FEB. F4 SWAP! St. Patrick's Day and Green fat quarters! Closes Feb 2nd

FEB. Fat Quarter Swap! St. Patrick's Day and Greens!

Description: This will be a monthly swap. You will sign up each month and you can choose each month whether or not to participate. You will be given a random person to swap with and that person will change each month. This is a secret pal swap.

Each month there will be a different theme or color that we will swap. There is a limit of two swaps per person.
**Each person will swap 5 fat quarters that go with the theme or color of the month.
**FQ's can be purchased or can be from your stash but they must be 100% cotton and they must measure 18 x 22 inches (standard FQ).
**They should be 5 DIFFERENT FQ's. but coordinating fabrics are never a bad choice!

For the month of Feb. we will be doing a St. Patrick's Day and Green theme. While these are traditional St Patrick's Day colors you do not have to use St. Patrick's day fabric. There are hundreds of marvelous shades of green to chose from. please make sure if you chose a patterned fabric that GREEN is predominant not some tiny little leaf in the corner so you partner gets a good selection of fabric that the eye registers as mostly green.

This month we are working on a regular turn around. I will give you your ship to names by the 4th. I would ask you have them mailed within 5 days of receiving them. GET your packages ready to mail prior to receiving your names please. I don't want any hurt feelings or sad people because they did not receive but they were good enough to send. If there is trouble this month I will go to partners next month. It would be tons easier so if you want to keep this a secret pal type of swap then please be responsible.

Participants are required to PM me when they have received their FQ's and are required to post a PM thanking the sender. You don't need to let me know you have mailed.

*When you send your FQ's please be sure to include your board/screen name so that people know whom to thank.

If you would like to participate please PM me with: your board name, full name and address and the number of sets you would like to do. Two set limit.

Please see the rules for all board swaps and PM me with any questions. This swap has been approved by the admin.

Sending you my PM- love green especially emerald green but not olive green. Yay!

purplecat 01-26-2014 09:11 AM

I'm sending my PM. I haven't played since October when I never received any fat quarters from my swap person. I hope she's not allowed to play any more (I don't know who it was). Hoping things go better for February.

Pattia 01-26-2014 09:34 AM

So sorry that happened to you- if I would have known I would have been happy to send you some. Hope it doesn't happen again-that's no fun!

Elisabrat 01-26-2014 12:10 PM

So sorry you didn't receive in past swaps. Unfortunately since I didn't run them I have no idea who was to send to whom. I do check for bad feedback before you allowed to play and will leave it if you do not fulfill your obligation. So future swaps should be clear missing fat quarters. I am putting trust in all of you to sign up and send! so glad to have you back and will work hard at following up on any future missing fat quarters :)

The greens are so very versatile even if you do not do a holiday theme they tend to be used often in so many things from table runners to wall hangings :) or if you do boom blocks and your needing a bigger variety of greens to mix things up a bit (always just missing that one shade that matches aren't you?) Today the snow is blustering about Wyoming. Its not laying down a ton but the wind sure is swirling it in clouds like crazy! the side walk is covered yet its just from blowing from left to right and back again :)

jaba 01-26-2014 12:34 PM

in for 2 brat, sending my info. Greens and the luck of the irish...perfect

letsquilt 01-26-2014 02:58 PM

In for two Brat, any color of green just not real crazy about St Pats fabrics.

Elisabrat 01-27-2014 06:21 AM

I hope to see lots of you return for sign ups! this is a great swap.. those who don't will be GREEN with envy I am sure when they see all the beautiful selections.. grass green, leaf green, sage green, moss green, batik greens, checkered greens, spotted greens.. shamrocks and cactus .. oh the choices you can make.. FROGS! what about frogs? tropical birds lots of greens in some of those! green trees! see you have more than you thought in your little bag of tricks so play along and see what hops your way!

lauriejo 01-27-2014 06:28 AM

I am so ready for some green. I am getting very tired of all the gray, brown and white I see out my window. Sending you a PM for two sets.

bela2 01-27-2014 06:42 AM

bjsmith57 01-27-2014 12:08 PM

I sent you a PM.

Thank you.

sustraley 01-27-2014 03:25 PM

Sent a PM this morning. This afternoon, I have them in envelopes ready to send.

Elisabrat 01-27-2014 08:34 PM

ah My Irish Eyes are smiling! (we are all Irish on St. Patricks day surely its written as a law somewhere..). Some fine sign ups we have already! Spring green keeps coming to mind. I know Kelly green is the correct color verbiage when one thinks of St. Patricks day.. but I see that grass that was on the school lawn.. the sun high overhead.. the new shoots coming up .. looking for lady bugs (lucky ladies) and seeing all the bright green grass underneath me. Yuppers spring green it is.

St. Patricks day fun fact: Pigs. Ever look at vintage items such as post cards? Lots of them have horse shoes but many more have PIGS on them. Reason being the famine. If you had a pig you were RICH. so pigs are lucky indeed!

Beckit103103 01-28-2014 05:02 PM

Ok, I'm in!!
I will PM you.

jaba 01-28-2014 06:08 PM

Got mine cut and ready to send, just need names. Brand new year and a brand new hostess, starting all over ladies or at least that's how I look at it.. What happened before is not brat's responsibility nor does she have any pairings from the previous swaps. Let's all start over.....okay I was nice, I'm really ready for my names!!

Elisabrat 01-28-2014 08:12 PM

Gracias Jan :) This is going to be as fun as it used to be in the past. People will play nicely and the fabric selections will be wonderfully vast and exciting so of course everyone will want in on the best swapperoo on the whole board (I said it so it must be true right? lol).

I can't wait to see what you all pull out of your fabric box's for this one! or dread you might have to go to the quilt store.. horrors! but being good quilters you trudge along all the way into that store only to find.. its not so horrible after all! who doesn't love at least window shopping in the quilt store? I find my eye goes everywhere all at once. My only wish is that I could take it all in .. ours is a very crowded overfilled store with fabrics quilts, patterns literally all over .. its a trip zone in there .. so I have to watch my feet and can never really see everything. a tiny bit a time I figure.. plus its not truly a massive hardship walking in there and exploring a new area. nope not at all :)

yonnikka 01-29-2014 09:19 AM

Okay, I've decided: I'm in. I'll PM Elisabrat. I have been collecting Saint Paddy Greens for awhile now, so you will see some slightly vintage prints; I want to add one that is decidedly yellow, would anyone object? I welcome comments from the group. Whoever gets it will be thrilled, I am sure. I'm thinking to join for 2 swaps.

Photo attachment: "Patch o' Green" a little quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I'm submitting a photo, one of my little quilts from 2006. There is also a nice Greens quilt named "Irish Mist" that you can find on QB by searching for the name. I hope to see some other photos here, of either your green quilts, or your green fabrics. I'm really looking forward to this swap, ladies.

Jvan228 01-29-2014 11:47 AM

Oooh, Aaaah, I love that Patch of Green. Very pretty.

yonnikka 01-29-2014 12:30 PM

A feast for ye eyes: greens alive on my Split Leaf Philodendron

1 Attachment(s)
I'm posting the photo I just now snapped: my Split Leaf Philodendron--jungle size. Why? Because my houseplants, and garden flowers and wild growing things are my constant source of *IN*Spire*ation***. They teach me the colors of God's world; the nuances of shapes and forms, and the everchanging flow of Nature's Way. I am not to be without these, my quilting and crafts are all the better for their sweet nondemanding Presence in my life.

Rules say it needs to be decidedly green. When I have a fabric that I really want to include I just send 6 FQ's instead of 5. I usually always send 6 anyway, just as a little treat, like some people add a candy bar or a notepad.....I add a FQ

Elisabrat 01-29-2014 09:58 PM

Yonnika it appears your an artist at heart :) I bet you come up with some crazy things! I used to go into the yard and sit quietly in a chair and challenge myself to find as many .. greens as I could or browns and I would get so relaxed but amazed at how many shades there were. The garden was a hundred different colors.. and it inspires me still finding the colors in nature. I say quilting is painting with fabric.

I am wondering as we are getting sign ups if your NOT going to sign up could you let me know why? I am starting fresh here so I am open to suggestions on how to make this a better swap. I understand sometimes life happens and you get sick or there are other troubles and sending can be delayed. The key to not upsetting the recipient is letting me know so I can let them know. We can also in future swaps go to partners.. you know who is supposed to send to you and vice versa. I personally think this keeps failure to send to an absolute minimum. no secrets .. but if you prefer me to continue as secret partners then I need to hear this too.. suggestion central! send a PM with any ideas on this to me asap! I want people to come back to this swap. Tell your pals. It will be run like a tight ship lol or ok a taunt quilt!

Elisabrat 01-30-2014 05:32 AM

helpful hint : Swappers want fabric that is a FULL fat quarter. Some in the past have not been quite large enough. Measure twice. Nobody minds a lrger piece but too small is not good!

hint #2 : Send quilt quality fabric. Send what you would truly love to receive. This will make everyone happy. Homespuns are to be used as bonus fabric only. I know a couple of you like them but they are best left to private swaps

lots of sign ups!!

Grandma Di 01-30-2014 09:05 AM

Well it took me long enough to decide. I want to join in on this. I will send my PM in just a minute.

Elisabrat 01-30-2014 10:56 AM

one swapper would love homespuns.. so if anyone wants to do a swap with these let me know.. I cant take a lot of special requests mind you but since I just posted don't send them.. now I have someone who loves them! go figure!

we are up to twenty swappers with almost 40 swaps between everyone! yahoooo! I hope and pray that you take a picture of what you send. This way if your secret pal doesn't have a camera we still get to see them. Make sure you let them know if you cant take one also.. so they will try to post the pictures. Everyone sees something that they would love to have so if you know the manufacturer why not put a note next to the fat quarter saying this one is.. so they can order some of it if its still available. I always pine for a couple I see each and every month.. I get a mental I need that one and this one list going.. its fun and sometimes seeing a fabric you might have over looked before next to another that makes it stand out.. well its eye opening. And Jaba we look forward to your calendar blocks each month. I think your going to end up with an amazing quilt!

Elisabrat 01-31-2014 06:47 AM

Yonikka your yellow is ST. Patricks Day (I have that one too and love it!). So that is totally fine to send as one of your fabrics and what a lovely selection of shamrocks you have. I think your partner is going to fall in love with her treats! I know I would.

I have gotten so far as to making two lists last night of the swaps. I will happily ADD to it if you want to sign up today :) so tomorrow maybe I can get some names and addresses out and the party can thus begin! yahoo!!! Lots of swappers!!!

Pattia 02-01-2014 08:38 AM

I am wondering as we are getting sign ups if your NOT going to sign up could you let me know why?

Just more info as requested Linda, I am not able to participate in this one for several reasons, none your fault for picking colours.
-time and money- class has started up again and mailing from Canada is $$
-not enough greens in my stash, and no time for a trip to the quilt store where we do pay a lot more for FQ's as well.
-don't want to offend anyone with this comment, but I don't want to run the risk of St. Paddy's day fabric back. I won't use it at all, sorry, just not my thing.

I have no one else to swap with, so I would end up with something hanging out in my stash I won't use.
Hey, that gives me an idea, one month, can we have a freeform exchange? Say when we get our partners, we say I like brights/ homespun/ modern/vintage/30's and exchange with pieces not using in our stash?
sort of surprise package?

just a thought. rambling on today as I have not had my tea yet. lol
