Krystyna how exciting ...... I will be out to get my copy tomorrow .... I'm sitting out this month .... but I'm watching you guys .... have fun ....

Well tim Tams sold their recipe to Pepperidge Farm so we can buy them here now. So glad to see you go yuk on vegimite. My granddaughter loves it. Daddy started her on it as an infant. But her brother who is 2 years younger just went over to the dark side and likes Vegemite now. Poor Mally......my daughter and I are holding out for him to stay on the light side with us. You can join us seeing you said YUK.

Good morning ladies. I need two angel quilts. Please PM me if you can help out.
Thank you!

AlaskaAlice 02-06-2013 01:02 PM

What do you mean? (Angel quilts)? big, little, etc.? I have an extra DQ.. Alice..

Krystyna 02-06-2013 01:12 PM

Alice, an Angel Quilt is when someone (also known as an Angel) steps in to send a quilt to someone who didn't receive one from their partner. And that can be from months ago! Sometimes life interferes with doll quilts but I always ask the person to let me know so I can get someone to step in. In my own case life interfered with getting my November doll quilt out due to Hurricane Sandy -- but I my partner was understanding and I have the pieces here to quilt for her. Although since it was a Thanksgiving theme she'll have to save it for some months before using it ... so she will get two from me.

So, in short, an angel quilt is one that is sent by someone to another member who didn't receive one.

AlaskaAlice 02-07-2013 01:25 PM

Krystyna, How great! I might be able to send one..or two ..if I know what the themes that are needed I can make some. so.I have to add the label and send one to cuppy and I made some samle blocks (little versions of blocks for bigger quilts . I am using to make so more.:) I have found they (DQs)are a great size for placemats and mouse pads.. Let me know if someone would like one. This is fun! Alice

Krystyna 02-07-2013 01:32 PM

Waiting to hear from the person who should receive them. So don't start stitching yet! But it's always nice to have one on hand ...

YIKES! Bracing for another storm in these parts! Glad we're not in Long Beach as they are predicting more flooding! All my oil lamps are at the house, so gotta run out to get some candles ... and how will I sew????

Linny 02-07-2013 02:54 PM

Took advantage of having transportation today....mailed DQ's to both my partners, Krisb and Handi......they're on there way ladies, and I'll be tracking them.

Difergie 02-07-2013 02:58 PM

Mailed mine to Megan today also.

My gosh, stay safe Krystyna. You might have to rethink your new house and opt for a big houseboat or something similar.

urgodschild2 02-08-2013 08:16 AM

A boat house sounds wonderful but can you just see it if another "Sandy" comes along. You could be floating into times square.

Krystyna 02-08-2013 08:34 AM

Houseboat? No thanks! Actually about 15 years ago we had a big storm and it blew a rickety old houseboat close to the bulkhead on the bay. My son and a friend captured it, tied it up and put in a claim with the bay constable ... if no one claimed it, they'd get it! Well, sad to say they condemned it as unsafe. Probably a good thing in the long run.

TammyB 02-08-2013 02:15 PM

Thinking of everyone who's bracing for (or by this time in it) the storm in the northeast part of the country. Batten down the hatches and stay safe!

The snow wasn't bad here at all, although there are news reports of much higher snow out east and to the north. My sister in Smithtown got 25". Lots of reports of people stuck in their cars on the highways.

Here's the view from my bedroom window of the courtyard. The little building to the right in the second photo is the trash house and the tan thing to the right of the big tree is the infamous mailbox bank.

Hoping everyone is safe and sound. A good day to quilt!!!

urgodschild2 02-09-2013 08:52 AM

Quess you all were lucky. My friends in Mass. have almost buried cars.
WEll sorry to say but here in So. Cal it is a beautiful sunny day. Saying that I will still quilt. One of the things about living back east (when I did a few years ago) is that you really appreciated spring and then summer. The minute that weather got a little warmer and the sun would shine all day.......everyone was outdoors...soaking in every minute. In CA....we get to choose.
I have finished my DQ but I am hanging on to it to show my quilt class on Tuesday.

978gray 02-09-2013 11:03 AM

Here in Eastern Mass I survived the storm, although still snowing. We have over 2 feet on the ground and it is still snowing. I am lucky in that we still have power, although in Mass over 400,000 customers are without power. The beach communities are taking it hard.

Now to dig out. Driving Banned will be lifted at 4:00pm.

978gray 02-09-2013 02:36 PM

Finished my little doll quilt today. Now off to mail it on Monday!

Now time to shovel!!

JuanitaBean 02-09-2013 03:34 PM

Just Mailed my DQ to Cuppy!! Wanted to include some little things but I was not sure how the mail would work out so I picked up mailer boxes and next time I mail something I will try them..I hope the DQs get to their new homes ok.. I had put them in zip loc bags but at the PO the attendant took them out of the bags. to make them go into flat envelopes. so I do hope they are ok when they arrive:o!!

Linny 02-12-2013 05:19 PM

Checked my tracking numbers for my partners Krisb and Handi, and it shows they have been delivered...yeah!...not able to post pics, so if you guys can it would be greatly appreciated.....hope you like them.....going to be putting together some larger stripey quilts...like the fresh look of them.

Got my ADORABLE doll quilt from NannaKathy55 Thank you soooo much!!!! Loved the quotes on the back.

urgodschild2 02-13-2013 07:56 AM

I have a question that maybe Kyrstyna can fix or anyone else. A member notified me that my PM to her came as unapproved message. Now in Sept., my DQ partner was PMing me and her messages suddenly came to me as unapproved. Had no clue why back then. There was nothing bad in the message or anything like that. I contacted the admin. on this site and never got a response back. I have tried to delete the message and I can't do it. It is still there. I just want to clear it. Now I have had a member notify me that my PM to her came to her as unapproved. What is up with that and why is it doing that. ANyone??????

Ok. I have finished my doll quilt and shown it off to my Quilt Class. It will be going home to it's owner very soon.

buslady 02-13-2013 08:09 AM

I am sooooo sew far behind on my reading. Work has been crazy, with all the "weather" we have had. Buses go in bad weather, most of the time. And it is I that has to make a decision. So, I am wrong no matter what I decide. LOL!! Anyway, Hearthhush, I have to DQ done. And I love it. So does everyone I show it to. I am going to have to make a big one for me. Add that to my bucket list. I better live a long time after I retire! LOL I will be mailing it either today or tomorrow. Can't wait to see what you think. I hope to find time later to actually read the 6 or 7 pages of this thread that I skipped over to make this post. Love looking at the treats.

I sent off the DQs to Tam-Moo and Tulip. Very different from what I usually do, but a lot of fun.

GirlLivingForJesus 02-13-2013 03:03 PM

Either one is good. I think most use a thin batting, but I guess fleece would work, too.

GirlLivingForJesus 02-13-2013 06:09 PM

Thanks Krystyna! I think I'll just my regular ole batting. I really like it now that I've got it together! Those strips pieces had me to pieces there for a minute LOL

Elisabrat 02-14-2013 05:42 AM

Well just popped in to see how your stripes and all were coming this month. Love that purple teacup one! take me home it says. I was trying to invision all the stripes up down sideways and couldnt see how that would work. DUH seeing the stripes on the end made me realize I was seeing things to literally and there were other ways around that. should have joined!

Here I go on a goofy side. I was at equilter and they had this calendar for sale. Its called men quilts and spicy burritos. random at best. they arent wearing shirts. they are hunks. and what drugs was the person or group of women on who sat around and came up with THAT idea.. they are all posed quilts draped over laps shoulders hot stomach muscles and a arm outstretched holding.. a burrito. You tell me: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc...13369253.17 here I sat there thinking the quilt patterns were really nice and look at that burrito! wowsa. um ah..lovely. Nancia and I are going to have a drool over your margarita while we enjoy each months..quilt. and burrito. check out the link in case you think I am on medications and seriously I was just looking at fabric when I found that beauty.

On a happy smiley note:
