January 2016 Postcard Swap
FABRIC POSTCARD SWAP
Come join us in trading Fabric Postcards. *Making postcards is not an exact science. There are a lot of great tutorials on the net. Postcards are a very forgiving project as they are not something you would wash over and over.* Be creative, inventive, try out new skills, embellishments, have fun. It's a wonderful mini project. We will have a general theme each month. Please mail your fabric postcards by the 20th of each month. (This is a hard deadline!) *NOTE* New Rule* you must post on the thread a minimum of 3 times. Once at the beginning (say hello greet your partner), once in the middle (how are you coming along) and once at the end (on the 20th confirmation of having mailed). And as always, I need to hear and so does your partner when you receive. This is not a new rule just a reminder. *** Theme, Rainbows *** Please PM me with the following: •QB screen name •Real name •Address/city/state/zip •Are you willing to mail internationally? This is not meant to be a Secret Pal kind of swap. Once I have everyone partnered up, I will post the QB names on the thread then will send along the above information by PM to the respective swappers. Some required details: •Postcards must be 4” x 6” •They must have a finished edge. •Your postcard needs to be sewn (be it a little or a lot) with at least either pieced or appliqued, embroidery, etc. plus whatever you want to add. *If you add a lot of embellishment, you may need to enclose your handmade postcard in a clear mailing envelope (available at the big box stores and online) in order for the USPS to handle it/mail it and so your postcard doesn’t get caught in their equipment. •Your postcard must have adequate postage. Do not send something that will require the recipient to have to pay postage due. •Please let me and your postcard recipient know that you have RECEIVED your postcard. •Most of all, have fun! Please, we want this swap to be fun. Just as a reminder, it is up to you to make sure your partner receives your postcard. Use an envelope if in doubt. Make sure your return address is on there. If you have not fulfilled you obligation you will not be allowed to join the swap the following month. If you do not fulfill your obligation, you will leave me no choice but to leave negative feedback. |

This sounds like fun. Count me in! I have already searched Pinterest and have a few ideas :)
|
Pam, JuanitaBean and queen of 2802, I have added you to my list.
|
Stopped by Joann's today. Found some awesome fabric. I have been in Pinterest looking for ideas. Wow, I had no idea how much fun these will be!!
|
I got on pinterest too. Got a lot of good ideas. Know to see if I can make it work on a post card. I love rainbow colors.
|
Kinda new at this swap, so forgive me while I ask. What does the backs of the postcards look like?
|
Hi queenof2802, some people use a nice card stock for the back, some people double up an index card. I imagine you could repurpose the back of an old greeting card. Whatever works best for you.
I use muslin stabilized with a med weight stabilizer. And, then I zig zag the edges. You can finish the edges however you would like to. I write on my card backs with a micron pigma pen. |
Oh, I'm excited to see all the cards this month. I think rainbows are pretty also.

Judith1005 Banwell Nelco dotcomdtcm Dee7683 owlvamp cuppy nana20010 dove1615 Pam P JuanitaBean queenof2802 There's still time ladies to hop aboard. Nelda, you do girl! I am still kicking my idea around. It's almost time to try out a demo. :) cuppy, I'm not overflowing yet. But, because of the cost of mailing, I've had to scale way back on my swaps as well. (I have to save back that money to mail to my grandchildren.) But, that's okay. I sure do LOVE getting the postcards in the mail. And, I love that it doesn't cost a fortune to send! |
Judith, Have some ideas floating around.....sent you a pm.
|
I'm in this month too!
I am only in this swap and the monthly block swap as I too have way too many mug rugs etc. Don't get me wrong~I love LOVE them all, but unfortunately, storage space is very very limited at my little Zoo Shanty. I was blessed to receive a mug rug from Linda made with strawberry fabric. She said in her note that she loved Strawberries and could remember the sweet smell from the Strawberry fields from her time in California. I just loved Linda. She helped me go through a rough patch in dealing with my mom's nastiness (she lives with us.) She said, "Girl, there are just some people you can't make happy, no matter what. Don't buy into her meanness, just do your best, be happy with you and keep on smiling. You are a Great Gal and no one can tell me any different." |

I'm in for January. December was fun but glad it is over almost. Weather until the last two days has been nice. I liked the warmer weather. It makes the winter go faster. The rainbows should be fun.

And like Judith said, it doesn't cost much to send them. I will never have enough of these wonderful cards. I would just get me another basket. lol.. So I am in for January. I will go month by month with the hopes I can do each month. But life gets in the way sometimes girls. I am in, but it's Cuppy's fault. :D |
Lol JuneBillie. I just realized, that January is my 1 year postcard anniversary also. I'm like you JuneBillie, if I get too many postcards for my basket, I'm just going to get something bigger to save them in. They really don't take up much room at all.
I have added you to my list. |

And, maybe some sparkle as well. Who knows, lol, I'm still in the planning phase. But, really close to the demo phase! |
I now have 17 people signed up. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to pair up names. We are still missing some of our regulars. I might have to go back to last month and see if anyone signed up there as well. But, if you read this, please check in and let me know for sure. Thank you.

A big thank to Judith, for hosting and thinking up such interesting themes.

Alright ladies, I am posting your partners and working on getting out addresses. If your not on this list, I either missed your name or you did not let me know you were signing up. Just pm me and I will try to find you a partner or we may have other late sign ups. You have to tell me every month weather you are joining. I can't assume you are playing. Because you may have something come up or need a breather or what not. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
