Mrsj82, Here is the second row on yours. Hopefully the colors show up right. I couldn't get it all in one picture, so there's two showing each end. Hope you like it. I'll get it in the mail early next week.

LoriJ 02-15-2009 07:10 AM

2Doods, that is awesome! I can't wait to see it in person!
Lori

mgrhs 02-15-2009 12:45 PM

babeegirl...I never did get the label in the mail did you sent it? I went to the fabric store today and got some material to finish your second row.

Margie 02-15-2009 01:01 PM

On MrsJ82's quilt are the only colors to be (looks to me) blue and green..with touch of yellow or is it my puter that makes it look that way? Sure looks as though you managed to match them exactly. How did you do that? I am worried I wont be able to match them as well.

Margie

2 Doods 02-15-2009 01:40 PM

mrsj82 02-15-2009 02:11 PM

*GASP* That is so beautiful!!!!!!!! I cannot even believe it! I love it!!! You did a great job! I can't stop looking at it!

And I honestly don't mind any other colors, I'd just like to have some blue and green in the quilt. You don't have to match it, I'd just like to have a little forest green in it as that's the color of my bedroom.

quiltwoman 02-15-2009 02:18 PM

They are all so wonderful! You are all doing a fantastic job. Can't wait to see more.

Margie 02-15-2009 10:18 PM

well, I finally finished Lori's row. I made several blocks that were rejects, tore out and redid some blocks..couldnt get the row to line up and took it apart and attempted to fix six times........but it is done. I will post pics tomorrow. Right now I am too depressed. I really tried hard, but the more pics I see here, the more I realize I am in NO WAY IN THE SAME LEAGUE. I do try hard anyway. I hope it is acceptable...I really dont know what to do except send it on at this point.

Posting pics in am.

Margie I am however...an expert with wonky blocks!!

I wouldn't worry about it Margie, I just took the row to the fabric store and found colors in the same family. I'm sure whatever you do, it will be just fine.

Margie 02-16-2009 07:49 AM

Awwww, you are sweet to say that. Thank you...I am stretching myself here anyway. I have never done some of this stuff before. Really nervous. Glad you like it.

Margie

purplemem 02-16-2009 07:52 AM

Margie,
Your blocks are an inspiration to me! What a beautiful contribution to the quilts...these are just wonderful!

You Go, Girl!

Margie 02-16-2009 07:57 AM

That is nice thing to say...tyvm. Everyone here on this board is so kind and encouraging and I really appreciate it. I dont want to ruin anyone's quilt and dont have experience like the rest of you. I have only done simple things before. So making myself stretch is good for me...thanks again everyone for the kind words. I will try to do a good job on your quilts.

Margie :)

JANW 02-16-2009 07:58 AM

WOW! Perfect job Margie

mrsj82 02-16-2009 08:00 AM

Margie, those are fantastic! I feel exactly the same way you do. I have no experience in some of these things, so I'm feeling a little nervous...but you're doing great!

JANW 02-16-2009 08:01 AM

How did you do the red and green?? So cool

Glad you liked them...they were actually the easiest blocks. I tried piecing a logcabin pinwheel...OMG wonky wonky couldnt use it...tried another one, same thing. Had a different square in one and didnt like it too busy. Thought I need something a little less busy, so I just embroidered those two. Simply machine embroidered squares after a several really bad attempts at piecing(two full days worth of wasted squares lol). I had never done much piecing before..four patch and nine patch and once half squares. SO this is BIG stretch for me.

Thanks for kind words :)

I did that with the Round Robin center that we are doing. And the best part: the shop owner helped pick out fabrics and made lots of sugestions. It was wonderful having the help. :D

2 Doods 02-16-2009 08:37 AM

Margie, your work is beautiful :!:
I have seen it in person-I know :!:
You are doing a fabulous job and should be proud of yourself!

We all make wonky blocks sometimes. It is part of the learning process.
My favorite tool for this project: a 12 1/2 inch square ruler for the rotary cutter. I make the blocks a smidge large then trim them. And you can trim after each row on the log cabins and that keeps them squared up too.
All the hints that people have on here REALLY help me! That is how I found out there is a 1/4 inch foot for the machine among other things
