valentines as a little kid. Oh I would look forward to that and spend forever deciding which valentine went to which person. I always bought the kind with sprinkles on them. Ok glitter I called them sprinkles. I thought they were so very pretty. Now I buy a few vintage valentines and put them out each holiday. they are so very special. My mom was not very.. sweet. But she gave me cards with "sprinkles" on them for all holidays and when I as sick. I think that is where my love for sparkly things came from. lol. We always decorated big time for each coming holiday. She allowed us to put our artwork on the windows (big old 8 foot windows in the living room four of them) and we would spend a tremendous amount of time picking our favorites to hang. You can guess what mine had on them each and every time.. lol. GLITTER central. the more sparklier the better lol. so if you want to make me happy? sparkly cards or fabric with gilt on it. sucker!! every time :)

sign ups are coming in slowly should have quiet a few by the 8th. should I shorten that mail time? should I say the 3rd for closing? you see I am truly trying to please all of you so let me know. its not "my swap" its yours. its all about fabric its all about sharing and of course all about making friends. I am so lucky to have so many of you as friends. you are my strength when at times its hard to be tough. Today? I am tough lol. talk to me later today I will wiped. funny how that is :) taking down a bit of Christmas today. just one box full. that is a chore. also going to try to cut three blocks today. that will be a challenge of the day!

Well, I just have to try something different, so I am In for this swap, too. I can use this fabric for a mug rug. My daughter wants a set of them ,6-8, and since her birthday is coming, I will see that she gets them.

Sent my PM to Brat, I really do like the FQ swap because I get material I probably would not see in my area. I also understand about the postage costs. I too have been spending way too much in the last couple of months on postage so I will be cutting back on some of the swaps.

I have been so sick, (don't have to tell you that, Linda), maybe this swap will make me feel better. I do have mine packaged however =- just waiting for my name to send to. Maybe I will feel like sewing later this week. Didn't even get Christmas gifts made. (Sigh!)

Brat mentioned ideas for something besides fqs, or some different themes. She mentioned maybe an "ugly" fq swap.. sounds like fun to me. We did an ugly fq swap at my lqs at our Christmas party.
What's funny is everyone's definition of ugly is very different (of course). We all ended up with fabrics each of us thought were very "un ugly"...haha..

She also mentioned bringing back the table runner/ topper swap...

I think that sounds fun. I agree one woman's ugly is another woman's treasure. Sometimes I even wonder what was I thinking when I bought certain materials.

You guys are too funny. I will do an ugly swap next month instead of a fat quarter swap. I think we need to break it up a bit the variety of swaps we do. I loved the table runner swap we did. lots of pretty runners were shared. maybe I will do one of those too. lol. swap swap swap. I am doing a mug rug swap for valentines this month and sign ups are going like crazy! over 40 so far. wow. who would have thought so many people would enjoy swapping those! not I! thought maybe half as many would like that swap. I was wrong :)

Sewellie one day at a time is the old saying. its just hard doing those days. I go for an angio something next Monday then surgery will be a week or two after. Oh joy. that will take out my right leg and my left arm for a month. I am so excited. I thought I was a gimp before. I was wrong lol. I think I will be the biggest form of gimp I have had to deal with. this is going to be a blast.

I need to get ready for clinic but hope your picking out your pretty fabrics now! take a picture if you can in case your partner cant post a photo. we had a lot of thank yous last month but not a lot of photos so hoping for more this month. it is such a fun part of swapping. seeing what else is out there is always a kick!

Glad I rememberd to sign up. I got some fun pinks today. I like gray with pink so I got that too. I didn't know, because I just now saw that the rules had changed. Grey is not in the color criteria so whoever I get might let me know if you like grey. Or maybe I'll post a pic in the am. I also bought to much fabric. Didn't know the number had changed. Dang:D

Gray is a fabulous color! Back a long long time ago my wedding reception colors were gray,peach,and white. My dad told me gray was such a depressing color to have in there, but I think they look good together. Just it was different from everything back then. Now you see a lot of black at wedding receptions so I don't really see how that is much different. Oh well point is gray is a great color including with pink. Yah I got too many FQ ready too. That's ok I can send extra

I'd love grey! I just bought swirly heart and scrolls in grey/black and the same in red/black. It is stunning material. Got some pink, too. This will be a fun swap!

Kiffie, I LOVE the stamps fabric! (And the modern hearts is also very cool!) All are great choices. When I get home, I'll try to post my pix too.

now onto the ugly swap I did see one fabric that I thought was OMG the ugliest fabric I had ever seen on the swap done here on the quilting board. it was this wrestling fabric. big giant pictures of wrestlers on it. OMG. then .. someone said "oh I would LOVE that fabric" and I was so glad I had kept my mouth shut. the old saying their is a rear for every chair came to mind and I knew right then and there it was true. What one person does not love at all another can come by and say OMG that I so great! so we will swap one yard of ugly fabric for Feb so you can start looking for the one you hate the most. and even side swaps on that!

KIffie thought you were cutting back on swapping lol knew better. just knew it! I am doing a simple side swap with four people for blocks. thought heck four people not hard at all. til I find we have voted (not my vote mind you) on doing three blocks for each person. oh heck. that is a BOOM! lol. and I signed up for a boom. try that with one leg and arm. I can hardly wait! its going to be a fun month for the Brat here.

today its a balmy negative 22 hoping it warms up quick. I am indoors of course but its seeping through those little uninsulated windows. argh! down blanket is my best friend :) but gotta get up sometime. so best start moving.. ugh! lol.

So excited, all the colors are awesome, gray sounds very nice. I do not have one piece of gray, or even a scrap. :) Poor me :( hahahaha
