Yes you can, bud's. Watch this video:

It made it so easy, that I've started a flannel quilt with trapunto flowers and it is easy-peasy!! If I can do it, you can too!!

That was a great video...is that what a 3d quilt is???? Swimmer Girl

Janstar 01-23-2010 08:05 PM

That's very pretty and a great tute.

amma 01-24-2010 11:05 AM

I does give the pansy a 3D effect and this is one version of a 3D quilt :D:D:D

sandpat 01-24-2010 04:21 PM

I love that technique amma....she is right, it is fun. I've never done the thread painting in just that way, but I will for sure in the future!

I got mine cut out today.
Can't wait to see who my partner will be. :D

Chele 01-25-2010 01:49 PM

66 swappers so far Rhonda. Hopefully I didn't leave anyone off the new list thingy: http://www.quiltingboard.com/group_a...jsp?gracnum=21

If we don't get any new swappers in the next day or so, I'll go ahead and assign partners.

STAR 01-25-2010 02:00 PM

CHELE- can i stay in the states this time, thanx

Chele 01-25-2010 02:30 PM

Welcome ladygen. Always nice to have new faces! Yep, STAR, I had you down for US only. Any more victims? It's really fun...

ladygen 01-25-2010 02:31 PM

Any pattern is okay, right? I'm pretty intimidated by minis, but I've really been wanting to do one!

Chele 01-25-2010 02:35 PM

Any pattern (or no pattern!) is hunky dory! No intimidation here, missy! Just have fun!

sandpat 01-25-2010 03:55 PM

Chele...I like the new group activity list, don't you??? I think it will make it really easy. Can't wait to get partners...I actually worked on mine today  ...no...not my partner...my little quilt, silly!

STAR 01-25-2010 07:07 PM

What intimidates you Ladygen? You can make it anything you are comfortable with. Any style or look is fine. We have alot of differant types of quilting and lots of differant levels of skill. We love them all!

ladygen 01-25-2010 07:27 PM

I've been looking at pictures since I posted that... Mini quilts, mini patterns, mini pieces... But I realized I can just make smaller blocks, not teeny-tiny ones! Not so intimidated anymore... Now I'm really excited!

Rhonda 01-25-2010 07:29 PM

Glad to hear it! These DQs are sooo much fun! I know you will enjoy the swap!! Glad you took the plunge!! LOL

I am glad you are not intimidated anymore! My thought was this would be an easier swap for me to do being a beginner since it would be a smaller peice!

jan10 01-25-2010 08:58 PM

LOL I see how you are Terri! You put me on hold!! LOL I am working on yours. I finally have settled on the final design. Hope you like it! It won't be tiny piecing this time tho.

tlrnhi 01-25-2010 09:15 PM

No Rhonda, you aren't on hold.
I actually have it finished, but I'm putting more to it.
Just NOT liking it the way it is. lol

Rhonda 01-25-2010 09:19 PM

That's ok Terri I am always juggling projects and time.I was just kidding anyway. I can't wait to see what you made for me!! I am sure it is great! We are our worst critics.

Rhonda 01-25-2010 09:26 PM

If anyone is looking for inspiration take a look at the threads in the Miniature Quilts Virtual section.

Butterflywing just posted a great miniature site that has lots of inspirational ideas. I added it to the Minis VS.

I'm just hoping it comes out the way I am hoping it to come out. It's an afterthought. Quilt is all done, but just not liking how it looks. Hate when that happens.
Machine is diligently working on the label at the moment....

sandpat 01-26-2010 06:19 AM

Yeah...all you newbies!!! You will love this swap, its a great opportunity to try out all those "new" things you've been wanting to try. Thats what I do...and its great!! Welcome to the swap!!

Alu_Rathbone 01-26-2010 06:35 AM

lol... my "new" thing is applying a binding! lol

sandpat 01-26-2010 06:44 AM

Whatever "works" for you   and hey...if its "new" to you...its a good time to try it out!

Rhonda 01-26-2010 10:09 AM

I haven't been brave enough to try anything new yet! I'll have to think about trying paper piecing in a future one I guess!! Never tried it yet. But this one I already have planned so not this month!

tslowery 01-26-2010 10:51 AM

I want to play to......PLEASE ADD ME ....

carrieg 01-26-2010 01:27 PM

OK...you all are having too much fun here. Sign me up!

DH has had 2 surgeries since June and I need motivation to get back into the sewing room. This will be a good reason! I'll ship anywhere.

Quilt Mom 01-27-2010 04:02 AM

There's a link at the bottom of the home page. Click on the February Doll quilt swap, and there is a list of everyone signed up for the swap. At this time, ReRe, your name is just below mine. So you are in!

krazy4quilts 01-27-2010 06:46 AM

Heads up here, we are in for a storm this week and it is highly possible we will lose power due to to much freezing rain and sleet on the power lines. Last time it was 8 days before they got us power. We do have a generator but not sure we will put the computer on it. I hope so I'd go bonkers with out my internet. I will call my friend Sheila if I cant get on the net and get who my partner is. Oh for sure the sewing machine will be on the generator, they dont want me on a killing spree. I will check in as soon as I can. BTW Sheila is Panther Creek Quilting on here.
