I would like to be a part of this also. It sounds like so much fun.

Chele, count me in also! This is my favorite swap! I can do international. Thanks for doing this Chele!
Hello Chele,
I was undecided, thinking I would miss this one and catch up on other things, but now I've gone and thought one up so I'm just going to have to make it for someone! PS I can do international too. |
I'm in for January!
Chele, I just PM you and I am requesting to join your group of quilters. Yes, this is my first quilt swap and I am anixous to get involved with type of project. Thank you, for allowing me.
I'd love to play again for January. :-)
If my count is right we have at least 9 newbies!! Wonderful! You will so enjoy this swap. Once you get your assigned partner, start sending them PM's and find out about your partner. It's fun to stalk their started threads and posts to get an idea of what they like--colors, dragonflies (some are pretty obvious!!), styles what ever. You will share each other's addresses, too. And of course add them to your contact list. I've gained the friendship of many quilters all over, just through this swap. Some no longer participate--life gets in the way etc, but the friendships remain. Welcome all.
Can't remember if I signed up on this board or not, but I did on the November one..... Don't forget me chele, I'm in for January!, lol....... Just in case you missed the other post.......... :)
count me in on this one.

I am so glad to see you signing up for this swap. Maybe we can be patners again, how about that? Sulabug :D :D :D |
Just a few days until our partners are assigned. I have my DQ top almost done, but won't be quilted for a couple of weeks. I am not sure I am going to be able to part with it though :)
You are ahead of the gun, Lyn! I haven't given much thought as to how I am going to present my little spot on the map. There are a lot of ways I could go about it, but some much more time consuming than others. I am looking forward to it!
I have some great ideas on portraying my state. I'd lovvve to share where I live. I just need to get my templates resized on Tuesday. And then I will be abe to get to work on it. I'm excited to see others Ideas on there portrayal of where they come from. (should they choose to do the theme) It will be great fun.
I plan on starting on mine today!
I have my doll quilts all on a wall. My daughter asked me what I was going to do with them, I said just enjoy them because they were made for me. I enjoy the ones I have, four months worth and one I made, that I would like to do this one. Now to put it in the back of my mind for January on what to do while I do Christmas and finish up a couple other swaps this month. Glad we took a break for December. Needed it to catch up on other things and husband surgery. Life is never dull, thank you Lord. I grow each time. Will have fun with you ladies again.
Count me in too please! I would "love" to swap with someone in FL since I was born and raised there but now live in NC.
I love these swaps! |

We might not be so "random" this month. Considering all requests!
I will be happy with whoever you pair me with Chele. It really doesn't matter to me. I just really enjoy making the mini's and meeting new swappers. I'm still such a newbie that haven't really swapped with that many people yet. :)

What a great way to start 2012...then to do a swap with a new friend...put my name down

Oh good, Woody is joining in this one. Look forward to this new swap.
Question for you gals, do you know of a good setting block that will help make my swap blocks fit together. The swap blocks were from the Boom 5 swap. They are lovely blocks, used one main color, but they do not work well together. They just yell at one another. I want them to play nice so thought maybe if I put in a block the same inbetween all of them, they would work well. I know I can put a solid in, but wanted it to have more movement than that. It is for my BIL. |
QuilterMomma: I know what you mean about nice blocks, but they don't work well together! I'm thinking about setting your blocks on point and then the setting triangles could be a color that would draw the blocks together. You could also add a sashing strip between the blocks that were set on point. It's hard to make blocks look good touching each other when their points don't line up because of the different lines in each block! And to find a block that will unify all the ones you have can be tough for the same reason-they don't compliment each other because they have various sizes of sections which make it hard for them to match up well. I'm probably not making sense, but I'm in a boom swap, too, and the blocks are truly lovely and well made, but they don't blend like they would if one person had selected all the fabrics! So I need to figure out the same thing-good luck!
jillnjo: great suggestions for QMomma. My thought too was on point QM, but what about a Quarter square triangle that had 2 neutral colors that blend well with your blocks ( ie cream and brown or white and blue).

Oh, I think I have it then. Laura Heine developed this border piece that you use on your blocks then you add a 1/4 triange to the end and then they make a secondary pattern in the center like an hour glass block. I have done this before so I just may work with that. I have some colors that I purchased at BUggy Barn that will look nice with the blocks. I think I will do that, put on point, add the border to block with the triangle. Thanks for the suggestion. That is what I needed to stir the mind and creativity. I have to get my boom 6 blocks done and out. Better get to work on that as well while keeping this in mind. My finger has healed enough to be able to cut fabric again. What a relief.

Im in too. Someone else might have to post my pictures for me.

If I was to do this-when would the doll quilt have to be done and sent out by? Also-do I represent my partners state or my own state? If these were in the instructions somewhere I apologize for not seeing it and asking again. Thanks for the info.

So nice to see some new people as well as some returning folks. This is such a great group and fun swap. Now to think up a design........
Oops Chele!
Forgot to tell you that I can do international this month. I received the most awesome DQ from Quilter Momma, for November, my first swap, but darned, I am SO struggling to post a picture!! Hopefully I will get the knack by January. Dashing through the snow in Wisconsin. M |
I think i will do the download they describe here so I can get my photo on here. I have several photos to post, but you think I can figure out how to shrink them. Will get on it and post some.
